Yeah... Only place left in Canada with WGS is that place in Montreal. They list all the WGS stuff, but I don't think they actually stock all of it. I've been trying to convince the guys at Next Gen to carry WGS so I can get it in town, but no luck so far.
Watching your work, I'd send all three of my prized guitars all the way from Texas to have you work on them! You do excellent work and your attention to detail is way beyond what a tech at retail music store would put into their work!
what an amazing store, and that Fender parts rack! wow. and ya I can say also living in Ottawa, you can't find parts selection like that in stores. Nice job on the wiring, I may just have to use this video for when I do my Squier tele. ;)
Very nice! I've had Switchcraft jacks that didn't want to fit in Squier holes. I had to remove a little material to get mine to work on my daphne blue Deluxe Strat.
not a single store around hear that sells parts anymore that I know of . When we lived in S.Y.R. there was Daddy's Junkie Music that went o.o.b. before we moved. But they had quite a lot of stuff sucks having to order most everything online.
Nice guitar and great store! I was just at Tapestry in Whiterock yesterday getting Strat knobs & a whammy bar for a black 2004 Squier Strat Standard I bought on CL this week! The guitar already had upgraded pickups and tuners and was a steal at $60! All I did was replace the pickguard with a white perloid Amazon one and the knobs and whammy and VOILA!!
1:18 - You're in Ottawa? You should look at Next Gen. They mostly do cab parts, but they have a bunch of guitar stuff too. That same wire is like 50 cents a foot.
Tapestry Music looks like a nice store. It is unusual to see guitar parts stocked and in the isle like that. Nice soldering job and the black pickguard is lookin’ good on that Tele.
Great video! I have the same guitar and I've been looking for a black pickguard like the one that you showed in your video. Any clues where I could find one? Thanks in advance!
you didn't talk about why you rewired the tele....I'm thinking of getting a thinline squier and I did notice the first one I owned the pickups were not great.....
Hello my friend. Thanks for taking the time for posting videos like this. I have a doubt. Since the third leg of the volume pot is making ground to its case and one leg of the capacitor is connected to that third leg and the other capacitor's leg connected to the middle leg of the tone's pot........ does it mean volume pot and tone pot are already grounded? If that's right I think connecting a cable from volume pot's casing to tone pot''s casing for grounding both pots is needless.
I recently picked up a used Mexican Thinline and I was wondering what your thoughts are on splitting the bridge? I'm not digging the feel of the tone pot so I plan to swap them out and thought about throwing a push/pull in there if the coil split is worth the effort.
Apologize for dumb question in advance. I want to get into guitar building / doing setups on existing guitars. What would you consider the essential tools I should buy for getting into setups / fretwork. Do you recommend I build some of these tools instead? Appreciate it.
Can you tell me how to wire in the pickups. I put new pots and switch, then wired the pups with the black and bare soldered together resulting in no out put? What did I do wrong.
Do you have to cut the wiring and re solder just to change the pickguard? I want to to switch out the pickguard without cutting through anything and leave all the electronics alone.
How much invested in your 'new' sweet guitar so far? just curious because it will be my first guitar purchase and wanted to know what the total cost might be if I choose similar mods....Thanks in advance!
Nice video but I have a question... My volume knob fell out of my guitar with the spinning pin thats supposed to go into the pot still in it. I have absolutely no idea what to do cause I dont know if it will work properly if I just put it back in somehow and I dont want to make it worse. Can someone Please help me haha. Thanks.
No, they will say right on the packaging where they're made. For example most of the stuff I bought was labeled Made In Mexico, except the pots which said Made in the USA, which are CTS pots anyway.
Woodeso's Guitar Mods thanks the thing is I bought a 500 and 250 k pots cts fender genuine parts replacements and on the reverse of the packages it said clearly made in China. What a deception! Another package with strings tree replacement said made in USA. The year of these things production was 2011.
Hey Nelson,,, So I'm curious what you paid for that Squier originally... They are not cheap Squiers... Think they're going for about $450.00 new on this side of the border.
#helpshanegetto100Ksubs It's a thing. I can't imagine you aren't subscribed to me and NOT Shane from In The Blues. Tell all your friends.. ua-cam.com/channels/-oSaKCCEffJph0F7m6_xfA.html
Woodeso's Guitar Mods perhaps Nelson could collaborate with Shane on an episode or two of Guitar Search Saturday's. I'm an Aussie and love what Shane does with that series but I'd love to see what it would be like in a Canadian Pawn Shop or music store. Think about it guys please
Fuck, there isn't any good music stores in Hamilton except for the big guys like Long and McQuade. The local shops never have any big brand shit, and if they do, it's either Dunlop novelty picks or puny Marshalls.
Surely the legs of a cap or a paper clip would have been easier to use on that switch 🤣🤣 I've just wired up a super switch for two humbuckers... if I'd tried doing it your way is probably have walked into the ocean!!!
Watching your work, I'd send all three of my prized guitars all the way from Texas to have you work on them! You do excellent work and your attention to detail is way beyond what a tech at retail music store would put into their work!
Tapestry music are probably the best WGS speaker dealer in Canada ,,I've ordered a few from them now .
100% Buddy! 100 fucking % :-)
Except they're dropping WGS and no longer carrying them. :(
Thats A bummer ...
Yeah... Only place left in Canada with WGS is that place in Montreal. They list all the WGS stuff, but I don't think they actually stock all of it. I've been trying to convince the guys at Next Gen to carry WGS so I can get it in town, but no luck so far.

