Why is it such a trend to paint everything white?! It takes away all of the charm and uniqueness! After dealing with white walls and cabinets for years while renting, I want to have some color in my house!
But it's not a trend. It's an illusion to make a room look brighter, open and larger. It's also neutral, meaning if its rental, its easier to sell then a part with blue walls or green. It will actually turn a lot of people of. Plus its easier to design around. It easier to have bigger thing like the walls, floor, etc neutral and have piece like furniture, art, etc be louder, because it's easier to change them with your style, a lot harder for the other things if you want to change that. Btw this isnt by any means, telling you that white walls or lighter colors are the best for you, because its you're place and you can whatever you want, but why it's the best as a design choice to appeal to the general public.
Taylor Wilcox then don’t paint it white, this is just a tip, use colours from the same palet that compliment each other, white just makes a room look lighter
I would never paint my walls white, but for the illusion of certain things or spaces to seem brighter I agree with what was said, it is easier and renter friendly for white walls. I rather go with a light grey to bright things up and put accent colors around that. But I am doing two tone colors for my cabinets, my space doesnt get alot of natural light so I must do lighter colors to account for the lack of light.
Great one day diy projects A couple helpful pointers to make projects last The vinyl floor, should always have a top coat to protect pattern especially in traffic areas. Gutter project support board should always be primed with paint or stain especially out in the weather to prevent weathering Hope these extra steps helps keep your projects lasting longer. Constructively Thank You
That video was made for Buzzfed. They own it and it's totally legal for them to use it. That like saying a 1D can't sing the songs anymore, that they made before zayn left
that rain gutter idea gave me an idea I can use for these honeysuckle vines - I need to plant something for the birds and bugs, so i'm gonna make a holder that goes over the back fence, using honeysuckle vine... just thinking out loud right now, but I think it's a great idea so far
Wow, the first two have a lot of problems. First, make sure your cabinets are solid wood and not veneer otherwise you could sand right through the veneer. You can't use any old paint or stain. You need some high quality stuff with an enamel hardener otherwise it will look like crap...not to mention that painting them with a brush is not a good way to do it. Buy a drawer handle drilling jig to put on the hardware...otherwise, good luck getting them lined up correctly. Your nail gun isn't set properly, the nails aren't shot into the wood all the way. You can see the heads sticking out. Also, use some wood glue in addition to the nails so things don't start separating.
Actually, Lindy.... I'm very seriously considering building a firepit. For the most part- to burn bits of yard work trimmings and branch clippings. Maybe some organic trash to help speed up my composting so I can get some nice super rich soil going for the raised beds I'm building. That and the amount of sticks I have laying around needing bundling and all those dead palm leaves on the palm tree in the front... So much work to clip them all down and bundle them up. Better to just burn them, I think.
Awwww the heart they drew on the fireplace 💕 Also, love that this was in my recommended seeing as I move next weekend. Def will have to try some of these out!
Awesome videos!! I've used many of these hacks and they work great! It's even inspired me to create my own UA-cam channel!! I Would love to get some feedback and comments to help me improve! You 🎸 ! Keep up the great videos
OMG YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! Super creative and helpful. Thanks guys. I mostly fix broken things on my channel but this is making me just want to redo my whole house haha.
Oh pretty, I bet they are going to build a mantle, nice. & I wonder what they’re doing to the...bricks...(1:37)no no no, no, WAIT, STOP, NO!!!!!!! DONT PUT WHITE PAINT ON EXPOSED BRICK! Oh my goodness i don’t know why that upset me so. lol Other than that, nice video! :)
Bet they restrict using that cheap looking wood over their fireplace in about a years time. Would been better spending the $ on some nicer quality wood finishing
Are these all Ned and Ariel's house upgrades? I was kinda sad we didn't get to see them renovate their whole house in the previous videos of them buying their first house
I was thinking of painting our grey-brick fireplace off-white for a more modern but still-cosy look. Unfortunately, my brick is not so 'smooth' as yours. How do you paint something like that? Also, it seems it would soak up a lot of paint so is there a tip/trick before painting REAL brick fireplaces? Thanks
Me encantó sus proyectos ❣️😍 Gostaria saber dónde compraste a la plantilla de stencil, estoy interesada en una! Gracias por compartir! Saludos de España!🙋
Jaycie Abbs icouldnt agree more, who would put dark wood then white wood?.. it looks like a first time DIY kitchen , they should have gone with matching wood.. js
I've also REALLY wanted to stencil my vinyl flooring, until it can be replaced with real tile, but I worry about it fading and peeling easily, especially in high traffic areas...Does anyone have any experience with stenciled floors?
i just realized that it was Ned and Ariel on the fireplace clip
크리스틴마리 same
A lot of the video is Ned and Ariel
About 1/3
And Bean!
...that didn’t sink a single nail head...
and Bean!
For some reason I just got so happy to see Ned and Ariel in a Nifty video
Like the biuild up frame for the fireplace
to take beautiful brick and paint it, especially white, always looks cheap and industrial. Reminds me of school.
The dark color of the brick usually makes rooms look smaller, and red limits style options.
I hated when they painted it!!
If it looked more aged instead of fake brick it would’ve looked good. But it being a solid color ruined it
Glad I’m not the only one that got upset when they painted it over. Idk 🤷♀️ maybe I’m just not into that white style.

