@@SJ_Strum I literally made up my second daughter's name and it's impossible to find online so I was curious how you would research for that video. You ALWAYS have the best ideas!
Love this list! I’d love for you to make a video in the future about element themed baby names (earth, wind, fire, water)! I have an Aidan (little fire), and a Maxwell (little water) and I’m looking for inspiration for baby # 3!
i wouldn’t recommend using the initials OJ in the US as it definitely makes us think of a certain individual you might not want your baby associated with 😂
I’ve been thinking about this! I love the names Oliver and Oakley and there are so many great J middle names. But this thought was bothering me about OJ... so it’s good to know I’m not the only one! 😂
I am from the southern United States and double barrel names are insanely popular, or at least we're in previous generations. My great grandmother was Mary Etta, my grandma was Ethel Mae, her daughter (my aunt) was Rose Marie, and my cousins are Ruby Belle and Bobbi Jo. So many fun combos!
My sister just had her baby girl & named her MILLIE JAMES 🤍 My grandma’s name is Mildred & goes by Millie & my father is James! She goes by MJ! Millie is getting very popular in the U.S. but the combination is very unique & cute. Double-barrel names are big in the southern US! I have a Lucy Sue & a Dixie May (my dog!) Thanks for a fun video, SJ!
Rosie Verdini Millie Violet awww what a sweet name too! They were considering also doing Juliet as a middle name, & changed it, but how pretty is Millie James Juliet?!
I love Jane Austen so, so much, so I think it’d be cool to flip it and name my daughter Austen-Jane and call her AJ. Now I just need to talk my partner into it 😊
I’ve always thought Briar -Blue is adorable!! But my dads name is Zane which I think works as a similar one to James. So my favourite names I see how they go with his name as a middle. But Florian Zane sounds so handsome to me!
I always like the name Melissa but it became popular real fast that it's not heard that much anymore. My girls are named Autumn Rose and Ashlee Margaret. Sometimes we use Ashlee Margaret as a double barrel.
Love all of these! I've always thought Rae is perfect for a second spot, Josie-Rae is my favorite! Thanks for always brightening my Monday SJ❤️ And I'd love to see a Hawaiian name list!
Fun fact! In my country a baby's "middle name" is always their father's name, so siblings, regardless of their gender, share the same (usually masculine) middle name. For example, my brother, sister and I have the same middle name: Armen, which is our father's name.
My friend's family does that, but only for the first born son. So his father's name is Robert, so he is David Robert and his first son is Micah David. Also, I have my mothers middle name, and my son has his father's middle name.
I LOVE double barrel names, thank you for the video!!! I have had double names picked out for my future kids for years!!! Everything is better in twos!
I’m due December with my first baby 👶🏻 We are going with Freya for her first name but I’m so torn between two middle spot names and they were both in this video! Joy was my mother’s middle name who passed away coming up to three years ago and I also love Wren due to the nature/winter link and just think it sounds like a little fairy name! Freya Wren🧚♀️ or Freya Joy 💛 both go with her surname 😫 naming a human is tough business 😂xx
I love the sound of both! I think naming her Freya Joy would be really special. This year, I gave birth to twin girls and I wasn’t solid on one twin’s name, but when I met her and got to know her, I knew what fit best. Congratulations and good luck 💕
I'd love to see a "holiday-inspired" list thinking about traditional holidays or special things about each month. Like if your little one was unexpectedly born on a holiday how you could honour that! Like Noël for a Christmas baby for example. We're due on Valentine's Day and looking for a way to maybe incorporate that! PS. Our girl is "AJ" short for Annabella-June ❤
I’m pregnant with my first and plan on actually using a more popular name in the middle spot. There are a lot of names I like but wouldn’t use as the first name because they are too popular. Putting those names in the middle spot could still allow me to use a popular name without having it as the first name :)
I had a baby girl this past April. Her name is Cecily Joy, Joy for my mom whose name is Joyce. We get so many compliments on joy as a middle name, and it helped make her more unusual first name more grounded
My daughters names (Ive got four 😅) are: Skyla Ella-Noura Rose Jelena Aponi Lily Gabriela Aracelli Daisy Layla Grace Jasmine It may sound a little wild but i wanted all my girls names to end in a, and i also wanted them to have something else in common so i came up with them all having flour themed second middles names, i love their names so much :) (Also i just wanna add, “Aponi” means butterfly thats why i chose it 🤍🦋)
I have a double-barreled name: Mary Catherine. If I have a son he will be Oliver Bright, after a family member named Benjamin Bright -- another name I love!
