Thankyou so much I just made my first quinoa lunch and I'm 15 and work in a barbers/salon and making my lunch for the next day really makes me feel older and more responsible!! Thank you so much!!
may i suggest something - try heating the oil followed by adding turmeric. Most indian spices are meant to be roasted in oil to release their true flavor. After that you could add the quinoa. Also you may have already figured out turmeric is a tricky spice - add too much and it will have a bitter taste :) If you try this, let me know how it goes.
Just a little tip I use on rice to avoid clumping. After the quinoa is done, sprinkle a little cold water to stop further cooking by steam, turn the quinoa around a bit to have it come in contact with this water, cover n remove from the stove. Works well n grains remain fluffier.
This is a perfect tutorial for ppl like me that want to eat more healthy but have never really tried specific things like Quinoa before. I feel more confident now and not like I'm gonna end up wasting my money buying it :) Keep up the good work!
I cook mine in low sodium chicken broth with a touch of honey, onion powder and garlic powder. I usually mix in some peas and carrots. There's so many options.
I use one & a half cups water, half cup coconut milk, low sodium chicken broth Jamaican jerk seasoning, escallon, 3 plummy tomatoes, diced bits of baked chicken, bits of red bell pepper ,1 unbroken scotch bonnet pepper for flavour.. Its YUMMY😅
Hi Nicole, This is Karen from Jamaica. I cooked quinoa for the very first time, following your steps and OMG it came out perfectly!! Thank you so much!!
I just tried your recipe. I used broth instead of water, and my mom didn’t have any chili flakes, other than that, your recipe is the bomb. Very good. I never knew to sauté the quinoa first. Thanks
Thank you. I am a 21 year old male who has no idea how to cook xD and this came out very good. Instead of turmeric (i didn't have any) I used half a cube of chicken broth. The taste was mamma mia! Thank you :)
Thanku so much, I'm now living alone and i have to cook something healthy early in the morning before getting off to work. This is my breakfast from now.
Thank you. I made some quinoa this morning. I just wanted to know how it is done, since I had done it from intuition. Actually, I did the same thing as you did minus the spices. I added raisins, chia seeds, sunflower seeds for extra flavor.

such quick and simple recipe. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and GREAT TIP! the pepper helping to bring out the benefits of the Turmeric!
Perfect timing, I've been wanting to try to make quinoa. Since you mentioned turmeric in one of your older videos and its benefits, I've been adding it to pretty much everything. :) Gives a nice color to your food and so good for you.
The piperine in the black pepper allows better absorption of the curcumin found in Tumeric into the intestinal walls to help fight cancer & inflammation. Adding the additional spices is a nice touch!
A good tip would be to let the quinoa drain for 30 - 40 mins( up to an hour ) before cooking...just leave it sitting in the sieve over a bowl whilst you get on with prepping other ingredients. I recommend this technique for most grains (especially rice ) to achieve fluffy results.
Okay you rinsed your quinoa in a strainer, then used dry quinoa in a bowl for the toasting. What about toasting the wet, rinsed quinoa? How is that gonna work out?
Lee Dubya I showed washing the quinoa because not all quinoa you buy is pre washed. The one I was using was so it was already dried. You can still toast your rinsed quinoa or let it dry out.
@@123mus123 Is this a first cooking video you watched? Of course they're going to show all the steps leading to the finished dish, in this case, Quinoa. Take your head out your butt hole.
Toasting the quinoa by stirring in pan before adding liquid enhances the flavor and burns off the bitter coating. Rinsing is important first step even if pre-washed. Letting it sit makes it fluffy and avoids mushiness. Healthier than rice
So when you washed your car a year ago, is it still wet? How about when it rained, is the sidewalk still wet? How is this confusing? How does your brain remember to breathe?
I will somtimes sprout my quinoa and make raw tabbouleh with it but I havent soaked it to cook it right after. Quinoa is techically a "seed" and soaking your seeds/nuts helps make them more digrestable and higher in protein so it could work.
Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial! Off topic question, the organic turmeric I use is from Sam's club, Member's Mark brand. Every time I use it I can't wash it off. Like it leaves greenish coloring on my pot and dishes. Does this happen to your turmeric as well? I just wanted to know if this is a Turmeric thing or Member's Mark thing. Thanks.
I immediately looked through the comments... but yeah tho, try eating raw garlic there's definitely a lingering feeling of spice. Still, garlic powder doesn't add spiciness when you mix it with stuff.
These comments are filled with people who didn't read the description 😂 Thanks for the video! I'm definitely going to try this out it looks really good

very important about black pepper for tumeric, without the pepper it's wasted, as it gets absorbed too quickly and you don't get the nutritional benefits you would when it reaches your lower gut and liver etc, just a quarter teaspoon pepper makes the medicinal qualities of tumeric wonderfully anti-inflammatory..
This is one easy and amazing quinoa recipe. I also cook the quinoa in the same way but add more veggies to it like green peas, carrots, spinach, and tomatoes and it tastes delicious. I use true elements quinoa and its results are amazing so far. I've been using true elements quinoa for a long time now and I'm very satisfied with its results. I cook mine in low sodium chicken broth with a touch of honey, onion powder and garlic powder. I usually mix in some peas and carrots. There's so many options.
Yummy!! I love mine with garlic too

Added homegrown spinach, peppers, tomatoes and onions. Amazing recipe! 😍🥰
I substituted Qi’a for rice and made a broccoli cheese casserole. I left off cream of mushroom soup .
I guess I’ll try fresh mushrooms next time 👍🏽

Kontour Keitt should say on bag. Unless you want this persons exact way of doing this.
I hate when people dont pay attention to the video. she stated all measurements are in the description lol quinoa is 1 part qunioa and 2 part water

the most important part about cooking it is the water ratio because that is where people mess up & have it finishing up looking like porridge
