On my 05 I’ve changed fuel pump , cam and crank sensor, alternator, coils and plug mileage is 196k . Learned a lot from 1a videos . Easy car to work on
I've had to repair all these issues on my 2006 Altima. The dealer had done the floor boards before I bought it @ 120,000 miles. I'm at 252,000 miles now and I'm still getting great mileage. It's still quick, but I go easy with it these days. I love my car! It cost me money each year in maintenance. I can't afford to buy anything else. I'm shootin' for 350,000 and driving it to the junk yard in ten years. 😳
😂😂😂 in 10 years from now 🔥🔥🔥🔥 great But transmission mount and passenger mount need to changed at least once every year if you are hard on acceleration pedal 😂😂😂
Ive had my 06 for over 12 years now only problem ive had recently was a misfire due to a bad ignition coil and the motor mounts breaking other than that the car is running perfect 180k miles
I love my 05 Nissan Altima, have had it for 18 years bought it new and now 200K and still going strong. Yes I have had to do a bunch of maintenance but it’s been worth the cost.
I have a 2005 Nissan Altima and out of those 5 tips I only had issues with 2. With what I learned If you need to replace a cam or crank sensor. Replace them both. Get the parts from Nissan. I talked to Nissan and found out their electrical is super sensitive. If you buy the parts somewhere else your likely to do the job more than once. Save yourself the headache. Motor mount. My car has over 200,000 miles just changed 3 out of 4 mounts. The back mount is a pain in the donky. Don't change it unless you have to. My front mount needed changing. The lady in the video talked about the Right mount. There are 4 motor mounts they are called Right (in the video) Front Left aka (transmission mount) Back
I have never had any of those 5 problems, I have a 2005 s and I have only changed the worn parts so for me it is a car without complaints plus it supports hard work
I have had my engine mounts replaced 145,000 miles . The crank sensor replaced @100,00 miles, those dont seem to be problems just wear . I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE
Despite these issues that some will come across I liked my 06 Altima v6. It was the best car I've ever owned and would like to get into another 05-06 Altima this year.
I have the 2005 and you can get a cam and crank sensor kit from Nissan for under $100.00. Ask for the recall kit. Motor mount from Amazon. All repairs can easily be done by the average DIY' selfer. Nice video 1AAuto👍.
Thank you so so much not only for your detailed explanation of this defect in 3rd generation Nissan Altima but also the solutions you provided on how to solve once and for good. So many thanks . I'll always your invaluable videos and subscribe
Great video. All true I'm still struggling with a hard to start when warm issue. Reason why I'm here today trying to decide to do the fuel injectors because I have a negative fuel trim. I'm thinking when it's warm or hot out the fuel injector leaks. It's really the last thing it's driving me crazy
Very great video! Luckily I’ve been getting them all replaced. Next up is the catalytic, I just replaced my fuel pump today. 05 Altima going on 5 years strong now, I got it back in 2016
I have an 06 Altima 4 cylinder that I bought new. I've replaced the cam/crankshaft position sensors, the rear wheel bearing hubs, the headlights and taillights and I just replaced the valve cover and ignition coils/spark plugs. Oh and I dropped the transmission pan to replace the filter.
i have an 06 i've been driving since i bought it new and have had most of these over the years. another common issue i had that iv'e also heard about from others is the fuel guage malfunctioning. requires you to remove the whole cluster and send it out for repair
I have a 2006. Funny thing that some of the fuel pumps are bad, cause like me you might wind up changing it because it dies and leaves you stranded. But in reality it’s the fuel *gauge* that stops working and you just ran out of gas! Replaced it twice thinking it was the gauge sending unit the second time. Nope. Did the dash gauge ‘test’ and the fuel gauge ‘bounced’ with all of them so, who knows? Maybe the wires from the sending unit to the gauge? Extra annoying because it throws a code and causes the CHECK ENGINE light to come on constantly too..