My aunt is Sarah Jane but Jane is her middle name and she goes by Janie. My niece is Adela Rose. I have several family members with double names (first & middle) Beth Ann-Marie, Brooke'Lynn Jade, Misty Lee Ann, Anne Drew Hope, MaryLynn Marie, Landon-Lane Frost, Jamie-Lynn Marie, Russell Jerrell Loren (RJ) & Cinnamon DayLee (also we have Hattie Belle, Ora Bell, Bennie Lee (girl), Mary Angeline, Mary Geneva, Mary Georgiann, Catherine May Wilma & Johnnie Mae
If you give someone a double barrelled name, do you think they should be known by it? My niece is Lyla-Rose but she’s only ever known as Lyla. So it seems pointless? I like double barrelled names and love using them as a full name. What does everyone else do?
Hola!!! I'm Spanish and married to an English man and I love love love the idea of double-barrel names... hence my children are Ian-James and Emma-Rose, both with the most popular second name! Love your videos!!! Besos from Barcelona!
I'm currently in the process of choosing my own middle name and it's such fun but also wow it can be tricky. I feel like finding one name that goes with your surname is relatively easy but you then have to find something that fits with both the first and surname so this video was super helpful. I love Alethea and Layne!
@Priya S my proudest moment (and was accidental completely) was one day at work in obstetrics the first c-section named her baby Amelia and then the 2nd section of the day named her baby Grace!! It made me smile so much! (Even if it wasn’t deliberate) xx
Aw, this so interesting! I like the modern approach you took with it, but I’ve also always loved the traditional French double barrel names, like Henri-luc, Jean- Christophe, or Jacque-Michel. They’re so classy, I think.
My little girl is called Clara Beaux ♥️ Got the name Clara from your historical women through history list and fell in love with it immediately and now have bay no2 on way and love lots and lots of out there names so I shall update when he/she is here x
I love the name Aurora-Rose Garnet and Marilla-Zinnia Violet so gorgeous I can't. For boys Michael-John Blu and Leonardo-James Emerald. I love barrel names and middle names that are colorful. It adds a unique and modern flair. I love them it's perfect!
We have a “Evelyn Honey” just as a standard middle name, but think “Honey” could work really well as a double barrel too! Baby #2 due next March so even more addicted to your name videos than usual. My husband is very vanilla on the name front though unfortunately 😂
My middle name is Eleanor. My friend has a little theory that a lot of people have “old lady” middle names, because in our friend group we have Eleanor, Ann, Rosie, Margaret... Her grandmas are called Eleanor and Ann so I suppose her theory might have something to it. My sister is called May, because my parents wanted to use it as a middle name but they couldn’t think of a first name so they just used May as her first name.
Friends have a Joy-Taylor, a Naomi-Raye, a Payton-Faye (Naomi & Payton are twins), and an Aliza-Zames. It’s a very southern thing in the US to do the double/ hyphenated name.
Loved this! We did something like this with our daughter, choosing a classic name with a more masculine sounding middle. Her name is Isabel Andie Andie is after my sister Andrea. So it was a cool way to connect them with a twist;)
Double barrelled names were so unique when I was growing up, I rarely came across them. I remember a girl at my school had a double barrelled name and her name was Levi-jazz. I think with a name like that it automatically put her in the cool girl list!
The first thing I thought of to go with Olivia was Olivia-Jade...and then you went into colors right after! Also, you mentioned going more traditional with first and less traditional with middle. We did the opposite with my daughter, Samara Grace
Rae and Raye are really popular 2nd names in my area right now. My youngest is called Leanna-Raye. My hubby calls her L-Raye as a nickname, I pretend to hate it but secretly love it L-Raye
I’m due in December with my first daughter! She’s my rainbow 🌈 I have a son named Kaius. My husband wants something Norwegian or the name Katherine or Liv. I like softer whimsical names like Alora or Arwen. Any suggestions for a compromise??