you could also use very light/pastel colors too, probably. i would say to avoid a pure white in most cases, but it boils down to choice, really
@@Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat THANK YOU!

Nifty: Everyone left so we're just gonna repost videos and clips that did well a few years ago
But it's new footage bc Ariel's pregnant so??? But I agree
Nah it was new footage of ned and ariel refurnishing their home
Actually nevermind, parts of it are reused
Love that your gonna gain revenue from Ariel and Ned even tho Ned doesn’t work for you anymore
Is the try guys leave buzzfeed?
Thats why they have their own channel?
everyone we loved left buzzfeed, and for good reasons@@vebian02
That video was made for Buzzfed. They own it and it's totally legal for them to use it.
That like saying a 1D can't sing the songs anymore, that they made before zayn left
They went back after leaving buzzfeed to record this video for nifty i believe
i feel like buzzfeeds idea of an upgrade it to paint something white ie brick/wood or stain it dark
Painting the fireplace made me so sad :(
Clifford Smolko so did the painters themselves lol it looks like they hesitated at first
Same.
The type if stones used looked cheap and had no charm so painting it white was the best option
I was just gonna write that I loved thefireplace the natural color

Paint the floor?... don’t waist all that time and effort, it won’t last. 18 years doing flooring plz trust me.
Why would someone want advice from an 18 year professional? I dont like when things make sense!
Simply paint everything white!
Boom! That's how the magic happens
These we're lovely! I love the fireplace upgrade

LOVE the painted floor with stencils.❤ Great video.
Stick an envelope under where you are drilling to catch the dust, so you don't have to vacuum 😉
Very Clevet, I will use this ideas for my new home for sure 🙌🏻
First time homeowners:
Step 1- Have expensive power tools.
You can rent a lot of their for fairly cheap.
First time home owners: make a Firepit because that’s what you definitely will need when you just moved in.
Actually, Lindy....

@@lindymoore to be fair, it's project for first time home owners, nothing about them just moving in.
You don't need 'expensive' power tools but everyone should at least have a decent drill in their house.
1:20 how old is this footage if Ned and Ariel are in it??
S J
Cant’t be cause Ariel’s pregnant and that happened in February
Good eye!
FYI, stain does not prevent rot, you need to seal it.
Why would you even use reclaimed wood if you're just going to sand and stain it...
i’m glad i’m not the only one upset about the fireplace
Do y'all ever do anything new anymore
Feels like we should have a workshop space with all the required instruments then do all experiments 😀
These are all great diys you make it look so easy!!
I loved that rain gutter idea! But I would paint it to look more stylish. I will try for my small backyard! :)
so any first time homeowner diy projects... PAINT EVERYTHING lol got it!
Ned and Ariel!! Omgeeh theyre doing it in thier new house!!!👏👏👏
I've always wanted a fire pit like that ❤❤
Excellent 'cooler' table. could have beauitful plants\flowers\herbs instead of ice.
The song playing makes me think the chorus line is “I can build a castle (I can build a castle)”.
1:38 is that Ned from the try guys!!!!?????
y'all really like your corner bracket
paint everything white. got it!
Nice job sir. Thank you
Great Job! Cool👍
Great tips and advice!
Sand the painted brick so some of the red come through, that plain white fire place is so dull
I like the music! What is that song that keeps repeating?
Great ideas!
Using construction adhesive for a firepit?... and that’s just one thing... i have no words
Why do your upgrades always require wiping out stuff with color and character and making them plain and white?
Awwww the heart they drew on the fireplace 💕 Also, love that this was in my recommended seeing as I move next weekend. Def will have to try some of these out!