just had 3 motor mounts replaced in my '05 Altima 2.5 S. Was on the freeway when the car in front of me had a tire tread rip off and I was unable to avoid it safely. It banged up the bottom and about 3 hours later the car failed to start. Checked fuel pump and it looks good, i can hear it when the car is in accessory, but no start. Might check camshaft and crankshaft sensors next. Maybe one was knocked loose or damaged
I have 197,000 miles on my 2005 altima that i bought new in 2004. I love the car and out of my 7 that is the most reliable. I have changed Camshaft sensors 3 times, front quick struts 3 times. rear springs, front catalytic converter, rebuilt the passenger floor, radiator, 2 of the 3 motor mounts and the transmission mount ( only because it was a deal to buy the whole set). Now i am working on having the Cluster repaired or replaced because the fuel tank is empty when it reads about a quarter tank. I have been driving it like this for 3 years now and have not run out since i know about the problem. I still want it fixed though. I repair most things as soon as i see a problem. I love the car and will not buy new because the CVT is garbage. if the motor goes i will put a Japanese spec replacement in it. The head gasket must be going because i am currently slowly losing coolant and oil. Does not effect performance other than the Catalytic converter code comes on once ever 6 months, but i just turn it back off. When it stays on or i swap the motor i will swap the Cat again. Oh yeah, 1 other issue is the speedometer has always read high by about 9% so that means i probably have less actual miles. 1 set of tires i went larger to compensate and it was very close to accurate. but it wasnt worth the added cost. it also stopped better in the rain with those tires.
1 and 2 happened to me already at less than 150K. 1 happened way a lot earlier . My motor mounts went out eons ago. CAM sensor has gone out too . Will need to get #4 checked.
The camshaft and crankshaft sensors go bad on these cars. The valve cover seals around the spark plug tube to bad which causes oil to leak into spark plugs leading to misfires Under the passenger floorboard will rust from the inside-out.
I absolutely loved her. I would learn alot from her ..she delivers the materials easy to understand and had some humor in her tone.. so refreshing to see on UA-cam. You better do it Sis.. she motivates my gay ass to work under my hood
What about the sagging suspension in the back and the bounciness my mom has the same exact car and it has all of those problems luckily it does not have the distributor
3rd Gen Altima 3.5 V6 also had a bad catalytic converter that destroyed an amazing engine and also timing chain guides issues which produces annoying rattling at startup or whining noise.
I think this series would've been more useful if it was about the top issues of a given car regardless of whether they are 5 or 15! Some cars you reviewed, like this Altima for example, certainly have more than 5 issues to worry about!
Thank you sooooo so much. You touched up on every last little detail about my car and everything in this video is either a problem currently or will be soon (oil soaked cam sensor) Girl power baby!! Thanks a ton!!

I have a 03 Altima 3.5SE lve changed the all sensors twice a year and motor mounts i always take off slowly to not rip them . But now I’ve changed the MAF and throttle body like 4 times. Now it’s working. I’ve invested so much money. I don’t know what to do? The car is Silver good paint good interior nice sound system and lowered with 20” Chrome Velocity Wheels. Tires R still New I don’t drive far local only so I don’t get stranded. Any Suggestions? New Engine or Sell it?
I have an 03 and my wife has an 04. The 03 has never had any of these issues and has 258,000 and is still the primary car we use for long distance . The 04 has 114,000 on it and only the cam sensor was done around 56,000 . I'm just wondering if most of these issues are on the 05 - 06 models because both of mine are the best cars I have ever owned and for the price they were new , have exceeded any expectations I could have ever imagined. They were so reasonably priced for what you got for your money. I will never buy another car because all the new ones have so many issues and recalls why would you . Everything is junk now.
I’ve come across all these Altima 2006 2.5 mileage 230k 5 also changed catalytic converter with a header without cat but now the main problem fuel consumption 15-16 liter per 100 km I’ve changed fuel pump Spark plugs Coil packs Engine air filter Change oil oil every 5 k Cleaned air mass No vacuum leak And finally will do this week oxygen sensor replacement But why is this is it cause I’ve deleted the cat ?
Your video is awesome I wish you lived in my area you sound like a very very competent mechanic. I'm thinking about buying a 2003 Altima and I'm reluctant now because of your video and the seller said that it's not inspected it does have low miles 62,000 miles but my question is am I buying something that's going to really have the major issues as you describe so what's your feedback on a 2003 Altima thank you for your advice thank you for your feedback
The 3rd generation were good cars just be careful they can burn amounts of oil on 4 cylinder models. I've read the floorboards rust. They were some nice cars still can go 200,000 miles. I have the newer Altima when gone all CVT but reliable avoid CVTS from that year to 2013 they were totally junk.
