When I hear this, I thank the lord that we live in a world with guitars! I have the highest respect for anyone who can play this beautiful instrument. The sound of any type of guitar is one of the greatest, most rewarding, miraculous wonders of this Earth.
I think we should thank T-Bone Walker since he was one of the first or the first to common use electric guitar and popularize it, experiment on it profesionally. Electric guitar was a new invention and it was just a curiosity at first. Probably without him, we wouldn't have blues and jazz on electric guitars in the form we all know and love and as we all know blues nad jazz influenced almost every kind of guitar music. People who also took electric guitar because of him: BB King, Chuck Berry, SRV. Playing with teeth, playing behind your head, blues solos as we know it, all T-Bone Walker ideas. He literally changed the guitar music forever. The name worth remembering since I barely hear guitar enthusiasts talking about him. Greetings
But listeners of guitars also have to have the sense of beauty to appreciate this celestial art appropriately. We add to this greatness a little drop as well!
15 or 20 yrs. ago I heard this song for the first time. It was so so elegant and melodic it didn't need words. I had to find out who this was. Finally the guy on the radio said it was Joe Satriani. I had never heard of him but I HAD to listen to more of his stuff. Soon I heard Surfing With The Alien and I was hooked. Also really dig the G3 thing he does almost every year. Joe is a real humble cat and has a great sense of humor besides being completely down to earth. What an incredible talent....
+Thundergod129 Not your fault. I asked a family friend of mine, he said that Satch wasn't too famous like Van Halen, Slash etc... in the 80's. He said he just heard of Satriani just a few years back. I think he needed someone to help make him famous. Just like how Ozzy helped Randy Rhoads become famous.
+Oliver Oliver What I don't get is why Chickenfoot isn't very good. I mean Satch, Sammy, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith are a Supergroup with all of them either in the RRHOF or destined to be....
+pinkfloydfan They're OK though it's musical taste I guess. They don't seem to be all in because of other projects they do. Maybe later they can focus and hopefully there will be some chemistry. Maybe Chicken Foot 4 will happen soon and it will be excellent....
yoohoo just learnt the entire song properly. Ive been dreaming of learning it properly since a kid and when i finally played it from start to end without mistakes, i literally started crying. tears of joy of course, mind you, i ripped a stink 1 right at the end so that could've partly explained the tears. But nevertheless im stoked :)
Oliver Oliver Awesome dude, keep it up. persistence is the key, i got lazy and put it off for a while but was determined so i learnt it. Just keep at it, even if you get bored of it, carry on practicing, it pays off. :)
Yes. Although I think he uses some advanced techniques here. I should do some tapping, and legato but like a beginner version of it before I even touch Satriani's material. :)
i have never heard better performance actualy it feels like the guitar is talking and expressing emotions this is the top of all gutar playing that a man can achieve is to express emotions through playing an instrument
This song always makes me think of a delicious meal at an expensive restaurant. It has all of these tasty bits and underlying flavors layered together so perfectly in satisfies you so completely.
I remember when I first heard this on the radio back then I was a young lad and as usual they (radio) won't tell you who's the artist so I ended up looking for it at the tape shops spending my week's pay for a year. At one point I had the attendant ripped all the guitar music tapes and still couldn't find it. This is the most elegant piece of music ever created in my mind even after hearing it for a thousand times.
Thank you soooooooo much Joe. I have searched for hours trying to find this song. ( I remembered it to be called Waves for some reason hence could never find it ) I heard this on the radio on 2DAY FM when I was only 13 years old, I'm now 46 later this year, and listening to this again brought tears to my eyes. Why ? Because it took me back to that time, a happier time before the stresses of life, before a mortgage and before all those adult responsibilities that we face as adults. A time before my beautiful mother was diagnosed with the heavy onset of Alzheimers and needing to move into a nursing home. For the entire duration of this track, I was free to be that kid again. Music is not just the recording of an instrument being played, well not when it's played like this anyway. It has to have soul It has to have meaning It should move you It should hit a nerve in your body that makes you jump to attention yet sooth at the same time It should bring back memories of when you first heard that song It has to grab you by the heart and drag you through hell and bring you out on the other side I hope I keep my manly respect when I say this but it brought watery stuff to my eyes. Brilliant mate - just brilliant !!!!!!! So thank you so so very much, SINCERELY THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart mate. Don't ever stop doing what you're doing. Cheers
Those subtle arpeggios that seem to deliver on throughout, with the screaming, epic guitar on top make this song so amazing *AND* make me smile *every* time. Freaking love this song.
I love the new key. It's really cool and exciting when guitarist's play certain songs or pieces in different keys or tune down their guitars. It provides a much different mood and set of tones that are unique to that tuning or key. Amazing music, and mind blowing feel.
Nikolaj Haun Hansen it was only up until a year or two ago when I realized how old Satriani is. didn't realize he's almost 60. in some of his video's from a few years ago, he seems a lot younger. like mid 40's early 50's.
I'd never heard of Joe before then one day in my room I was listening to the rock show on the radio and they played his new song flying in a blue dream and I was instantly blowing away then I became a huge fan ever since when I heard this track I cried for ages with goosebumps all over it's a beautiful track wish I could have been able to play like that what a guy my no1 guitarist evet
20 years of listening and watching you do music Joe since I was age 10, and you still Amaze Me. Thank You! What would the Guitar-World be without you....???
hi this is my favorite song and i’m crying listening to this . like. number one song. never has been skipped and has been replayed an unhealthy amount of times
This video is so clean and Joe Satriani as always plays so flawlessly, and with these great camera angles, it’s a guitar lesson in itself for any guitarist who wants to learn this song. I can’t wait to use this as a reference while learning it, especially the more complex parts. Such a perfect performance by Satch, the guitar god.
Joe Satriani is quite the Mr. Clean of guitar realm: that strong bald guy who is so much into cleanness guys, I've got the feeling that this stupid statement has already been made, right? Sometimes, I dream about cheese
I will always say this is one of the greatest songs he’s ever done. Just beautiful song and I love the tone and I think he is one of best guitarist I have ever seen and heard.

