Instead of screwing the channels into the underside of the cabinets, you could use 3M Dual Lock, which comes in both rolls and short strips. You wouldn't need much to hold it, and it would be easily removable. Dual Lock is also great for holding toe kicks to cabinets because it holds well and makes them easily removable if/when you need to do something under a cabinet, like run power for lighting.
@@SmartHomeSolver If you prefer using the screwed in clips you can buy an offset screwdriver as well. They're set to a 90 degree angle just like hex wrenches are, for exactly that purpose. With the clips you don't ever have to worry about adhesive failures. The other option is to replace the packaged screws with hex screws so you can use a hex wrench. Even the toughest adhesive strips hate particle board, and unfinished wood. Think of trying to stick painter's tape to a piece of anything you've sanded, and not properly cleaned. The particles create a barrier between the adhesive, and the mounting surface, and the adhesive will stick to that rather than the surface. I made a custom desktop using MDF, and the adhesive strips on my cable routing clips constantly failed due to the surface particles of the MDF getting dislodged from the surface. Even when there was no visible damage to the desk, the adhesive would get ruined. The only way I was able to stop it was to seal the MDF where the clips would go.
BTF is the best I have found for led strips. I like the newer leds that don’t have a wire for rgb just one wire to assign the colors. The individually addressable is what I am talking about

Hey there, Jed here. Could i use an arduino uno instead of some controller? its just that im more familiar with arduino. Also, is it ok if i use this idea for my school project? Thanks
The "warm" and "cool" settings are nice, but I feel like they may be unnecessary. I had a set of mid grade 12v RGB lights in the past and when I wanted "cool" I put them on any brightness in the middle white portion of the color wheel and when I wanted "warm" I'd put them closer to an orange/yellow hue at about a maximum 80% brightness.
Use a 1/4" ratchet with the appropriate socket for your screwdriver bit. Great for putting in screws under the cabinet kick. Buy (or cut) a short bit if necessary.

Could you please share the make and model of the motion sensor to trigger your under cabinet lights to automatically turn on. Thank you for making this video. I recently stayed in a hotel that had strip lights mounted under the cabinets. They were motion activated when walking in the bathroom at night. Such a great idea to help navigate when half asleep without turning on the bright bathroom lights.

Is there a way to automate strip lights to turn on just a section with a motion sensor? 2 suggestions, we can use a esp8266 as controller it will be much much cheaper in terms of cost and 2nd, instead of putting the wires outside, you can station them inside, by placing a small hall on the bottom of gate, the wires wont be visible this way and there will be no problem of hygiene.
Great video and loving the end result but I have a big question here: who the hell has mains outlets in their bathroom?? (Disclaimer: from the UK here where such things are 'not done'.)
Got a question about the wizz led light strips and not sure who to ask, but my strips are making the obnoxious high pitch buzz humm sound that usually occurs with like dimmer led bulbs with like a non dimmable socket or vs versa, or when its not on a power sourse for the right amount of power. Wtv ya know, i have mine directly in a wall outlet and i have no other electronics near the lights, all connections are good nothing off and then i decided ide try putting one of my little clamp things that i use on my stereo speaker wire did that and it sort of helped wondering if maybe i used a few of them if itd make the buzz sound go away completely. Feeling like i have hyper sensitive ears which i do, but no one else hears the buzzing sound like i do, sucks.
I am looking for a way to install the LED wire directly to the existing light switch so when i turn on the main light, the LED comes on as well...how do I do that?
Thanks for the instructions and product links. When I follow the link to the zigbee controller, the description says I need a zigbee hub to operate. Is that hub required to simply turn on the lights by plugging in, or is the hub only required to interface with Alexa type controls?
Help me figure it out please, I received 3 packs of Govee LED Strip Light M1. Each tape is 16.4 feet, you can include only two and then the total length can reach 32.8 feet. But I have a 41 foot room and would like a consistent effect, no chunks. How to connect an additional piece of tape so that it would be part of the main flight, so that the effect could be as one. Thank you in advance.
Is it possible to connect that LED strip to ESP32? Can't find explanation how to connect LED strip without IC chip to ESP32. It seems like I need different controller.
do these connectors, to the wires work with RGBIC led strips? or any thoughts on govee RGBIC strip lights where you can cut, extend with wires then plug it back to the LED strip etc, and bend the LED strip at certain places with side connectors?
Thank you for your video. It’s helpful. What I’m planning to do is put light strips around my windows which are double hung. then I can get rid of my Christmas lights instead of having to store them all year. Plus, I will be able to change the color according to the holiday example: red for Valentine’s Day green for Saint Paddy‘s day and so on. I will keep a few for decorating bushes and stuff outside but Not a whole mess like I have now. but I’m just trying to figure out what to do with the LED lights. They need to plug into the wall and hopefully I can use only one remote to control them all. Plus I think it’d be a good idea if they were waterproof. I get a little moisture around the windows once in awhile but mostly they’re dry. Can I get 12 foot strips or cut them to length and then add a plug to power them? I really don’t want to deal with batteries. any help you offer will be really appreciated. Thank you.
Nice video. Love the need for overlord approval :). Thanks for the chuckle. I'm just starting down this path. I'm looking for an affordable light source under my ~ 5-6' desk so I can see the buttons on some machines under there. I don't need voice activation and as a first pass, I'd probably settle for a human switched with tone options (warm/cool etc). Got any videos showing that kind of desk setup? The "good" ones in your video were outside of budget for me.
The question is just if that is a wet bath or if it's just a dressing room type space. Because placing either electrical outlets or electrical equipment on the floor can't be good if the floor might flood.
What's the Max Length ? I'm looking at doing around 31 feet combined for a kitchen project. Do you think that would be to much for this ? Thanks for the video BTW !!!

