- 2022 Oregon 3000 Series log splitter with the 6.5HP Kohler engine will not start or stay running! Issues with not wanting to start since brand new. Very frustrating problem, but I'll show you how to fix it very easily.
You R the Man ... That was my problem. Thanks
Glad to help!
I had the same problem with my splitter I found the problem with mine by myself I was looking through and see that it's a common problem THANK You for Your problem solving
Thanks! I think my problem is a faulty on off switch, but you led me really close. I unplugged the green wire like you said and it still didn’t start, so I unplugged the other two black wires and it started right up. Appreciate the help!
Thanks for your straight to the point fix. I have the 9.5 hp and wham bam its fixed thanks to you!!! Great work!!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!! After battling with it for over two hours it’s running now.
Just watched you video, tried it and it started first pull. Thanks!
great video...straight to the point and didn't waste 5 minutes of our lives explaining log splitters...lol
HELL YEAH DUDE! screw that little wire. I was about to go buy a Harbor Freight Predetor 6.5 THANK YOU.

Thank you Sir,
Saved me a lot of time and money!!
Glad it helped!
I'll have to give this a try. I have a brand new crimson force splitter with the same Kohler engine. Bought 4 months ago. Got it home, wouldn't start. Checked oil and it was over full. Drained the proper amount of oil. Started right up. Split a bunch of wood past few months. After I was finished using it I drained float bowl and tank. It's been sitting inside garage for two months. Put fresh fuel in today and no start I'll check the sensor and ignition switch tomorrow and see how it goes
Update. Not anything to do with oil level. I went thru typical diagnostics. Fuel, spark ✔️ no compression. Zero. Removed valve cover. Exhaust valve stuck open. Bent. Interesting. Engine has less than 2hrs on it. Kohler requires you to take yo one of their suggested repair facilities. Can't wait to hear their bullshit story. In the meantime I'll just install another engine.
Awesome tip man.... thanx for sharing. As soon as we get back to the Mountain we will give that a try. God Bless!!
Let me know if it works! Good luck!
Nice catch , man!
Thanks for the information. I just got it going.
I tried to start my splitter yesterday with the same engine. After fooling around i found i had no spark. I came across your video and got spark back. Just have to check the oil before running it now but no big deal. I should be doing that anyway.
Thanks for that! Saw another video that has the shutdown / startup process a bit different. As you said the engine is easy to flood. My shutdown procedure is to turn off the fuel and let the engine die from lack of fuel (while the engine is running). To re-start cold, I turn on the choke, turn on the fuel, and keep the start / stop switch on stop. I pull the cord twice ( to fill the carb bowl) with the engine on stop. I then turn the switch on and pull the cord. It starts first time every time. I dreaded trying to start the splitter, but now have little angst. Not my idea, but taken from another UA-cam video. Hope it helps!!
🔥🔥🔥 Worked on Boss Industrial 20 ton
common problem on small engines for lawnmowers and generators. The OPS grounds out the coil when tripped and kills spark
having same problem going to try this now thanks!!!
Awesome tip. Thanks.
Thanks, I own the exact same splitter!!!
Have the same splitter and same problem. Will disconnect the wire and try.
yep disconnected green wire and it fired right up! back to splitting wood thanks so much, had a total of 2.5 hrs on this machine craftsman 27 ton!( shame on Kohler)
Fuck yes
Nothing like starting the firewood season on maintenance issues to find out it’s a wire problem
Great, I think that's my poblem, thanks
Thank you!
That's a low oil level switch.
