- Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal spoke to NDTV on the recently passed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill which aims at giving Indian citizenship to non-Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who entered India before 2015. The Congress will challenge it in the Supreme Court.

Firstly, no, because if they don't have papers, then by definition you can't prove which country they came from. And also, no, this technically can't happen because revoking their citizenship would make them stateless, which is against one of the UN conventions. So unless the government is planning on withdrawing from the UN, this isn't gonna go anywhere. And even if it doesn't withdraw, it's probably gonna be hit with sanctions from the international community. This is merely a chaotic distraction for now, but I dono if it's gonna hold the people over until the next election before the economy goes into a tailspin (by following its current course or due to the prospective sanctions India faces) and the people realize the bullshit that the government has been feeding people.

Don't see anything wrong with the CAA (2019), where else are persecuted minorities from Pak, Af and BD supposed to go? Sure we could expand the minorities definition to other categories like LGBTQ+, Ahymediya, Shias etc. Also the list of countries could be expanded to include ALL south asian countries too. But something is better than nothing. And whether this is connected to result of NRC, whether true or not, is immaterial. We the people of India very well know that which News TV channel s are biased and which are unbiased. So you need not to mention that you are an unbiased News TV channel.
Will the last pillar of demcracy; the judiciary stand tall in this case? The lagislative; the executive; the media have let down the country and the constitution. I don't have much hope; looking at supreme court's stand on Ayodhya, Kashmir, Rafael etc in recent past.
Even if the government identifies say 1 million illegal migrants in India. What can the government do with them deport them back to their country of origin? Will Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh take them back. If not then there will be a crisis to look after them as per international laws. Can India afford to do that in the current economic situation. From internal security perspective what are the consequences?
