Gale Banks made either a 125 or 150 hp 4.3 Turbodiesel Oldsmobile 2 door Cutlass Supreme with a 5 speed back in the day. Car & Driver did a review on it then .. like a 0-60 in 10 seconds with a top speed of like 125-130 mph.
Wow, that would be neat. Non computerized transmissions take so much away from low output engines.

@@workingcountry1776 5 speed manual. Apparently sticks were offered on G bodies back in the day,so swapping pedal assembly,console shifter,etc. was no big deal. Take home rate on stick G bodies was low and would be discontinued as the 80s marched on. Same tranny as Camaro,S10,etc when equipped with 5 speed stick. Remember correctly,the Banks Cutlass in question was originally a slushbox. Mr. Banks also had a gas 350 Turbocharged 70s Cadillac Seville that could hit 200 mph. if my memory is correct,or it was early Callaway,Linfenfelter I think.

I have a 75 L82 Auto engine has been built and its friggin fast for what it is.
My mom had a brand new Pontiac 6000 with that engine. It would smoke the frt tires

I mean, it's not quite as useful as sticking it in an S10 or S10 Blazer for a winter beater, but I bet it'll get awesome mileage! Don't forget, you can run that old all mechanical shit on used oil as long as you filter it good first.

I remember when roadkill drove one of these body style corvettes to the sinkhole that those fell into and offered to drive that one into the hole and they could bury it.
Makes it seem like my complete c4 for $1500 must've been a good deal. Only needed a fuel pump, VATS bypass, battery, and tires.
I thought you’d be using a 6.2. But you’re more on point…an Olds diesel is even that much more of a toilet! This is inspiration for my 6.2 third gen Camaro project idea! B!tchin!
The block was beefy AF. I drove one an old-timer had and drove till '89. Total smoke bomb at the end and I'm sure he spent a puke of cash keeping it running.

I had an 82 Monte Carlo with a olds diesel. all the mototr mount bolts had vibrated out of the block. You could "power brake"🤣🤣 it and the gear selector on the column would move and the car would move and you could hear the engine fall back in place. I drove it for years like that and never fixed it.
hahaah i've had quite a few gm's where the mounts are shot and you just watched everything move, and my buddies 76 stingray he had, the motor would hit the hood, good times hahah
You can't clear out a smoky diesel but it's sure fun trying!

I just cut the universals out with torch. Clean up shit n slap them 2gether while still fairly hot. And b4 going back together, run a wire wheel through the bores. Walk in the parking lot! 👌

i know a guy with a celebrity with the 4.3 diesel. its like showroom only 15k miles. i want it for the weirdness, but theres no parts. at all.
you can get some parts, but headgaskets for the v6 are not available unless you pay stupid money to have them custom made for you

A manual trans and a turbo kit alongside some reliability upgrades on that 350 Diesel and you'd have a pretty bad ass corvette.
Why didn't they diesel a chevy 350. I've fell asleep tightening all them head bolts. And I dunno how many times seen people confuse a 5.7 with 6.2

Well, here I am! I got a referral to check out your channel from old peg n leg.
I thought it was going to be a 6.2 or 6.5, but yeah these olds motors are definitely just as terrible.
When you change the oil use the big oil filter. STP S25 at AutoZone, or a Fram PH25, forget what the Wix number is but the anti drainback valves don't seal well anyway on them. I use the STP S25. Decent quality filter for 5 bucks. Doesn't cost any more than the tiny skinny one and definitely fits in the space.
Ive heard they make good blocks for a gas engine

I mean i can find ugly ass rust buckets. But anything that has a hint of ccould be a 150k car after a total resto mod. Ya but its got trees growing thru it bud. It crazy. Just wNt something i can cook the dam tires with. I got a 450hp suv but being AWD u cant do shit except smoke ppl off the line.