@@nickawilliams5175 Basically all cars have been using one of 3 transmission since the model T, An automatic, manual or cvt transmission. The Cvt or constant variable transmission is the least reliable of the 3 and for that reason wasn’t used on many cars, but Nissan in 2007 switched their Altima’s from auto/manual to Cvt because they are more fuel efficient. But as I said they’re less reliable and you should stay away from any Altima with a Cvt!!
@@nickawilliams5175 CVT is a type of power transmission used in snowmobiles and go-karts. It is not robust enough to use in cars, but I'm sure it's a lot cheaper to manufacture than a regular transmission, so great if you're a carmaker, crap if you're a car buyer.
My son has a 2005. It has the 2.5. Over 200K miles. It has gotten to the point where it must have high octane to start. Premium works or add octane booster to regular. Starts fine as long as we use higher octane. It won't without. Put a new fuel pump in but no help. Any ideas?
Hi I’m from Puerto Rico I have a nissan Altima 2005 white code is p0725 and p0335 need help I replace the crank sensor in the back of the engine and sensor speed but continue whit the code
Replaced on my Murano. Note, the 'economy' cheap ones are really just that. Go for at least the Standard mid-grade ones, I think they are $5-10 more each, and you'll have no worries. While you are at it, replace the crank PS so everything is new, as once one starts going its not long before the others probably will.
PS- I would never buy a Nissan, their CVT's are still kind of crap and others like Toyota seem to be bullet-proof. I only have the Murano because my wife moved onto a Sorrento, and we got the trans replaced by Nissan by the skin of our teeth at 116K. Nissan is about where I'd place Mitsubishi, and the Chrysler of US vehicles. They just don't seem to really care about quality.
Could you tell me if the CAM sensor job is a problem on the 3.5 models, same with the stalling engine? I’m looking to buy an Altima 3.5 SE from this gen, but wanna be as much in the clear as I can Thanks!
as far as I know, most mechanical issues found in these generations come from the 2.5 I4. I bought a 2003 3.5se Altima back last June. From what I understand is that those vq v6's are pretty bulletproof. It's a pretty punchy engine, as long as it's in good condition and you're not overpaying id say get it!
How you doing new to the channel i just bought a Nissan Maxima and truly am enjoying it right now. But I am looking to buying a 2012 Nissan Altima, I know the transmission is out on it, i am wondering if it is worth purchasing a rebuilt transmission or new one. I know they have had problems with the transmission CVT. I was wondering if they have revised it or should i stay away from this vehicle?
Can you guys do a video on a 06 Altima with a evap problem. My car has a evap problem and I replace all three sensors including the charcoal canister. I've also replace a couple hoses but if you guys can do a video on how to diagnose that problem or the known problems.
Can I ask you a question. I have a 2.5 2002. I get like an oscilatory vibration in the front wheels. It shows up only during acceleration or breaking. What could that be?
+Lu R We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2006 GOES INTO LIMP MODE ALL OF SUDDEN ,we chnaged accelarator pedal and still it went ,noe compter show airflow low p1051 and coolant sensor defective is this causing it after replacing it wil be ok? the limp mode is all of sudden but goes away after turn off and turn on ,the car also is aceelarating sometimes fast and sometime slow reaction with same pedal push. Limp mode here is it goes like in when we place gear in D mode 5 mph speed with no response from accelarator ,this in highway could create fatal accident
My 2005 altima 2.5s won't shift to d3. I have to manually drive off in 1st gear, shift to 2nd and then d3.. now spending 1k to replace transmission. :(
+Lil Draco Here's a how-to video for a vehicle similar to yours. These steps should be similar enough to complete this task: ua-cam.com/video/HcBnj-A_xLs/v-deo.html
I have a 3.5 so I don’t have a stall problem. No fuel pump problem. Catalytic converter is ok too. Motor mounts are ok too. Cam sensor is ok too. Did I mention it has 206k miles?
