This guy looks like he's always just woken up in the middle of the night by a fire alarm going off when he just returned home from a great booze..
Met Sean Penn briefly at a party in Malibu many years ago. He was very nice, quiet and charming.
How many years ago? Long enough ago that Madonna was with him?
Cool.He is a good fella me thinks
The 'movie'.. was "Taps". Wonder why he omitted it?
Sean Penn looks like a half lit cigarette.
I met John Beluschi AND Dan Aykroyd before they became famous. It was around mid-October to early November 1975, when I was a student at NYU. I was shopping for stereo gear at a place called Crazy Eddie's, located at the corner of 6th Avenue and 8th Street in Greenwich Village. I was at the front of the store when John and Dan walked in and began to look at equipment. Saturday Night Live had just begun and I immediately recognized them, though I didn't yet know their names. There were others in the store, but nobody seemed to know who they were. For some reason, I locked eyes with John and Dan, probably because I was staring at them trying to remember their names from the show, which had only aired for one or two Saturday nights at that time. John started giving me that eyebrow twist that he later became famous for. I broke out laughing and approached them. I said that I loved the show and told them how funny I thought they were. They smiled, thanked me, and seemed to appreciate that they were recognized.
That's a good story. Thank you for sharing. The prices were crAaaazzzyy.
Great story 1975 in New York City what a time to be alive that's when New York was the center of the universe, Electric🔥🔥 Crazy Eddie where the prices are insane!!🤣
Miss those ads. Got totally ripped off by that store though and was just a kid.
He's wrong that John died many years later. The story would've taken place in 1981 (Taps) and Belushi died the next year.
Sean Penn always looks like he’s just been awakened from a hungover nap!
Sean and Tom were once best buddies. Then Tom found Scientology and Sean a girl named Madonna.
Sean Penn looks like a Marlboro just smoked him.
I guess nobody was interested in hearing about the time Sean met Jim Belushi, me either.
Watched colors last night again (for the 50th time). Sean was so good in that movie and Robert Duvall's death scene was best acting ever.
“Just gotta... catch my breath...”
Sean's first word to Belushi was undoubtedly "Duuuuuuuuuuuude."
Taps was a great film!
"Don't piss off the Major."
Hell ya!!
That's one of those movies I keep planning to watch every year but......
Heard a funny story about Belushi in a Joe Walsh interview. They went to a high-end steakhouse (Mortons?) in downtown Chicago. Refused admittance because of dress code (both wearing jeans). Belushi got an idea, they went to a hardware store, bought black spray paint, and ended up spray-painting their jeans (denim) black. Went back to steakhouse and were admitted. Joe Walsh noticed when they got up to leave after their meal that there was an imprint of the seat of his pants left on the chair from the not quite dried spray paint. So I guess you could say they beat the dress code and left an "impression". Two wild and crazy guys !!
Sean Penn's first leading role was two years after Taps in the movie Bad Boys. Great movie by the way. It was Clancy Brown's first movie. Clancy played the crooked guard in Shawshank Redemption, and the villain in Highlander.
yeah well.... There can be only one!
You don't think of Taps as his first film? His was the only face on the poster as I recall and its his pov that carries us through the movie.
Best scene was the sodas in the pillow case
Clancy is also the voice of Mr Krabs...
He was good in Star Trek as well
yeah, that's great...whatever
Sean is really living his character on his face these days
Unfortunately now all’s I can think about is the video I saw last week of Howard Stern saying the N-word like 11 or 12 times and in an extremely rude way and in black face to top it off. But I guess he gets a pass I don’t get it 🤔
Sean helped save people in Nola after Katrina, while the government did nothing Thank you for your companion. You saved many people stuck with no help. My family will always love you
Sean Penn has thousands of good stories, and 99% of them, he can't tell in public.
2 kids in hollywood meeting a legend. Now those 2 kids have historic acting careers.
and one is ridding our galaxy of thetans
Pre- Scientology Tom Cruise hung out with Sean Penn. I finally get, 🤯 mind. blown.
Why
Taps came out 12-25-81 John Died March 5 -82......"" John dies many years later ??? OK Sean ............
I feel like they must have been filming TAPS? The film about students taking over a military school...
How come Sean Penn didn't just say the name of the film? I saw an interview with Tom Cruise and he too was talking about the film without mentioning the name of it. It's almost as if they were told not to tell people what film this is for fear that people would seek it out. Perhaps the men behind the curtain don't like what the film represents...
@@sevensolaris Good observation
If you're a fan of Sean Penn and you haven't seen Sweet & Lowdown and The Assassination of Richard Nixon, I implore you to get after them at once. Great flicks and under-seen in my opinion. Two of his best.
My Belushi story: I went to school at the U of Oregon, early 1970's. "Animal House" the movie was being filmed on campus, and as a staff photographer for the student newspaper, I was assigned to cover it for three days. In the food fight scene (which they had to do w/ multiple takes), Belushi is taking a break, sees me, comes over and says "Me WANT gum!". Because I was chewing a big wad of bubble gum. I start to fish thru my pockets for the fresh gum, he squeezes my mouth open, says "Gum!"....and takes the gum out of my mouth and sticks it in his own. We're within two feet of each other. Very memorable.
