You guys have saved me a lot of money. Your videos have enabled me to change my water pump, fuel sending unit ,and serpentine belt. As I have told my wife, I have more time than money. Thanks for the videos and; I always recommend you guys to friends.
Been a mechanic since I was a kid. I always check UA-cam to see if anyone else has any nifty tricks or advice. This is a straight forward job, but good info on the cover screws and the green hose clip. Very good attention to detail! Thanks for your excellent video. Very professional!
Just order a fuel pump from 1a auto hopefully it’ll last longer than the one I got from Amazon lol . Love your videos always watch your videos even on stuff I’m not replacing as a just in case scenario lol
I thought i was sold the wrong pump didn't know about California law until i seen your video with a pump like the one i got! some Nissan ive seen on here has a different connection on top. Great video.
I want to say thank you for the assistance as I replaced the fuel sending unit on my 05 Altima. Little different set up on mine as I'm not sure if it was due to mine being a V6, 3.5 SE. I had two connections on top of sending unit and a lock ring. I would also recommend that you wear a ventilator mask as the fumes were pungent.
TIP: for our 2005 Altima with a different locking ring... After using a hammer and a screwdriver to get the ring off with great difficulty, we finally got it off but putting the ring back on with the hammer and a screwdriver was even harder. I got my air chisel out and it went on super fast at 100 psi.
Long story short - Had at least a year old problem and took it to a couple shops and didn't fix it . It was not revving up no matter if i floored pedal . It was gas pump and I went to junk yard got it for $34 including warranty . That was yesterday now running like a champ like new !! Yeah at very beginning suspected it might be pump but went with shop's recommendation . I trouble shooted it myself .
and yet I see nothiing in this video that addresses "How to Replace Fuel Sending Unit 04-06 Nissan Altima L4 2.5L" Unfortunate considering how much these things now cost.
Hi there i have a question.. my altima ran out of fuel and now it starts during the day but in the morning around 3am at weather temp of 75 degrees it wont start..should i replace the fuel pump.
The gas is a lubricant for the pump, if you run the tank out, do not try to start the vehicle, if you do (usually repeatedly due to denial), you can burn the pump up.
Can you help me? I have an 06 Altima with a code (P0462 fuel level sensor A circuit low output) Do I have to replace the pump? Car runs fine but Fuel gauge is off. Tank is empty at 1/4 tank. Thanks in advance if you have the answer.
i changed a fuel pump for 2012 Nissan Versa Hatchback 1.8 liter, and I did not release the fuel psi before or after, but I started on an empty tank, and I turned the key on and said that I have a half a tank except both fuel pumps match up the same and identical parts. I never had a any problems with the fuel gauge before, so I know that it had something to do with the installation of the fuel pump. I am curious of it might being something simple.
Yeah I got the part today but I don’t have a regular emissions I have a California emissions and it needs two of those little things on top of it I need help getting the right part???
Hi and thank you for this video. I have an 07 Nissan Sentra that I just replaced the fuel pump assembly on. I followed your instructions/video to a T! After I installed it I went and filled the tank. After 8 miles the digital gas gauge dropped to 3/4 of a tank. I'm like something isn't right so I went back and got a replacement and the same thing is showing with the new pump. I wanted to know if you could post a video/walk me through how to reset a digital fuel gauge? I really need your help. TIA. By the way I went online and looked at the manual and it doesn't show how to. 🤦🏾♂️
My 05 altima has 2 feed lines is it the same setup ..because my car cranks but doesn't turn over ..diagnosis at a shop determined bad fuel pump so I just ordered one from you guys (big fan of videos and parts) is there a video on the fuel pump with the dual line or is it the same process, also you think my car will start up after replaced pump?
Had a shop diagnose my 05 Altima not starting and they determined it was the fuel pump. My dilemma now is they're charging over $500 for replacing it. Given what is shown here is that a fair price?
So I'm getting P0462 Fuel level Sensor a Circuit is low. Is the sensor inside the fuel pump? Do just need to change the fuel pump. I have been getting erratic readings for months.
Hi just watch s your video on install a fuel pump on a altima I just did one the car started up fine I shut it off now the car won’t start it turns over but won’t start any hell on y thank u
Didn't know I had to disconnect negative terminal and remove fuel pump fuse. Now after installation my gas is reading full tank. I reinstall the whole thing correctly still reading full. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
+Moises Lara The install process will be different for the 2003 Altima. We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video may be enough to do this task. Thanks for checking us out!
So I replaced the fuel pump it’s cranked but now it’s still giving me no crank I primed it 3 times . Did the “turn it to On position and wait 30 seconds then cut it off and place it in the start position for 15” still no crank I hear the pump every time I cut the car in the on position but still no crank… what could be the main cause ?
So California emissions have bolts instead of the lock ring. Is this also why it only has one hose instead of two? Non-California emissions cars have two hoses.
+carlos contreras Yes, we carry the complete unit shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them www.1aauto.com/nissan-altima-fuel-pump-and-sending-unit-module/i/1afpu01360?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&WBxe-tY-A
I recently bought a fuel pump for my car. But the pump was not the same as the model I have in my car. I've been trying to return this part but I can't. Whenever I type my email and zipcode I never receive the email to process the return. When you buy it is all very quick and easy to return it is a completely different story. They don’t have phone number to call, they don’t reply emails.
You cannot. The tank is different. Federal emissions uses a turn style lock ring. California uses a bolt down ring. You would also have a open return port on the fuel pump
+Jahmal H Yes, The less fuel that is in the tank the less that the tank will weigh when trying to service the fuel pump. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
I did this on my Nissan now the fuel gauge does not read correctly. There is nothing wrong with the sending unit. The gauge reads full but will stop moving at a half tank. The gauge is not stuck. Shutting down the engine the guage goes to empty. I have tested the connection at the sending unit and I can't get full movement of the gauge but with resistance different than the sending unit. Is there a procedure to reteach the gauge?
To test the cluster: 1. Turn ignition switch ON (don't start car, just turn to on) 2. Switch the odo/trip meter to “trip A” or “trip B” and hold the button down (this will reset your trip meter to zero). 3. Turn ignition switch OFF (keep holding the trip button down). 3. Turn ignition switch back ON (still holding down trip button). 4. Take finger off the button and press the same button a few times quickly ( at least 3 times within 7 seconds). 6. The cluster is now in self-diagnosis mode (all the digits in the odometer will be light) 7. Press in the odo/trip button (if the cluster is good, you'll see the dials bounce up every time you press the button) 8. Switch off (which ends the cluster check).
+Leo Cardenas Here's a link to the replacement fuel pump shown in this video. It includes a new sending unit that will register how much gas is in the tank. Hope this helps you out goo.gl/fzthLf

+Cheems This part is listed to fit models with California emissions.
Silly question, but can you replace the California top with a federal top?
+Duane Bedgood We do not recommend it. Thanks for checking us out!
You cannot. The tank is different. Federal emissions uses a turn style lock ring. California uses a bolt down ring.
You would also have a open return port on the fuel pump
Same exact thing happened to me man lmaoo
thank you... helpful
How can i diagnose this problem..
And be sure it is the fuel pump, and not the crank/cam position sensor?
the sensors will throw codes and will not let the spark plugs fire

Can i change it without disconnecting the negative terminal?
only if you want sparks
It doesn't seem necessary if you remove the proper fuse (there won't be any electrical current to the pump without the fuse in place).
How much it cost with labour ?
After doing this did gas leak through the locking ring because gas it just coming right through mine