I'm working on someone's 2005 altima 2.5. Changed spark plugs, fuel pump, coils, injectors. Cheap injectors, when I removed them to put the old ones back in, found the orange plastic tips gone and one seal on cylinder 1. Never found the plastic when I took the intake manifold off to check for it. I cleaned the catalytic converter. I couldn't see light through it before, no you can see the light through it. There are some areas in the cat that aren't the best. With new plugs, they look bkack on the sides. Compression is low for this engine, ranging from 139 to 160. Should be 181. Cylinders 1 and 2 are the lowest at 139 and 142. I'm thinking it needs a head gasket. It's been running terrible. More power at lower RPM's. Power boggs down when you give it more throttle. Before ckeaning the cat, after changing the fuel injectors, it was running rough and wouldn't go over 3500 RPM's. The cat was red hot. The next day is when I pulled it and cleaned it, letting it soak 2 days. It ran okay after cleaning the cat and putting the old injectors back in, but was still powerless at high RPM's. He said when he came to a hill, it was going slow and he barely got home. Kids, too impatient to wait for me to look at the car before buying it.
My 2006 altima is fouling out plugs every month. I've replaced cam and crank sensors several times. When it starts to hesitate at starting I replace plugs and it runs good for a month. What is wrong with this thing???? Help.
Problem I am having with my 04, Sounds like a misfire, Ticking from the engine.. But it'll go away! Swapped out the fuel pump and its still doing it! Its got 240000 miles and I don't wanna throw a bunch of money at this car! Anyone deal with this before? Should I swap the o2 sensor or look at the plugs? It also stalls, Takes a while before it'll restart! I thought the 2 problems were 1 in the same! I'm learning that maybe they're not? I would love to hear from someone who had a similar problem. thanks!
I have a 2005 2.5 S Altima with an intermitent NO START (No Crank) condition. Have to move the shifter many times between park and neutral and keep trying to start. Eventually it starts. I don't know if this is related to a bad shifter, bad starter, bad ignition relay, bad ignition switch. Does anyone knows where can I find a diagnostics tree for this kind of problem. Has anyone had the answer to this problem?
Weird my motor runs smooth 171k no issues got aftermarket header though I went through 4 TRANSMISSIONS! And they are not Cvt never use the gear selector and downshift it will ruin your transmission 🤣
2006 2.5SL 123k miles Just replaced the following: Fuel injectors Ignition Coils Spark plugs Gaskets Motor mounts Radiator Fuel pump Feels like a brand new car.
I own an 06 and have experienced ever single one of these except the fuel pump failure. Also, there headgaskets are know to leak on the QR25DE engine over 80k There still driveable but will burn small amounts of coolant and set of ODB light for O2 sensor 1 cause it picks up the antifreeze in the exhaust
i have a 05 , dies while driving , replaced the fuel pump, ,vvt solenoid ,has no codes ,, sputters a bit then just dies ,will start up again after a few minutes

Finally, after filtering through many many YT videos. So happy I found you. Exactly what I needed before my brother purchase this Altima.

Amazing video !!
My 04 altima check engine light will not come on. Is this something I need for it to pass smog?
It blows my mind that you just described everything wrong with my 06 altima 😂😂😂
+Alberto Prieto Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Yes, same
What kind of camera did you use to record this?
Great video...but Im also nervous! I may need to get a couple of these issues fixed...
I like her! Definitely knowledgeable.
+Ramon Carter Thanks for the feedback!
What's CVT?
Amazing informational video... greatly appreciate it.. love you guys
Is it possible Cam/Crank sensors to be an issue with generating a engine code?
That weird periodic stalling then starting back up again when you pull over is exactly what my moms is doing. Runs great otherwise.
I have a 2008 2.5 coup Altima
I am smelling a burning smell under the driver side.
What could cause this
My son has a 2005.
There is also problem with camshaft timing gear noise 😜
I’m so glad you did this video 😆💪I trust you 💗
Replaced on my Murano.
I’m looking to buy an Altima 3.5 SE from this gen, but wanna be as much in the clear as I can
Thanks!
as far as I know, most mechanical issues found in these generations come from the 2.5 I4. I bought a 2003 3.5se Altima back last June. From what I understand is that those vq v6's are pretty bulletproof. It's a pretty punchy engine, as long as it's in good condition and you're not overpaying id say get it!
What can cause a no start issues wit this car please somebody help 😭 I have and 05 Altima
Only engine problem I’ve had is a misfire but I keep driving it with engine light on
Thank you! very useful video! My Nissan has two of these five!!!
