    I got one of those coloured bulbs and it works fine with my phone on the bluetooth app. However I cannot seem to setup google assistant on my phone to link with it? Do I need a google home or philips bridge to enable voice commands?

    I am looking into getting the Hue Go - two of them, ideally - you’re saying that the Bluetooth version doesn’t need a bridge? I am also looking into making them behave like disco lights and get them to pretty much flash in time to the beat of any music source!

      the bluetooth versions can be controlled by a bluetooth app on your phone, but if your trying to get them to act as a disco, which i have done, then i think you may need the bridge, and possibly a hue sync, or you might be able to be controlled direct from a computer,
      in my experience i wasn't able to control straight from my phone

    I’m here for knowledge before investing in HUE products. We have Alexa devices (Echo Show, thermostats) throughout our home, very under utilized in other connectivity) but that’s going to change. Your video has been so helpful! Earned a subscriber 😊

    I recently bought the echo generation 4. Can I get the lights and control them through the original app and pick anything I want without the bridge?

      If by original app you mean Philips hue Bluetooth app, if you buy a bridge then the hue Bluetooth apps will transfer over to hue app, if your talking of Alexa app then I think you have to add items over manually yourself,
      if you add to hue app and bridge they will automatically appear in Alexa app

    You need the hue bridge for some android/iOS apps as well ;)

    Hello, I'm a bit confused. I purchased a hue 75W light bulb (2 actually) and I'm having trouble connecting them to my Echo Show 15 (also dot). When I called Philips they told me that I can either directly connect to them via Bluetooth and control them through the Hue app OR I can connect to them via a bridge and Hue app. They said that without the bridge the lights will NOT work with Echo voice commands. Interesting note, one of the lights connects to the Alexa app, the other does not, but neither work with voice commands, AND when I ask Alexa to discover devices, it finds bulbs I purchased and returned weeks ago because they did not function as I wanted them to, but won't find the new hue lights. Stumped!

      This is the same misinformation I was getting years ago when I purchased my echo plus about 6-7 years ago, the echo show has built in zigbee, this will allow you to control your lights by voice, through the Alexa app. the echo dot dose not have built in zigbee, but because you have a echo show on your network your dot will be able to control your lights through your echo show. Although if you have hub it has more control and functions and i would recommend you get one but for routines dimming and colour change this can be done through the Alexa app, the app has changed since I originally set mine up but go to devices, then + , add device, light, then select other, (not Philips hue as this is when you have a hub) and then this is where it’s now changed click on zigbee and follow instructions, when you give it a name this is what it is called when using your echo

    Can you set the Bluetooth lights to come on at s certain time?

    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  Рік тому +1

      I’m afraid I can’t help you on that because I don’t use them via Bluetooth, as there is no need if your using wifi. My best guess is that they won’t because Bluetooth is a short range signal that bypasses the hub, and the device to send the signal would be your phone, perhaps the app on the phone would work but reliability of Bluetooth on phones is not great, the hue lights work better over wifi and I would suggest that you look at transferring over to WiFi

    Is a bridge required to link lights to a Philips Ambilight TV or is it possible to use a Echo?

    • @RichManPoorTech

      I’m afraid I can’t help you in that one as I don’t have a Philips tv

      Bridge. Any Philips dependent integrations require a bridge.
