My understanding tells me people of india did grave mistakes in choosing a leader in the recent past....India has like taken a wrong turn towards communalism and things, from the path it was following all these past 65 years....

These questions should be posed on every newspaper and news channel. And also the procedure & docs required for registering (the criteria of citizenship). What about the detention centres? Are we wannabe Nazi Germany or China?.. Then only people will understand the whole structure.

The whole point in this CAB (citizenship amendment bill) is to take care of the persecuted minorities of Pakistan and Bangladesh and to an extent in Afganistan. At the time of independence Pakistan had about 20%+ minorities and today they have less then 2% minorities, similarly in Bangladesh they now have 7 or 8%, down from about 15%. Ofcourse Pakistan and Bangladesh did not exist in British India and Afganistan was administered by the British from India and it had contiguous border with India and there some Indians in that part of Asia. All three countries mentioned are professed Islamic Republics. These countries (Pakistan and Bangladesh) which were carved out of India have stridently become more intolerant towards their minorities and their minority populations have dwindled substantially and incase of Pakistan decreased to almost negligible numbers. So India would naturally be the place for these minorities to migrate and all this bill is doing is to grant these minorities with Indian citizenship. Now some people have mentioned in various TV debates as why not this bill does not include Myanmar, Srilanka and rest of the world ?. This is very fallacious argument. These countries were never a part of British India. India is the only largest vibrant secular democracy and it will remain so whether somebody agrees or not. Every advanced western democracies have this citizenship process that every individual goes thru inorder to establish their bonafides of a Citizenship. The muslims or sects within Islam who are persecuted in these two countries always have the asylum route to come to India. Some people have mentioned Ahmediya's....well at the time of partition Ahmediyas went enmass to be with Pakistan...so they made their choice. If they still feel insecure in their own adopted country.... then they always have the asylum route to apply and come to India. That is why this bill is a very specific amendment to citizenship law of India. The native muslims of India are not affected by this amendment. If some sects within Islam feel so threatened in these Islamic Republics then its a shame that they cannot tolerate a minority few of their own brethren. So what is the fuss about ?. India and Indians feel very proud about their diversity and its a work in progress to become a more perfect union. Our minority populations are thriving and prospering and they have made immense contributions in science, medicine, industry, space, IT and so on for the development of this country. India is the only country in the world after US where minorities can aspire to become politicians and become ministers, presidents, army chiefs, defense ministers and even prime ministers etc. This does not happen in any Islamic republics in the world. Please also look at Subramaniam Swamy's statement in the Rajya Sabha regarding this bill. He has exposed the Congress party hypocrisy in opposing this bill. They have advocated precisely for the this kind of law in their CWC 1947 or 1948 November meeting law and also ex PM Manmohan Singh Statement on 2012 or 2014. He too advocated granting of citizenship to these religious minorities of these two Islamic Republics. Please let us not get carried away by this stupid rhetoric spouted by Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal who are basically misleading people on the bill.

Since Independence Pakistan was made "ISLAMIC REPUBLIC" but India remained open to all Religions. Minorities in Bangladesh prior 1971 was about 35%+... Pakistan had 20%+ Minorities...
While in India Minority Population has been growing (with Scholarships, loans & Reservation)..... Pakistan & Bangladesh is a hell for Hindus & Sikhs to live... Their population is as low as 2% now.
