A mob boss in therapy. They could totally make a show out of this.
An entire movie perhaps even a sequel.
OH! Slow down there quasimoto!
They did its called The Sopranos
They did, from 1999 to 2007.
Analyze This
I have never seen John Belushi as the godfather. He is fantastic. He looks like him and he has the mannerisms down pat.
~ Belushi was one of the best impressionists ever.
You gotta see john and Peter Boyle when hosting SNL do Dueling Brandos sketch its awesome.
@@hammer44head That's classic!
Genius
Did he also stuff cotton in his cheeks, like Marlon Brando?
"They blew up Michael's wife and lovely car."
Got me LMAO 45 years ago, and just got me again!!
That beautiful Alfa Romeo. I still cry about it today!
I like the line about the ASPCA still after him "because of that horse thing".
@@carolynzaremba5469 Yeah, that one cracked me up as well. I just watched again, and noticed for the first time that John wasn't the only excellent performer in this sketch. Laraine Newman nailed it, too.
And he just blows over "and they shot my son Santino 56 times".
@@carolynzaremba5469I remember seeing that movie as a kid, that part was so gross.
The comic genius of John Belushi can never be replaced
His brother Jim Belushi was a great comedian too.
@@GOLDENFLYWARRIOR Sure thing, but the comic genius really shines through here
@@johnryder1713 sadly his genius shining through here might have had help with being high on cocaine too. It was part of that era with Richard Pryor and Robin Williams too.
@@GOLDENFLYWARRIOR And Cheech and Chong, with a different drug, Marijuana
"the ASPCA is after me about this horse thing" actually made me laugh out loud.
*this horse thing
😄😄😄😄😅😅
Then 4 years later, Heaven's Gate came along and they had much bigger fish to fry
The fact that Vito picked up an ORANGE to show how his feelings towards the Tattaglias is amazing, Oranges symbolised death in the movie.
That was actually a re-enactment of how Vito actually dies in the movie. In the garden, playing with his grandson, he puts an orange peel in his mouth and runs around.
@Ongo Gablogian oranges show up in the meeting with the five families, and when Hagen meets Woltz. You got my point.
@Ongo Gablogian yes and the final scene of all in film 3
"what's that?" "it's an orange from Miami!"
I kinda felt a little ashamed by laughing uncontrollably at such a simple schtick, but Belushi is just flat out hilarious.. lol..
I knew Belushi was GOLD but this was platinum
He is Albanian
@Sharon Jensen He is irreplaceable. He can not be followed.

John Belushi's talent was beyond talent. SNL is an American Legend.
Respect
agree with your comment one of the best in the film business Same with Robin Williams and Richard Pryor
"The ASPCA is after me about this horse thing.." I remember that line so well from back when *lol*
Yeah, I feel that way too. Isn't cutting ones head off animal abuse?
that ASPCA guy is sleeping with the fishes
That got the biggest laugh in this skit. 😆
And they did NOT say that "No horse was harmed in the filming of this movie". (The horse never DID get a mention in the credits!) (WHAT, NO RESIDUALS FOR THE HORSIE!)
I died, then watched the entire setup again, then died, then watched it again and still had a great laugh
I miss John Belushi and we all suffered a great loss when he died, but thank God we have these old SNL skits to watch again
Belushi was unbelievable as Vito. Newman was absolutely fantastic as well!
As great as Belushi is in this sketch -- and he is great -- I have to say that Laraine Newman OWNS it. She is a really underrated comic performer.
She came back for the 40th Anniversary SNL episode to be apart of the California's sketch.
I had a teen crush on her - she was always the highlight for me.
@@chaddawkins8525 yeah, well, nobody's perfect 🤷🏻♀️
They incorporated Newman’s SNL screen test and her written monologue for the skit. Great collab!!
Heck yeah, 'bitchin' bod' & all:)!
It's amazing how he covered almost all the aspects of the godfather in such a small sketch.
Great Vito Corleone impersonation!