I need a pro to weigh in. Which is better soldering the wires to the strips or these clips ? I don’t want to lose power
Really need to know how the motion sensor is homed up to power this? Looks like the motion sensor is no where near your setup so is it wireless?
Hello ! How many strip light can we connect into the controller please ?
Very nice setup
And thanks for the advice
But you haven't explained us how did you manage to control it .
Does it work directly with smartthings? Or just with specific app
Thanks again
2 suggestions, we can use a esp8266 as controller it will be much much cheaper in terms of cost and 2nd, instead of putting the wires outside, you can station them inside, by placing a small hall on the bottom of gate, the wires wont be visible this way and there will be no problem of hygiene.
Great video and loving the end result but I have a big question here: who the hell has mains outlets in their bathroom?? (Disclaimer: from the UK here where such things are 'not done'.)
Quick question, was there a reason everytime you showed a wire connector you had the wires in different locations? Im genuinely curious.
How do you connect the gateway to Alexa? Is there a zigbee gateway needed, or is there another option?
@smarthomesolver you can use a right angle drill bit next time you need to put a screw under a hard to reach area like that.
How did u hook up the automatic light switch thingy to turn ur lights on when u enter the bathroom?
I am looking for a way to install the LED wire directly to the existing light switch so when i turn on the main light, the LED comes on as well...how do I do that?
Can you tell me What kind of effects do you get with that controller
Is the app control for color selection included with the LED light strip or from the Zigbee controller? Thanks
Great video. What is the sensor you used to turn them on automatically? Could not find info about that in links or comments
what do you recommend for a motion sensor and how do you wire it in?
Do I have to buy a special device to allow me to control the lights through my Google Home/nest/Phillips Hughes system
Love the name, Cord hider box. 😂. I probably would have named it the same.🤣
Can these controllers be just turned on and off by regular light switches? Or does it need hub, phones, wifi?
May i know what app to adjust the light? And how to connect to the app?
Is it possible to connect that LED strip to ESP32? Can't find explanation how to connect LED strip without IC chip to ESP32. It seems like I need different controller.
Tight space screwing: try a right angle ratcheting screwdriver with multiple bits. It's a great tool to have on hand
Whats the cost savings on these compared to Hue?
do these connectors, to the wires work with RGBIC led strips? or any thoughts on govee RGBIC strip lights where you can cut, extend with wires then plug it back to the LED strip etc, and bend the LED strip at certain places with side connectors?
Use some 45° track to help shoot the light out instead of just down. I did the toe kicks in my bathrooms and it's the best.
Thank you.
can this be setup to use with a wall (or other physical) switch?
Great video!! Can’t wait to get these set up!
Do you have a video of how you set up that controller? I am looking for LED light strips that will work with Apple Homekit.
What's the Max Length ? I'm looking at doing around 31 feet combined for a kitchen project. Do you think that would be to much for this ? Thanks for the video BTW !!!
