As someone who also owns a shop order Schecter guitar, welcome to the club. The Japanese schecters blow the doors off the Diamond series schecters. There are some absolute steals on the used market in Japan. And luckily schecter Japan makes guitars for every genre. My personal ambition is a custom shop MIJ schecter. Also these guitars are made/finished in the same factory as ESP guitars.

I knew you've long been a big fan of these I just hadn't found one that really jumped out to me prior to this. The quality really is top notch, it is just being spoiled by all the other domestic only Japanese guitars I've played has me expecting it! I think if more people were able to try something like this or the other options we'd have to had a hard look at our offerings in the USA and the prices.

I like that first chord progression you played starting with an E, really cool. I've had a Schecter Tele style guitar for 11 years now and I like it as much as the USA Fenders i have. It's the PT model fashioned after the tele's Townshend was playing on the Who's 1982 tour, my first concert. His had a Fender style head stock too which mystified me at the time. Then I found out later that Schecter had a license to make Fender parts for a few years in the 80's. Mine of course just has the beak style head stock but in every other aspect it looks like a Fender, except it is heavier and has humbuckers in it. I agree with you , Schecter needs to get on board and start selling models similar to the one you just tested out, over here. They would certainly be popular.

Thanks Dan, and I've seen a few of those older PT and strat style Schecters in my time looking for older Japanese guitars. Great stuff man! It would be awesome if they could get a variation of this guitar here in the US even though I doubt it would be Japanese made.

That bridge is such a bonus to a great instrument, I live in Thailand & a few guitars make the journey here from Japan that aren't mainstream & just carried in by Thai guys coming back from their factory job. I tend to look out for '62 Tele customs but I think Uncle larry just hiked the prices up...

Custom Tele's had a bit of a price hike even used in Japan. They are especially sought after now I believe since Fender USA or MIM offer a double bound model outside of a MIM one with a sunburst finish and the shops caught onto it.

I've been to Ishibashi a lot over the past few years - and I have never seen this guitar there. This must have been a quick in / out thing. The annoying thing about Schecter in Japan is that they have a very limited range of guitars that they sell here, all pretty generic S and T style guitars and a few more metal guitars. But it's like 1/3rd of the US range. Like I cannot even buy the MIJ California Classic in Japan.

I have a Korean made C1 Helraiser Hybrid and its one of the best made, best fit n finish guitars ive ever held. Great to see that you have discovered Schecter's Japan only range of guitars.
It's frustrating that these are only available as a personal import even here in the UK
Which makes no sense, other brands such as Ibanez and even Fender sell made in Japan
    models.
I now prefer the Japanese models over the ones made elsewhere.
    Enjoy this one Jim.🙂👍

I've known about them for a while, but the models I've known about never really did anything for me for the F style guitars or more modern/metal guitars... I didn't expect to find one in this style and I'm really happy I did.

@@AudiomoMusic The Japanese have been doing this for years with all types of consumer products.
It wasn't until the magazine reporters started visiting Japan to see what new gear had been released
that they found that the most desirable was never exported and back in the 70's there was no internet
to enable us to import them.

      @AudiomoMusic  4 місяці тому +1

I really like them but they fall into such a weird category, I will focus a whole stream or video on them if you want and talking about them but for me and what those cost you're talking about hand made custom instruments in Japan that are imo a bit better as the competition - this isn't Gretsch's fault it's the issue of having them available worldwide under the FMIC family of brands.

Being a Fender guy, I tried my best to like p90s... can't do it; too much midrange while being too hot and too dark sounding. I ordered an Edwards LP special from Japan, played great, sounded "meh" at best even after a more "vintage" sounding pup set swap, then mini hums (love them on a jagmaster, hate them on a Gibson style).

    • @AudiomoMusic

It took me many years to come around to them being primarily a telecaster player, just gotta have the right amp for it and dial it in and I get all the chime I could ever want and have a bridge pickup that reminds of a tele on steroids - but I can understand why some people just don't care for em.

Also that combo of cream and white shouldn't work at all for me, but found it somehow looked cool during the playing clips/didn't annoy me like I would assume if i'd just been told that was what it would look like if that makes sense lol.
