- In this video, I show you how to perform an engine oil change on a Kohler Command Pro 14HP Engine. This engine is mounted to a County Line 40 Ton Log Splitter, but you'll find them mounted to a number of pieces of power equipment, including band saw mills.
Here's a link to the oil we used and what Kohler recommends:

The County Line 40 Ton Log Splitter is a crucial piece of equipment in our initiative to stay warm so we're sure to go though the maintence each fall to help ensure longevity.
Thanks for watching!
Nicely done! I change mine ever year but I also added a hour meeter just in case I get close to the 100 hours before the year end. Take care and ill see you on the next one-Tony
Have you run that thing for more than 100 hours in a year?! That's a lot of wood.... I've seen your time challenges...
@@Academy_Farm I haven’t yet. I’m at 30 since January. Probably wishful thinking more than anything I guess.
I have the 30 ton. Was gonna make a video of changing the oil next time, but now I don’t need to 😄. Same engine, less hp. Filling it with the funnel is a drag, and definitely prone to accidental messes. I also find the location of the drain plug makes a mess around the base of the engine. An extension would make it a lot better. Next time I hope to figure out what the threads are on the drain plug to see about an extension pipe for the drain, like many lawn tractors and snowblowers have.
Always room for more videos! Most everything's been done already! This is one of the "neater" small engines I have to change the oil; everything else makes a huge mess.
@@Academy_Farm Funny! It’s about my messiest engine, and hardest to refill. Changing the oil filter on the lawn tractor is right up there too, but I think I have that figured out now… having said that, I’ll probably make a mess next time… Enjoy splitting! I still do most of mine by hand and pull out the splitter for the knotty and/or large diameter stuff.
A small oil extractor pump is what I use on my small engine. It works really good!
What about the oil filter???
@@ozarkarts no oil filter on these engines.
@@Academy_Farm I saw the white filter hanging down and assumed it was an engine oil filter - I guess that is a filter for the hydrolic oil?
@ozarkarts yes. That's a much less frequent maintenence item.