3:01.. That's Ned and Ariel.. From The Try Guys! Lol. Wow.
please make sure u use fireproof paint for the fire place
I just noticed that it was Ned and Ariel doing the fire place upgrade!!!!
OMG YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! Super creative and helpful. Thanks guys.
I mostly fix broken things on my channel but this is making me just want to redo my whole house haha.
homeowner has the word "meow" in it. you're welcome.
We've seen the fireplace makeover before - not that long ago either.

No thanks, I'm good they just posted a house tour on ‘The Try Guys’ channel
This is one of the best diy videos I’ve seen in a long time
watching them repaint that lovely red brick fireplace plain white, rip
So many projects with a new house, will do these to start. Thanks!

Why would you paint that red brick??
Video: "just paint it white"
I love this video! Keep up the great work. We are sharing this video on our socials.
Emmy Braxtly
Nice ! Job
I hate when people paint brick~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woouuu. Ned and Ariel... That's all I see in the whole of the comment section.. chilllll!!!
This video could have been 10 seconds long - Paint Everything xD
There is a big difference between "DIY" and "Making stuff with whatever you have left over".
💯 💯 💯 !!!
Ned and Ariel are in this video. This is how old the footage is. 😂
Qué chulas las ideas ❣️👏👏👏😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Taste is subjective
But I don't really think slapping some white paint on every surface in the house is cute or practical
Did anyone else realize at 1:21 that was Ned And Ariel (Ned- Ex buzzfeed producer and a Try Guy)
Me encantó sus proyectos ❣️😍
Gostaria saber dónde compraste a la plantilla de stencil, estoy interesada en una!

Ned and Ariel did it so good, they upgraded their entire house and then they quit .. stop being mad they used their footage they still winned 😂
In this episode: How to ruin your first home.
CameronShute such a mood
1:28 Ned n Ariel ❤️ n wait Wesley's also there...in mummy's tummy
I saw Ned and I clicked.
Buzzfeed DIY:
step 1-paint it white
The fireplace painted white looks tacky to me. Not a fan of painted brick. Loved a lot of the ideas also!!!!
How long ago was this filmed? Do they have the rights to all of this Ned and Ariel content?
Your channel is very amazing
Basically paint everything white.
I wouldn't dare to think to paint the kitchen cabinet white! I need to do a makeover but not this! That white does remind of the hospital. Bah.
Ned and Ariel!!
Whyyy do they paint all of these pretty things white?
@3:21 geez, is that paint on the floor🤦🏾♀️ u had one job!!!
Why are ned and ariel.in this what
1:21 Ned and Ariel!!
You never paint brick white without grey accents that’s like the number one rule or just don’t paint it cause it looks good with being painted
I didn’t realized that Ned and Ariel are doing the Diy’s! Is anyone here came from the Try Guys Channel?
Now i want a house
Who are Ned and Ariel?
Ned and Ariel 💝💝
good job👏👏
Need to adjust the depth setting on that nail gun so the nails go past the surface of the wood. That looks like shit.
5:59 is the floor stain free?
Buzz feed nifty plz reply my comment.
When Ariel and ned can do it, we can do it too
Hi what nail gun are you using?
These ideas are brilant. love them 😍😍😍
Is it just me or is the before kitchen better than the new one other than the flaws
