Yes, money can buy happiness that comes at a price. It includes books, hobbies that cost money, being able to afford health care, etc. It cannot buy abstract happiness like love, connection, and fulfilment. Does that resonate?
It also depends on what you sacrifice to obtain that money. Loss of privacy as in the case of celebrities. Loss of peace if you obtained your wealth unethically. Loss of freedom, health, or family from highly demanding jobs.
I feel that to a certain extent, money can definitely buy things in life that make you happy. Thus, money can buy happiness. Not in every way, but in many ways money can buy happiness. Imagine you have 0$ and no home and you have to spend the majority of your day thinking about where your next meal will come from and you have to also think about where you will sleep and if that place will be safe for you. With money, those aren’t concerns. Those thoughts don’t corrupt your mind every day and with money, you can free up your time and pursue your passions which make you even happier. The man with no money doesn’t have time to pursue his passions because he is using that time to figure out where his most basic needs will come from in order to survive. So in conclusion, money can definitely buy a good deal of happiness. :)

Very timely. As someone who aspires to become financially independent in 17 years. This video made me realize that money is just a tool and shouldn’t be our end goal.
I saw a lot of these points in the book that you recommended, " Happy " by Derren Brown. Loved this video Ali. I am one of your older subscribers. Actually you were recommended by my teen son. Can I add one another item which has magical effect on happiness? It’s called giving or doing something for someone without expecting something in return. VWin- Win situation and boosts your self esteem and worth without spending at the shrink or on material things. So saves money as well. Keep up the good work!
If you put the amount of money on a logarithmic scale, the correlation of wealth and happiness continues to exist. If you look at the data now, a certain % increase in money will happiness continually. But the more money you make, the higher the total increase has to be, to create more happiness. If someone who earns 50k a year gets a 50k increase per year it has a much higher impact on him in contrast to someone who already earns 300k and gets the same increase. For the same effect he’d have to earn an extra 300k.
On the aspect of hedonic adaptation, a good way to "avoid it" is to remember before the massive change (in Ali's case, remember your old car) as said by Arthur Schopenhauer.
Money buys happiness insofar as it can get you basic needs like food, water, warmth, rest, security. Money isn't necessarily important for some psychological needs such as having an intimate relationship and friends, so excessive money shouldn't be acquired at the expense of that. Some people find money important for other psychological needs such as prestige and feelings of accomplishment, but that's not my yardstick. When it comes to self-fulfilment needs, having a certain amount of money is important in being able to achieve one's potential in whatever interest/creative activity. But it needs to be remembered that acquiring too much money can be counterproductive here, as instead of providing the means for self-fulfilment, it may be squandering someone's time. And just for the purpose of buying expensive toys that they'll hedonically adapt to anyway. The best thing you can do find something fulfilling, that also provides money for basic needs.
I've always said that money can't buy happiness, but it can buy you comfort. And if I'm going to be miserable, I'd rather be miserable in comfort, LOL! As it turns out, I'm happy even though I haven't got much money, so that's just as well, really. I think a lot of it depends on when you think you can say you have "enough". I have enough. More would be nice, I aspire to having more, and I wouldn't run short of ideas for a very long time on great experiences to have with it or beautiful things to buy, but I can't deny that I have enough now - meaning I can cover all the essentials of life, so everything else on top of that is just gravy. Comparison would probably only make me unhappy so I don't bother with it. Why put off my happiness until I have more? By the way, Ali, you're looking verrrrry good in this video! (You're welcome.)

The question itself is a bit misleading because money is so intrinsic in all we do and we need it to satisfy both the very basic needs as well as what is futile. Since we have managed put a 'safety net' aside and start investing we can focus other things like travel and most importantly fulfillment. For example having the freedom to change our jobs if we want to. Thanks for the video Ali!
To a certain extent, yes, but a certain amount of happiness can only be achieved by self gratitude. By all means, I would love to be wealthy and have financial freedom, but there's more to it! Great video!
Yes, Money Can Buy Happiness. Spending money can, in fact, increase your happiness - if it's spent in a way that jibes with your personality. ... Researchers analyzed 76,000 bank transaction records, examining what people spent their money on - either material objects or experiences.
Can money buy happiness? No. But it *can* buy a certain standard of living, without which your life would be utter misery. Those who claim money can't buy happiness (or peace of mind, or freedom, or options), have never gone without it.

I remember someone telling me about the concept of the “upper” and “lower” hand. The upper hand can always give to the lower hand, but the lower hand can never give to the upper hand. An analogy of the rich and the poor. To me this means, the more money you have (aka power and resources) the more your able to give and help others around you. The less money you have, the less your able to help others. It sounds kind of corny, but I believe the reason to accumulate money (power), will be to help others with that said money (power).

We all want what money can buy. Not money itself. So focus on good relationships, fulfillment, and clear and comfortable vision with an up-to-date prescription.
I think the lack of money can definitely cause unhappiness. But there is a diminishing return as you get more. Having a friend or someone to talk to/rely upon is often better than £!00k in the bank. There's only so much happiness you can get from purchasing things.

Is it a problem that I was distracted by Casey Neistat's spelling of "fulfillment"?
I remember someone telling me about the concept of the “upper” and “lower” hand. The upper hand can always give to the lower hand, but the lower hand can never give to the upper hand. An analogy of the rich and the poor.
To me this means, the more money you have (aka power and resources) the more your able to give and help others around you. The less money you have, the less your able to help others.
It sounds kind of corny, but I believe the reason to accumulate money (power), will be to help others with that said money (power).
Great content my man!!
From personal experience. The answer is no, money cannot make you happy.
no, it cant, but it can support my happiness :")
Happiness is not the goal
Keep killing it!!
Money buys time, in time you can find out what makes you happy. Without time, you won’t have chance to discover new aspects of life and also yourself.
I've always wanted to invest in forex/stock trading, after a few trials I realized that trading without a good mentor and guidance is a waste of time and money.
I have always wanted to expand my business but I could not do that because the cash was not forth coming as I had planned. Getting referred to Mr Andy Calistoga played a great role in that vision. Mr Andy is a great mentor and the best trader/Account manager on my list.
Honesty and trust means a lot to me that's why I still trade with Mr Andy. It's been 7months now and I haven't had reasons to doubt his competence. Traders/Account managers like him are hard to come by.
I'm having a wonderful time trading with Mr Andy Calistoga. His trading system is simply the best. I traded for almost two months without making a single profit but all that changed with Mr Andy around
How can I get to Mr. Andy?

We all want what money can buy. Not money itself. So focus on good relationships, fulfillment, and clear and comfortable vision with an up-to-date prescription.
rich people: money can't buy happiness
Also rich people: stop taxing me, i need that money
Not funny
Without money you can't live in peace but no one tells you that without money you can't even die in peace.
KGF CHAPTER 1.
When Ali says "If you are anything like me who likes to listen to interviews of the celebrities who are rich but miserable" lmao
I think the lack of money can definitely cause unhappiness. But there is a diminishing return as you get more. Having a friend or someone to talk to/rely upon is often better than £!00k in the bank. There's only so much happiness you can get from purchasing things.