Absolutely love this list!💕 Love playing around with different sets of names! Currently my favorites are: Reese-Wren Peigi-Anne Rory-Jo (Lorelai-Jo) Jonah-Jesse Drew-Finch Reed-Wilbur Philip-Shepard (P.S) What do you guys think of the combos? 😊
some double barrelled names i love are: ember-elliott lennon-layne elodie-valley (nickname could be evie) navy-tate luca-wren frankie-scout sailor-raine
I LOVE the following names: Accasia Marie Luka Finn Ellis Audley (yes, oddly but I LOVE the spelling) Sebastian Gray My name is Kayra (like Kayla but with an r) I want to name my first son Milo Dean Martin (my partners last name) it just sounds very classic!
I love the name Sullivan for a girl! i think its so unique and different! also some double barrel names that i love are: Dove Carter, Ivy Rae, Juliette James, Candice Brooks, Hazel Kingston.
You’re the best! I’ve been watching your videos for a long time but now I am actually naming a baby girl so I’m binging them again! Hahah I need some opinions... we have chosen a first name: Flora, but we’re having trouble deciding on a middle name. We both really like Flora Monet Cobb, I’m just worried it’s too out there.. this video also made me think Flora Blake Cobb or Flora Rae Cobb could be nice! I definitely want something a little more masculine since Flora is so feminine! Let me know your thoughts or if anyone has any other middle name ideas!! :)
My middle name is “Louisa” (Lou-eye-zuh) and I love it! I am the 4th generation person in my family with it and hope to pass it onto a daughter some day!
I feel like middle names are perfect for choosing those names that you think are a little too out-there for a first name but you still love. My boys have two middle names. I've got a Connor Steven Västrik and Blair Orion Fox and I adore their names.
In America (specifically the south) double names are very popular, some with or without the hyphen. One thing I hear a lot is very (almost overly) common boys names being combined with either a girl's name or another boy's name to turn it into a girl's name. Names like Bobby-Jo, Emmy-Lou, Betty-Lou. We also like to use surnames as the second half of a double name, like Sarah-Gordon. Lots of double names for boys that really sound like a first and last name, rather than just a first name.
My daughters full name is Autumn Gallagher Desirée and I adore the name Gallagher as a middle name. Obviously I’m a huge oasis fan so that’s played a part in it! I’m hoping for a son next so I can name him Lennon and I would love to see a celebrity surname baby name video! Xx
I was looking for names for my Sims and found your channel, I'm loving it! In Brazil we don't really have middle names, but a lot of people use double-barrel names without the hyphen. The most common names are João (which could be translated for John), and Maria e Ana for girls. In my family we have a John (João) Victor, John Arthur and a John Pedro (but there are many other combinations). And for girls we have Maria Victoria, Maria Julia, Ana Clara...
Hey love baby names Can you do rare, beautiful and feminine names that also work in Scandinacia? Like especially Norway and Sweden. There’s so many English names I like as for example: Amelia, Eloise, Rosalynn, Rosealie, Amelio, Ophelia, Daisy and so on. But you know it doesn’t really work in Norway because it sounds weird with scandinavian accent. So do u know any names that works well here? But is also rare
We chose Luna Mifune for our girl, I absolutely love it! I'm danish, so I don't really know how it would be pronounced in english. Other names for potential other babies i have on my list is Vildis My, Roar Bjørn (my fathers name is Bjørn) or Falke Bjørn. Love those names!
I had a dream once that i had a daughter and called her Summer. I made her middle name Phoenix. But i love it as a double barrelled name. So i love Summer-Phoenix.
One of my friends is called Julie-Anne, and I knew a girl at school named Phoebe-Rae. I've always liked their names. I thought of Olivia-Rae and Olivia-Doe as cool double barrel names (Doe like a female deer!)
Please can someone comment on if you like the name Posy/Posie? I have loved the name since a little girl and reading the book Ballet Shoes but husband hates it! Anyone think it works well for a middle name e.g. Sylvie Posy? Wonder if it's too many "ee" sounds?
I just had my baby girl two weeks ago and she’s called Stevie Lou (her dads middle name is Louis -pronounced like Lewis)💗
Oh wow!! Huge congrats and I love that combination!!! Xxxxx
Omg I loooove her name!!!
I absolutely love that!
Adorable Stevie is Literally my favorite girl name
Oh, that is SO cute!!
