That awkward moment when you release a guide on making your own builds but then GGG go and totally redo the entire passive tree and PoB hasn't updated.
@@udntknw001 tbh, there is no method, every person's process is going to look different. Which is why he broke it down the way he did. Thank you Zizaran and everyone involved for giving me a wonderful venue to share my passion for one of my favorite parts about path of exile. Cheers everyone!
Thanks for the presentation, it actually makes me want to try this league and create a build, especially with all the changes to ignite (i'm a pyromaniac freak)
Subtractem's slowlty become one of my favorite PoE content creator's over the last couple leagues. Just great energy and an approach to the game that I appreciate.

Best newcomer to our community's list of creators, imo! Love this guys positive vibes. The guy seems genuinely happy to answer questions, help explain things, or dig in to others people's builds and try and help them fix what they aren't happy with. Also seen him help people craft tricky items. Wish we had more creators like him!
Subractem is great and I feel he's on the path to becoming one of the biggest and most popular PoE content creators! I missed this live but have been waiting for this upload :) Can't wait to watch!
Dude I love your voice and how clean you explain things. For all you dont know. Subtractem has the best crafting guide I had ever seen for poe. Check it out.
Watched the vod on twitch yesterday, fantastic presentation! Really hope people get inspired to push their own builds further than they have in the past.
I'm in a weird spot where I don't have any shame with following a build, and I certainly don't fault those who do, but I haven't allowed myself to "follow" one so to speak. The furthest I've gone is looking up archetypes and seeing the fundamentals of how they're doing what they're doing. Which I think is crucial to understanding how to even get a custom build off the ground, even if it's bad. I've rolled a witch like 4 times now this league. I didn't get the first two out of campaign because I was running into a couple of issues that, while I could have spent points and chaos orbs to fix, I couldn't escape the feeling that I could have done significantly better. Plus, without even being to maps, it was simple enough for me to just re-roll. Every time I did, my build's performance shot up at least 100%. I went from taking some damage but not dying at Dominus to face-tanking him and burning him down in a blink of an eye with no threat to my life. And between the third and fourth iteration, I had the same feeling with act 9/10 and Kitava. I could handle tier 5 maps before it started feeling a bit rough. While that felt like a great improvement from where I started, glancing over at what other people are capable of, I wasn't even close. So I'm starting again and trying something radically different but building around the same skills. I'll be satisfied with 100% dps increase, and 500% effective hp when I get to maps. That might sound like a lot, but my last character's effective hp tapped out at 5k and my dps 350k. It shouldn't be hard to push those numbers way up if I make the proper considerations. Anyway, the reason I'm posting this is because I can't help but feel like this is just a miniature version of what the entirety of PoE's community has done over the years. Of course the newest builds are min-maxed to hell, because they're working off of thousands of iterations of troubleshooting and experimentation. And at least for now, experiencing this process on a personal level has felt super rewarding. Seeing the difference in performance between attempts is like a visual indicator of my growth as a player, and I love it.
Hello, I know this comment is a year old now, but I just wanna know about the time you spent between each lapse? Am really new to PoE and I really wanna get into it, I hate to use guides in any games, and as PoE2 is upcoming I want to at least be able to kinda predict the amount of dedication I need to put in for each run or else I won’t have enough motivation to make it through lmao. Am expecting like 30-60 hrs per run and will get lesser and lesser? Thx in advance if you somehow comeback to answer this. And how are you doing?
@Inter-. it's been a while so I'm going to have to guess here but I'd say you're 100% correct about less time the more you reset. The first run was definitely the longest. But once you tighten your play up a bit, you speed through sections that used to take much longer. And you also have an understanding of what it is you're looking for and where you're going. To summarize though I'd say it wasn't very time consuming. Additionally, once you get a better understanding of the game, it helps you narrow down what you might want to look up which can also expedite the process substantially. More targeted learning rather than following a guide.
Subtractem is really good at presenting. Very fluid, good body language. It helps a ton to stand while presenting. I don’t think I would be able to do builds and I play for 5 years. I still figure out a lot when trying new builds. Cheers
Big thank to Subtractem for taking the time to prepare this video, from the start it is pretty clear he took that seriously. To each their own of course and I don't mean to criticize other people who talk on PoE Uni but for me that's what I would expect from a PoE University, really well prepared and organized knwoledge sharing like this. The video quality was very poor for @subtractem. I assume that's because it's a stream recording rather than source? @Zizaran, maybe have a separate recording from the speaker from their PC to upload/mix in with your stream video? The audio was great, but as someone already mentioned, it was like looking through a window smeared with Vaseline. Otherwise it was a great video. I hope you find other streamers who have some good teaching skills for these poe university videos in the future.

Amazing stuff. Thank you Ziz. Thank you Subtractem.
I hope you find other streamers who have some good teaching skills for these poe university videos in the future.
discord was being a b**** TLDR, wasn't ziz or sub's fault :(
