    may i suggest something - try heating the oil followed by adding turmeric. Most indian spices are meant to be roasted in oil to release their true flavor. After that you could add the quinoa. Also you may have already figured out turmeric is a tricky spice - add too much and it will have a bitter taste :)
    If you try this, let me know how it goes.

    Just a little tip I use on rice to avoid clumping.
    After the quinoa is done, sprinkle a little cold water to stop further cooking by steam, turn the quinoa around a bit to have it come in contact with this water, cover n remove from the stove. Works well n grains remain fluffier.

      A good tip would be to let the quinoa drain for 30 - 40 mins( up to an hour ) before cooking...just leave it sitting in the sieve over a bowl whilst you get on with prepping other ingredients. I recommend this technique for most grains (especially rice ) to achieve fluffy results.

    Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial! Off topic question, the organic turmeric I use is from Sam's club, Member's Mark brand. Every time I use it I can't wash it off. Like it leaves greenish coloring on my pot and dishes. Does this happen to your turmeric as well? I just wanted to know if this is a Turmeric thing or Member's Mark thing. Thanks.

    You rinsed the quinoa in water but then it looked dry when you were mixing it with the spices in the pan?

    So I’m switching from rice to quinoa . Do you cook it like how you cook rice ? Like two cups of water for one cup?

    "A little bit of garlic if you want to spice it up" lmfao is garlic supposed to be spicy??

    • @excuseme5086
      @excuseme5086 5 років тому +3

      I immediately looked through the comments... but yeah tho, try eating raw garlic there's definitely a lingering feeling of spice. Still, garlic powder doesn't add spiciness when you mix it with stuff.

    0:22-0:34 Why do women always have to go on tangents? Lol. I gotta admit, I'm a horrible cook but tried this recipe step by step and it worked great! Thanks lady!

      That comment is as bias / sexist as saying "why are men so terse". My friend Mark and my friend Walter talk nonstop in tangents. It is how someone's brain is wired.

    very important about black pepper for tumeric, without the pepper it's wasted, as it gets absorbed too quickly and you don't get the nutritional benefits you would when it reaches your lower gut and liver etc, just a quarter teaspoon pepper makes the medicinal qualities of tumeric wonderfully anti-inflammatory..

    This is one easy and amazing quinoa recipe. I also cook the quinoa in the same way but add more veggies to it like green peas, carrots, spinach, and tomatoes and it tastes delicious. I use true elements quinoa and its results are amazing so far. I've been using true elements quinoa for a long time now and I'm very satisfied with its results. What else would you suggest to try with quinoa?

    • @neerajkerkar

      I have the true elements quinoa too. How much water do you use? How long do you have to cook it? I tried to cook as per the instructions in this video but it didn’t come out as fluffy.

      Ive had quinoa flakes before as a hot cereal but didn't really like it. Ive also had just straight cooked quinoa simmered with vanilla nut milk, cinnamon and nuts/dried fruit and it was pretty good. I don't really eat it but Im always up for experimenting.