Glad you're back bro! Seen all the Instagram pics and waiting for the video.
nice job .... ...instruments are soooo beautiful to look at .....

Wish I was still living in New West;-)
I'm in Coquitlam but Tapestry is totally worth the trip!!
Oh yeah I also added all 5 new fender trem springs and this guitar stays in tune beautifully!
Very nice soldering close-ups, great job!

Cool shop. Not often you can browse small parts in the aisle instead of having to ask for items over the counter.
That looks really nice. I'd love one of those
Great rig!! Absolutely wonderful sounding and great to play with a good setup.
great video, cool guitar! keep up the good work!
What a beautiful guitar! I love it
Thinn Lizzy guitarists: Biran Robertson & Scott Gorham played 1973 Les Paul Deluxe guitars
Sweet Tele, nice pickgaurd change. Good video
Great video! I have the same guitar and I've been looking for a black pickguard like the one that you showed in your video. Any clues where I could find one? Thanks in advance!
Nice, only thing I do in addition is add a treble-bleed.
Great one for us owners! Did you noticed improvement in sound after changing components and adjusting pickup screws heights?
BIG TIME!. Absolutely worth doing 100%. Total cost was around $60 CAD.
The same here in Europe - shops like that are hard to find.
Sounds great!

you should save up for some lollar wide range reissue pickups, for that traditional thinline sound!
I recently picked up a used Mexican Thinline and I was wondering what your thoughts are on splitting the bridge? I'm not digging the feel of the tone pot so I plan to swap them out and thought about throwing a push/pull in there if the coil split is worth the effort.

So did you change pickups, or are those the stock Squier wide range pickups? Also, wouldn't 500K pots be more appropriate for humbuckers vs 250K pots?
IT LOOKS LIKE ITS TIME FOR A NEW VAPE...I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THE JOYETECH ESPION SOLO
Can you tell me how to wire in the pickups. I put new pots and switch, then wired the pups with the black and bare soldered together resulting in no out put? What did I do wrong.
With the black pickguard looks way better

Hi is it true that the new fender original replacement parts are mostly made in China if not all?
No, they will say right on the packaging where they're made. For example most of the stuff I bought was labeled Made In Mexico, except the pots which said Made in the USA, which are CTS pots anyway.

doesnt sam ash carry fender and all parts and also gibson parts
here in my local sam ash you can browse the parts without it being over the counter
Nice wiring!

I just played one today and while it is a decent guitar I cant get over the price tag of 450 on a Squier. I had to pass.
Nelson what is a good price to pay for a toggle switch for a Gibson special?

Woodeso's Guitar Mods far out man I am lost for words. Thanks mate 🙏 love your tidy wiring job too if you saw the inside of my telecaster 😳🤦♂️
Your vape looks like you've kicked the shit out of it😂😂
I sure have buddy... I used to LOVE smoking cigs! ;-)
Woodeso's Guitar Mods same here man, congratulations on quitting!
why did you choose 250k pots for humbuckers?
Good question,But I do prefer them on p90's
Fuck, there isn't any good music stores in Hamilton except for the big guys like Long and McQuade. The local shops never have any big brand shit, and if they do, it's either Dunlop novelty picks or puny Marshalls.

I've just wired up a super switch for two humbuckers... if I'd tried doing it your way is probably have walked into the ocean!!!
woody...I'll buy that squire Tele off ya....how much? 400?
Do you sell these guitars?