I have 05 car been great for 8 years a couple control arms ,valve cover bad,and rust in floor board
The main problem and most costly one is the timing chain guides and tensioners failing/braking.
Strange that didn’t happen to me or my friends 😄
@@Sroor90010 all car problems don’t happen to everyone and that one is a known Nissan issue across many models
Will a head gasket being blown stop my vehicle from starting
How you doing new to the channel i just bought a Nissan Maxima and truly am enjoying it right now. But I am looking to buying a 2012 Nissan Altima, I know the transmission is out on it, i am wondering if it is worth purchasing a rebuilt transmission or new one. I know they have had problems with the transmission CVT. I was wondering if they have revised it or should i stay away from this vehicle?
Run away. Fast.
2:40 is that why I kind of have a loud car?
Can you guys do a video on a 06 Altima with a evap problem. My car has a evap problem and I replace all three sensors including the charcoal canister. I've also replace a couple hoses but if you guys can do a video on how to diagnose that problem or the known problems.
+Jesus Diaz We're always cycling through common cars. We'll add this repair to our list! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I got the same issue and I changed suspension arms axles and bearings and hub. It's a money pit.
04 and 06 altimas are reliable and without the cvt transmission so 07 and up has the cvt just a heads up
My 2005 altima 2.5s won't shift to d3. I have to manually drive off in 1st gear, shift to 2nd and then d3.. now spending 1k to replace transmission. :(
Thank you very much great info
Hi I'm about to buy a 06 altima is it true the transmissions on this cars suck or break easy? My bro saying they do please help
did you guys ever fix a 2005 nissan altima thermostat
+Lil Draco Here's a how-to video for a vehicle similar to yours. These steps should be similar enough to complete this task: ua-cam.com/video/HcBnj-A_xLs/v-deo.html
Ive had catalytic converter, O2 sensor, mounts problem with 05
I want to have and experience the Altima ENERGY!!!
I have a 3.5 so I don’t have a stall problem. No fuel pump problem. Catalytic converter is ok too. Motor mounts are ok too. Cam sensor is ok too.
Did I mention it has 206k miles?

That is amazing. I have the 3.5 and have had all those problems.
I just have Cam and crank sensor issues. When buying cheap one (Auto Zone) 😮💨. Lol. Make sure you buy Nissan only😁
I'm working on someone's 2005 altima 2.5.

Alarm keeps going off after battery install video would be great
My 2006 altima is fouling out plugs every month. I've replaced cam and crank sensors several times. When it starts to hesitate at starting I replace plugs and it runs good for a month. What is wrong with this thing???? Help.
How much for the mechanic to fix a motor mount?
Great video 📹 thanks 😊
Great videos!!!!!
I would love to hear from someone who had a similar problem. thanks!
Thanks. Very informative
Has anyone had the answer to this problem?
not sure if this is one of them but gas cap, emissions leak?
Edit: mine has it intermittedly
+Mao Zero Thanks for the feedback!
She’s really good
Weird my motor runs smooth 171k no issues got aftermarket header though I went through 4 TRANSMISSIONS! And they are not Cvt never use the gear selector and downshift it will ruin your transmission 🤣
187k on mines original trans and motor and she runs like a champ LOL🤣
2006 2.5SL
123k miles
Just replaced the following:
Fuel injectors
Ignition Coils
Spark plugs
Gaskets
Motor mounts
Radiator
Fuel pump
Feels like a brand new car.
2.5 or no 3.5?
Do you replace the transmission fluid?
I own an 06 and have experienced ever single one of these except the fuel pump failure.
Also, there headgaskets are know to leak on the QR25DE engine over 80k
There still driveable but will burn small amounts of coolant and set of ODB light for O2 sensor 1 cause it picks up the antifreeze in the exhaust
MY 2006 ALTIMA ONLY HAS 126,000. SILVER. HAVE HAD REPAIRS. BUT RUNS GOOD NOW. JUST REPLACED POWER STERING PUMP.AND NEW RADIATOR.
i have a 05 , dies while driving , replaced the fuel pump, ,vvt solenoid ,has no codes ,, sputters a bit then just dies ,will start up again after a few minutes
So would you recommend buying this vehicle
Only for point a to b transport has a cheap option....
Buy a Toyota instead for reliability and road trips :(
@@PorschePrestige987 yup, ive had both and the Camry was more reliable than the altima