My husband suggests a "Bad guys, good names" list. Like villains from books/movies/shows with cool names!
I would love to see that too.
Yes!!! That would be awesome!
For women as well!! I adore the name Ursula even though it is the name of a Disney villain
I believe shes done this or something very similar
Sj you should do decades like popular names from each decade to see
I would love this
Yes lots are quite similar! But it’s so interesting to see the fashions change x

We have a Luna Rae, our little "moon beam" which really matches her wild toddler personality! Love your outfit in this video SJ, you look so pretty!
I had my little boy in April and we called him Erik Orion, our little Viking star-gazer. We love it!
SJ, you should do bilingual names! Names that sound good in English and another language while keeping the same spelling.
For the next list how about unranked baby names
How would you even go about that? Curious
The Stripper Life Of Piper good question have no idea. Other option is animal baby names

My youngest is called
Leanna-Raye. My hubby calls her
L-Raye as a nickname, I pretend to hate it but secretly love it
L-Raye
My best friend growing up was named Molly Marie, always loved her name and thought it suited her so well!
Harry Styles inspired baby name list:
Kiara-Willa (Kiwi)
Fallon (Falling)
Angie (Only Angel)
Esny (Ever Since New York)
Cherry
Sunny (Sunflower Vol. 6)
Aurelia (means Golden)
Adora (Adore You)
Myth (mmith)
Carolina
Fione-Linnea (Fine Line)
Moon (Canyon Moon)
Lux (means light) (Lights Up)
Shea (She)
Toby (To Be So Lonely)
Anna
Names ending in ie or y are perfect for double barrel names! Like Benny-Lou , Jamie-Jax, Freddie-Augustus, Frankie-Tina, Lennie-Claire. So sweet
Your friend just had a Mable Joy! My sweet grandmother who just passed in January was named Mable Joy and she went by Joy! Joy is my middle name too!
Ah how special to keep the name going - it's such a gorgeous one as well xxx
I love Robin as a second name, like Christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh! I think Olivia Robin works particularly well.
I love Ava-Layne, I think it rolls off the tongue so nicely. And seeing as Ava is so getting so popular it's a nice twist on it. xxx
I’m due in December with my first daughter! She’s my rainbow 🌈 I have a son named Kaius. My husband wants something Norwegian or the name Katherine or Liv.
I like softer whimsical names like Alora or Arwen. Any suggestions for a compromise??
I have SO many students with the middle name Rae. It’s definitely becoming the new Rose around here.

Flora monet is beautiful
My middle name is “Louisa” (Lou-eye-zuh) and I love it! I am the 4th generation person in my family with it and hope to pass it onto a daughter some day!
We had Juniper Joyce on our short list of our baby had been a girl, and I loved the possibility of JJ.
Love the name Grey as a middle spot😍 Thinking Rafferty Grey for a boy or even Grey as a first name for a girl 🤍🤍
My favorite at the moment is Malina Bloom :) I think Bloom in the middle spot could work for loads of names x
I know someone who did Ava-Lee for her daughter.
P.S. my 8 yr old says you have really pretty hair 😄
Ahhhh how cute! My sisters middle name is Leigh as she married a Lee!
For Olivia I thought of Olivia-Raine as like a variation on Rose/ Jane? And for some reason Olivia Blythe popped into my head as quite lovely :)
My sweet baby girl was born this past week inspired by your videos- Reverie Elwyn
Hey love baby names
Can you do rare, beautiful and feminine names that also work in Scandinacia?
Love your work SJ! My kids names are Iris Rose and Leopold Jasper. I'm due end of October with my third who I plan to call Vienna Idalia.
Im in love with Diana-Bless 💕
One of my friends is called Julie-Anne, and I knew a girl at school named Phoebe-Rae. I've always liked their names.
I thought of Olivia-Rae and Olivia-Doe as cool double barrel names (Doe like a female deer!)
Please can someone comment on if you like the name Posy/Posie? I have loved the name since a little girl and reading the book Ballet Shoes but husband hates it! Anyone think it works well for a middle name e.g. Sylvie Posy? Wonder if it's too many "ee" sounds?
I think Primrose with the nickname Posie works really well! So Primrose Sylvia or Sylvia Primrose and then you could just choose between the names
@@elinesa thank you! Yes I hadn't considered primrose but could work really well