Tops!
TOM CRUISE = LEGEND
OMG!
is that Father Guido Sarducci?
asked no one ever.
Maybe they were so high they forgot.
His peak was Fast Times then downhill from there.
Sean is obviously having a bad hair day.
I think everybody has a John Belushi story. In the very early 80s me and a friend went to see Joan Jett at the Palladium in New York City. We ate a couple of Quaaludes and the band went on we passed out. When the show is about to be over we woke up and try to get backstage. In the alleyway in back of the Palladium we see a limousine pull upIt’s John Belushi with a bevy of playboy playmates. To make a long story short we didn’t get backstage but we did see John Belushi.Good night
Excellent. My story: Same venue -- Palladium NYC -- but it was the Blues Brothers concert on 07/01/80 with Belushi, Aykroyd & Co. on stage. My "Quaaludes" that night was tequila. And way too much of it. The audience was filled with Saturday Night Live cast members. Great show.
This meeting would have occurred late 81 or early 82. Belushi died early 82.
I really like Sean Penn♡ Cruise um' Not!
My favorite John Belushi character was on Saturday night live, playing the bus waiter in the restaurant “ cheeseburger, cheeseburger, coke, coke, chip, chip ! “ R.I.P the great John Belushi always....🙏🏻
"No Coke, Pepsi!"
it was pepsi pepsi
Everyone knows where The Chateau Mormont is in L.A. truly.
A catcher's mitt called Sean Penns face and wants its leather back
Cool story indeed!
Simple story, yet brilliant. I mean, he was standing next to Tom Cruise!
Tom Cruise was standing next to Sean Penn is the way I look at it
So?
I love stories like this
That must have been right before his death...Belushi and Novello were writing "Noble Rot," which never got made, at the Chateau in early 1982.
yeah, i googled it after hearing him say "many years later"... Taps came out in '81 and Belushi died in '82...
thanks tmz '82!
William Shaw, that's what I was thinking, I read Wired as well, but Penn said it was several years later.. Wtf? It had to be 82..
He said it was a few years before his death
And the film that PENN and CRUISE made together had recently been released. A wonderfully cast military-school drama called TAPS starring TIMOTHY HUTTON who had just won an Oscar in 1981. It had to be early 1982.
I've had a few mornings looking like him...
John Belushi was a legion in our minds, funny but not so , drugs kill . Think about it.
that is just the best story ...hahahaha
I wouldn't say the best..
I call bullshit on that story. I don't believe it.
Sean Penn is a class act
If they shot "Taps" in 80 or 81 , was released in 81 I believe? then Belushi died a year or two after that meeting.
I know why he did that. He was messing with you because they were probably listening to West LA Fade Away by the Dead, written about him. There’s a line in the song, I'm looking for a chateau, twenty one rooms but one will do. That’s why, not because you’re Sean Penn.
#seanpenn
Was it really?
I have a little hard time believing that Penn, the young, aspiring, yet to break-out actor would reply to Belushi, "You know where the Chateau Marmont is."
0:13 Back then Sean was way better looking than Tom. Time hasn't been so kind to him though.
Still....
Belushi’s are the Albanian legends
One of the great HOLLYWOOD stories.
Good not great. Heard a lot better.
I always get the feeling with Penn that he puts little time into thinking about what he is talking about. This story would have been probably during 1980 or 1981 when they both started in Taps. Belushi died in 1982 so how is that many years later? It’s as if he does not want to put himself out there at all.
Sean Penn is a legend of his time
Has never done a bad movie
🤣
Does Sean Penn look like Jerry Stiller as a tribute?
I am friendly with the actor who played the Assman on Seinfeld. He gave me a tour of that area, showed me the bar where he said he saw John on his last night.
My parents had a 13" black and white tv in the kitchen we would watch when we ate dinner (my parents were cool) and I remember us seeing on the nightly news that Belushi had died. I was young but I knew who Belushi was.
Hard not to know who he was if you were alive back then. Guy was dominating TV, Movie and Music at the time.
Pull my other leg it plays Jingle Bells.
Good story. Sean Penn is a very good actor.
Taps was a great movie!
I GOTTA BAD FEELING
Kick ass story!
Don Novello wrote a hilarious book in 1977 entitled The Lazlo Letters. It was made up of a variety of "punked"-type letters written to various businesses/celebrities/etc. Most included an even more entertaining response from the "punkees". Quite a character in his own right!
I was expecting a boat and a film crew with him. Meh
Penn looks like he just woke up!!!!
Standard look...
What a great Story 😁👍🏻

I love you Sean! Like a much older brother. :D
TAPS!!!
They were about to picked up and taken for a cruise!
Sweet
saw Belushi and Akroyd cutting up in a cushman at Mardi Gras 1977 at Jackson Square
Omg
Good story but fabricated I bet.
I still remember the big front page headlines in all our local (Tacoma, Seattle, etc) newspapers the morning after Belushi died: "Belushi dead of apparent choking". The drug stuff didn't come out until a while after. I think they were trying to make it more of a Mama Cass deal than the sordid story it was.
