- The 1967 & 1969 MGBGT’s we compared in the last video are getting wheel swapped in this video. The ‘69 will get the wires and the ‘67 will end up with the Minilites. We discuss and show you all the differences in MG rear axles between the MGA, early vs late B Roadsters, and BGTs, also why you can’t just swap the hubs and be done with it unless you spend the money on the swap kits + new wheels if you swapping from disc wheels to wire wheels.
Merry Christmas. 😊
I love the line it’s the season!😂
I believe my gt used to have wire wheels and someone has fitted steels as the rear wheels look set in to far.
Luckily i have another axle which is wider as I'm not a fan of wire wheels.
Very informative video!
What about those kits with the adapters that just bolt onto the existing hubs.
So why can I just buy bolt on spline hubs and wire wheels here in the UK. Total cost around £2000?
Thank You. A question on bachelor sag?
R/R springs and shocks on both ends of car but still have 1/2 inch sag to left.
Recommendation please.
Thank You,
Mike
Did you swap springs left to right? sometimes that works, but it seems these cars are prone to that in the rear regardless of left or right hand drive (I think the factory jigs may have had a slight twist causing more weight to he carried on the left rear than the right rear) sometimes you have to play around with spacers to get it even
@@mgbgtguy thank you for response. Could you elaborate on where to place spacers to raise left rear please e.g. thickness to raise 1/2 inch and exactly where in the suspension
Really appreciate your help
Best,
Mike
You can’t raise the rear with spacers you can only raise the front with spacers. If you have swapped springs, left to right, without that changing the right height, then you can put a spacer in the left front to raise that which puts a little more weight on the right rear, and you can lower the right rear with shims between the spring and the spring perch on the rear end housing.
Thank You for your guidance.
Best,
Mike
