@@udntknw001 tbh, there is no method, every person's process is going to look different. Which is why he broke it down the way he did. Because you need to know what works for you, and how to build up a solid foundation before jumping in. If anyone claims to have the best method for creating your own build, they're probably full of shit anyways.

like one of those self help with hypnotism seminars - a lot of conceptual waffle, very little practicality and long winded to say very little. superfluous. no offence to him, i think he was trying. perhaps over-thinking it a little. and pretentious.

I'm in a weird spot where I don't have any shame with following a build, and I certainly don't fault those who do, but I haven't allowed myself to "follow" one so to speak. The furthest I've gone is looking up archetypes and seeing the fundamentals of how they're doing what they're doing. Which I think is crucial to understanding how to even get a custom build off the ground, even if it's bad.
I've rolled a witch like 4 times now this league. I didn't get the first two out of campaign because I was running into a couple of issues that, while I could have spent points and chaos orbs to fix, I couldn't escape the feeling that I could have done significantly better. Plus, without even being to maps, it was simple enough for me to just re-roll. Every time I did, my build's performance shot up at least 100%. I went from taking some damage but not dying at Dominus to face-tanking him and burning him down in a blink of an eye with no threat to my life. And between the third and fourth iteration, I had the same feeling with act 9/10 and Kitava. I could handle tier 5 maps before it started feeling a bit rough. While that felt like a great improvement from where I started, glancing over at what other people are capable of, I wasn't even close. So I'm starting again and trying something radically different but building around the same skills.
I'll be satisfied with 100% dps increase, and 500% effective hp when I get to maps. That might sound like a lot, but my last character's effective hp tapped out at 5k and my dps 350k. It shouldn't be hard to push those numbers way up if I make the proper considerations.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting this is because I can't help but feel like this is just a miniature version of what the entirety of PoE's community has done over the years. Of course the newest builds are min-maxed to hell, because they're working off of thousands of iterations of troubleshooting and experimentation. And at least for now, experiencing this process on a personal level has felt super rewarding. Seeing the difference in performance between attempts is like a visual indicator of my growth as a player, and I love it.

Hello, I know this comment is a year old now, but I just wanna know about the time you spent between each lapse? Am really new to PoE and I really wanna get into it, I hate to use guides in any games, and as PoE2 is upcoming I want to at least be able to kinda predict the amount of dedication I need to put in for each run or else I won’t have enough motivation to make it through lmao. Am expecting like 30-60 hrs per run and will get lesser and lesser? Thx in advance if you somehow comeback to answer this. And how are you doing?

    • @datboi_gee
      @datboi_gee День тому

@Inter-. it's been a while so I'm going to have to guess here but I'd say you're 100% correct about less time the more you reset. The first run was definitely the longest. But once you tighten your play up a bit, you speed through sections that used to take much longer. And you also have an understanding of what it is you're looking for and where you're going.
To summarize though I'd say it wasn't very time consuming. Additionally, once you get a better understanding of the game, it helps you narrow down what you might want to look up which can also expedite the process substantially. More targeted learning rather than following a guide.

chose a skill, pick every damage note in pathofbuilding that increases ur damage over ~10%, chose assendancy depending on utility or damage, unpick every damage note too far away from ur starting point, wiki every tag of ur skillgem, decide on converting the damage or adding chance to poison... so that more damage notes are possible to pick, are u hitting a lot? then added damage is better than increased damage, generaly: more damage>penetration>as extra damage>attack/cast speed>increased damage, depending of type of damage chose buffs and debuffs gems, now defence top side skill tree: energy schield, left, rigt hybrid is possible not recommended though, bot side life, ~6k life/energyshield recommended. soft mitigation: left side armor, right side evasion. hard mitigation: dodge, suppres, block depending on accesability take as much as u can, next immunities: avoid elemental ailments if possible 100%, avoid stun, poison, bleeding, corrupted blood, if not with skill tree supplement with flasks, next problem wold be sustain: leech, life on hit, rocovery, regeneration for life, shield and mana. cap ur resistances, convert the dame ur getting to one type as much as possible and increase the cap, still dying? there are a lot of defensive skills/auras , like enduring cry, immortal cal, flesh and stone, fortify, steelskin, guard skills, molten shield, auras..., flasks. dont forget one or two movement skills, there is more but thats enough to buid a decent champ he was talking too much around the bush

No offense, I appreciate the effort put into this presentation, but I'll just be blunt here and say... this is as useful as showing people a picture of a sunset with an inspirational message like "shoot for the moon" written on it with some sprinkles of actual useful information here and there like external resources that can be used.
I'm not trying to bash on this but unfortunately I am, you could literally shrink down this 1h30m video to 10 minutes using only the actual useful information.
Gotta get to the point and stop going on so many tangeants about how difficult it is to make a build.

I've been trying to make my own build with stormblast mines and i swear it is just another job just to make it work.
I'm not looking up what other people do, since i want to do my own thing. But i think it's too much.
The wiki's are missing items and some other things.
But seriously, making a build in this game is the black desert online of this game, another job.

The video quality was very poor for @subtractem. I assume that's because it's a stream recording rather than source? @Zizaran, maybe have a separate recording from the speaker from their PC to upload/mix in with your stream video? The audio was great, but as someone already mentioned, it was like looking through a window smeared with Vaseline.
Otherwise it was a great video. I hope you find other streamers who have some good teaching skills for these poe university videos in the future.
