Thank you SO much for making this! It is great to find someone who makes a video that covers the little details, doesn't skip anything, isn't confusing in any area, AND doesn't ramble on about unnecessary crap or aggravate people with repetitiveness. You definitely won a new subscriber
Excellent instructional video! I'm confident I can do this now. The dealership wants $1k to do a new fuel pump. I'm going to try replacing myself. Thanks
I was quoted $520 to replace mine. After seeing this, im sure I can do it myself. Thanks so much ffor the great how to vid! I'll let you know how it goes.
It was not as easy as you made it look. However, I barely replace my own wipers so with no experience I will say it went well. The hardest part was the lock ring. My daughter assisted me and neither of us could get it to slide. We both tried, this way and that way, different angles, etc... We decided to pry it off with the flat head screwdriver. Just the little metal slot parts. Then lifted the ring off. Took out the old pump, inserted the new one. The old one didn't have the little clip thing so I slid it on as far as I couldthinking it would be fine. It wasn't. I went to a friend's. The gas smell was so strong I almost passed out. But the friend tightened it using a zip tie. He said the ring was fine. And so it is. It starts and drives and that was the goal. Success.
Great video. Did the job today and you showed exactly what needed to be done. All went smoothly. Went with a Bosch replacement and new seal. Started right up. Thanks for the help.
Went to a mechanic and was quoted $714 to get this fixed. The pump they was going to charge me for was $550 plus labor. Went to autozone and bought one for $250. It looks really easy to fix and will do it in the next few days. Will save me a butt load of money.
Took me 2 hours to fix this. The ring didn’t budge after an hour of just tapping it so I had to turn the heat up and hit with more aggression. Finally It budged after 5 minutes with harder hammering.
Very well done. A different site had 4 8mm bolts holding the pump down. I didn't want to get to whaling at anything, so finding this was very useful. Thank you.
Thank you for your video. Replaced fuel pump unit on 05 Altima 3.5. patience is key. Rough time removing unit from tank. Not mention keep the fuel line and other line out of the way while doing so. Recommend using ventilator mask as fumes were pungent. Thanks 👍
Thanks Had a hard time getting the ring off.I was tempted to go get a bigger hammer.. Kept tapping on it. Suddenly it came loose. Had to keep turning on the switch about 12 times. Ran a little rough for a little bit then smoothed out. Thanks again.
Just did this on my moms nissan...took me one hour and saved us 200$ thanks bud your vids are on point, im a vw vintage guy i drive a 73 type3 square but you have saved us lots of $$ with your knowledge 🙏🙏
Great video. My 2006's fuel pump died on the road, the night before vacation. I had it towed to a shop, they charged $292 for a delphi pump module, and 2.5 hours labor @ $95/hr. $552 out the door. Being out of town my options were limited, but 2.5 hours seems excessive after watching this vid.
Great vid!...I'm going to be changing out my gas filter/pump in my 2004 3.5 Maxima. Can the gas filter/pump be purchased at any auto parts store? Or do only Nissan dealers have the parts?
Yeah You’re right it would’ve really sucked because I don’t have a garage it’s cold as shit where I live and it’s Super Bowl weekend so thanks again man
My fuel pump is working fine, but the sending unit isn't showing the correct amount of fuel in the tank. Is it possible to repair the sending unit instead of replacing the entire fuel pump? I know you guys want to sell parts, but if I can fix the sending unit without replacing the entire thing, I'd like to do that. This video makes this a lot easier than I was thinking it was going to be.
yea im glad u mentioned to use pliers on those four plastic tabs to take the cap off cause if u use a philips that cheap plastic would prolly just mess up
wow great video my mechanic told me my fuel pump is fine but I'll need to replace the assembly housing but I have no clue what it looks like or part number for my nissan altima 2001 GXE. I kinda do after searching junkyard and looking at the pics I think it's part 17042-4B00A
Thanks for the video, I have a 2006 Altima 4 cylinder. For quite a awhile sometimes it would take longer to start usually when the car was used during the day, in other wards on a cold morning start i had no starting issues, so I just lived with the sometimes longer starting times ( usually I would just shut the key off and turn key to run position for a couple seconds and then it would start right up. But the other day i was at a stop light and the car surged as though it was stalling but regained immediately and ran fine for a few more days. then once again at a light it stalled for 1 second but regained again and then my service engine soon light came on. My questions are , is there a fuel filter for this car and is it possible i have a weak fuel pump? i have not read the codes yet. I still can get the car running but yesterday was much worst getting it started. I have the car sitting now. 2006 85,000 miles well kept car in hot Florida. Thank you for your time.
Any idea on how to remove the fuel pump relay please? - The fuse panel (gray) is positioned vertically inside the black box on the passernger side next to the coolant reservoir, which needs to be slided out in order to have access to the relay, however, it won't slide out!! What gives? At this point, I have no idea whether the relay is shut, or the pump module itself. Thank You,
Some things are less complicated while other things like changing the headlights is a pain in the butt. This fix looks easier than what I had to do to change my cars headlight.
TIP: After using a hammer and a screwdriver to get the ring off with great difficulty, I finally got it off but putting the ring back on with the hammer and a screwdriver was even harder. I got my air chisel out and it went on super fast at 100 psi.
Hello there, Nissan Altima 2002 2.5 I have a critical question. I can't do a normal start on the car. Takes 12-16-20 times. And I hear a detonation, smells gas, its not a normal strong start, it's rather weak and bumpy. The throtle body was wet around butterfly intake. I have a p0300 code. Some dude checked the gas pump & said pressure is good. I have no clue what I have to fix/replace??!! HELP!!

I currently have a 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5....I do most of my own work on this car. Love it. One question...For this car what are the indications if the fuel pump is going or if it's shot? I know the car won't run :>) Also do you know how to change a sensor in my shift assembly....Some times I have to jiggle the shifter while in park to start the car. It doesn't happen all the time just on occasion. Thank you in advance for your help. And this video!
Hello Sir, I have Altima 2006, and recently i encounter an issue that the engine suddenly stops by itself and when i start again, it turns on the fuel warning light. Although the fuel tank is full. Then after few ingnitions the engine starts again. What could be the possible reasons? Could it be fuel pump issue or the gas getting accumulated in the tank? Thats what he said. Waiting for ur response. Thank you
Thank you so much but one thing, Please give me your permission is Please no need to use a hammer to hit for removing the ring around to keep the Fuel pump down... you only need to press down the pump then remove the ring very easy.
My car won't crank at all anymore..it was at 1 point but not anymore. Is there a way to diagnose the fuel pump electrically? The car cranks but no start. Not sure if it's the fuel pump or something else causing the problem.

Thanks for this very straightforward, no b.s. or fluff video. You explained everything perfectly and gave me the confidence to tackle this job myself.
Thanks for this video. I replaced mine in my 06 by following your steps. I saved myself money by just buying the part and doing the labor myself
What symptoms did you have prior to changing the pump?

Considering it's a pretty noninvasive job, that's asinine to ask $1k.

Most repair shops drop the tank, and clean it before installing new pumps.
I agree with the above comments. You make it seemed easy. Thanks for sharing ur skills.
Life is so expensive and knowing what it takes gives an idea.
Auto Zone had several choices. I chose the Bosch. It didn't have a new seal but the old seal looked good. The float was on the pump.
My 05 wont start and I think it is this. So, this guy just got my sub, great video. I hope this fixes why my car wont start lol.
Did it do the trick?

California Emission Nissan Altima has a single fuel line port so I believe it is a different part
