My dad worked w/a guy in the '80s with the v6 diesel, got something way north of 30 mpg (38 ?) Look forward to checking out more of your videos, keep up the good work 👍
Before I retired my automotive career, used to drive an old 82' Mercedes 300SD. Any halfway clean oil and trans fluid I drained, got saved. The old OM617 didn't mind at all a 50/50 blend of oil & diesel. Much more than that it started to run rough, it was a tired engine. Shit when diesel was over $5.00 a gallon, I used all the free "fuel" I could. All that old oil over powered the red dye some diesel has too 😉
My dad used to have an '82 Coupe DeVille with the 350 diesel V8. Thing was fairly so-so considering all the horror stories and shitty design in general from those 'converted' GM diesels. We only used one specific diesel shop to turn wrenches on it. Seemed like nobody else knew wtf they were doing when it came to them or just didn't wanna touch the f'n thing LOL. Hope you had a happy 4/20 like I did!!! Thanks for the vidja broseph!!! I enjoyed it throughly 😁👍

Too bad the parts one has a busted block.... but freakin awesome you got the good one running! They may be anemic but it sure sounds MAD. If you toss this in your Blazer, put that chink-o-china turbo on it too! That should put a little kick in it's step! Great Video man!!!

As long as its an old mechanically injected diesel, they generally don't care about runnning old oil in the fuel. Yes, a couple quarts of black diesel oil completely hides the dye 😁
Don't know what your saying cut the ffffffff Olds need water sep and toss check ball in pump and they ran 3 to 300 thousands less in our construction trucks and olds cars. Most people weren't diesel folks.
Put that TURBO from the van on it be a sweet combo
I agree.
I second that statement
I say turbo everything.
Definitely turbo it. The 4.3 gas v6 is already awesome enough with a turbo but goddamn a diesel? Fuggin miiinnnttt!