One of my very favorite Satriani tunes! It's so good it almost brings tears to my eyes..since it makes me think about a girl I had a crush on for a long time...and possibly could have been my wife but she died... :(

With enough practice, a shit ton of dedication, and a heaping dash of soul...you could also.

I convinced my wife to have this as our wedding song and now she loves it as much as I do!
Can your wife help my wife see the light and get her into Led Zeppelin?
Same 30 years ago.
greatest piece of music I've ever heard.don't need lyrics when music sounds this good.
Joe is the best guitarrist out there in my opnion...
He has technique and has feeling too, both very well balanced!
I know God smile when you first played this song it is so beautiful
I think the same thing about Trinity-Santana
The very first Satriani song that I heard 15 years ago. Instantly brought me to tears. This was a masterpiece. Still is today!

i'm surprised satch's arm hair hasn't burned off after years of shredding.
Slit Wrist That's actually shadow and burns from all those flames over the years

What makes Joe a guitar god is his ability and creativity, and his is at a level like no one else, Joe will remain the greatest player ever.

This is the greatest love song without words ever written.
Dude's so good it gives you chills
As I've said once before.
I call this the "Wordless Love Song."
A Magician and His Magic Axe making Love to all hearing
That half-step down thing sounds pretty good in Always with me :)
I was thinking the same thing!! Almost makes it sound like a different song even though its not :)
Exactly
Absolutely spot on, he is a guitar legend, beautifully played.
Joe Satriani is Master the Guitar.
tosin my ass
This song keeps playing on my head over and over again. I love it.
Love this , touches my soul...

Joe Satriani is the best composer ! :)
Check out guthrie govan
Who can witness that and dislike it?!?!
As soulful as it gets. This song rebalances me in times of stress.
The Best guitarist of all time. Simple as that.
I simply adore this piece of music. Joe plays with very great feeling, and I listen to it regularly - I need to.
Sounds like he's playing it a half step down from the original.
You are correct.
@@brentcrude8565 what does this mean
@@skydragon3857 it means that the guitar's tuning is a little lower from whatever it was when he recorded the song originally
@@electricskaterdude it is better for the bends especially if nobody sings
@@phenixreturns definitely true, adds a little slack to the strings🤘
I felt Satch warmed up a lot through this, felt almost 'nervous' at the start then very relaxed and natural later on. Mind blowing song writing.
the man himself who taught Kirk Hammet everything he knows.
+john johnson Pretty sure Kirk did some work on his own. But yes, Kirk got lessons, and so did Steve Vai.

+Nikolaj Haun Hansen And Alex Skolnick from Testament was a Satriani student( Way better than Kirk Wahwhamett)
+Svil Buscus i think he said that kirk was the stupidest student he had (i think)
Who turned out badly. I mean, look at his other student (Vai). I still prefer Kirk over Steve though.

I always doubted about God's existance. But now I know he exists. It's Joe Satriani
Joe Satriani is a great craftsman and sensational guitarist of Italian heritage...
Are you mad? Guys like Hendrix existed and hat boys making elevator wait music

i've cried to this song over my first love for the past 8 months.
This is one of the most sentimental songs along with "I Believe".
Absolutely Beautiful. This gives me goosebumps watching this.
Its been years since I have watched Satch play. I got turned on to him in early 2000 I now realize again why I like him so much. For all his chops its his understanding of melody and moving the songs along like a story.

I don't know how old this video is but Joe you still got it, I'd go see you if your ever playing in St Louis Missouri anytime in the future.
One of the first songs I learned to play by Joe. I would sit in my room and play it over and over again.