+Serdar Ozdek john not jim
Gio Cap lol he is
He was a pretty good Joe Cocker and samurai too.
that is how he got hired doing this role in his interview.
mrbob424 ...p/s...any relation to ‘Mr.Bill’??;)
"Tattaglias, Barzinis, the Boyardees...." LOL! I'm surprised the audience didn't catch the canned spaghettios reference 😅
PenelopeDinkledong S Did you know that the Spaghetti in a can by Chef Boy-r-dee, was invented by an Italian American named Ettorre Boyardi? Canned eats for soldiers during WW II.
I got it Penelope and I almost went myself!!! Lol
I thought so. Lmao!! That's great comedic writing. Chef Boy-ar-di. We used to have that sometimes, as a kid. Thought it was fine, then. Not so much, as I got older. Grear skit though. Belushi was a champ.
Wayne J Whoever sold him that speedball should be drawn and quartered.
I caught it, and I laughed so hard, the cotton in my cheeks flew out, and I nearly missed seeing my Academy Award, when they shoved it under the door!
A mob boss in therapy 30 years before Tony Soprano
Wow
there was also a movie in 1999 called analyze this and a sequel
@@OGRE_HATES_NERDS Sopranos aired before Analyze This.
@@anthonycruciani939 ive never seen eother one
@@OGRE_HATES_NERDS First one was funny don't waste your time on second one.
RIP John - gone but never forgotten - a true and genuine legend! x
Always@❤
This was from one of the very first episodes of SNL. One of Loraine Newman's finest scenes!
One of the great injustices of life was being denied watching John Belushi grow old.
The best Corleone impression I have ever seen. RIP John
Thank you to my late Dad to introducing me to these comedy legends and to finding my sense of humor in life. RIP Dad and John
“The shicksa’s making us a Presbyterian pie” is one of my fave lines of ALL time.
What does shicksa mean?
Hilarious
A nonjewish girl
"The ASPCA is after me about this horse thing" might be one of the best SNL jokes ever.
"They blew up Michael's wife and lovely car!"
:DD
That was a classic car. One of the finest ever made. An Alfa Romeo 6C
@Jamshaid Ali Yeah. It's pretty grim to take your own car out into the middle of a lake and just shoot it like that.
He probably flubbed that line, and it should've been, 'they blew up Michael's lovely wife and car'. But, minor point, Belushi is terrific!
As PJ O'Rourke says about _Thelma and Louise_ "with all this CGI, can't we re-shoot that movie, keep the happy ending, BUT SAVE THE CAR????"
~ Laraine Newman nailed the Valley Girl thing, long before Moon Zappa ever touched it (but she did a great job too).
The sad thing is that 45 years ago they mocked it; now most Americans talk like this, if not quite as exaggerated.
The ASPCA is after me about this horse thing...🤣🤣🤣
Comedy Genius, the very best incarnation of SNL The 1970’s were truly magical and righteous.
Yes, they were. Glad I was young in the 1970s.
The late, great John Belushi. He was a natural and I miss him every day.
Laraine’s monologue is hilarious 😂😂
“The ASPCA is after me about this horse thing”….. that shit cracked me up! 😂😂😂😂
ive never seen such a great impression of Don Corleone , John was great , rip
"The ASPCA is after me about this horse thing."
How all of them were able to keep a straight face without laughing looking at John Belushi doing this skit is incredible.
And not reading cue cards!
"Wife and lovely car". Priceless.
The alfa was beautiful..
~ This has always been my favorite cast of this show. There were some good ones later, but this one, the originals, is untouchable.
They were my favorite cast also
Belushi never failed to make me laugh, wish I could go through those first 5 years of SNL again
Look at ghey crap they put out now
Wow! A 40 year old skit about a 45 yr old movie and its funny. We still get the jokes. Way above what we have now. Both r classics.
100%. "Comedy" on TV today is garbage.
Vintage SNL, always a delicious snack.
The tastiest! 😎👍👏
Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes, but siill love your Impersonation John Belushi. Lol
Nothing beat the original SNL cast. Genius! Lorraine Newman was under appreciated while on this show. Belushi was always great. Dead on with the Godfather. Is there a better "valley girl" than Lorraine?
They are funny too right now, Trump impersonation was hilarious
@@argadargad9128 their sad
The cast of SNL from 1989 to 1994 was pretty funny too.
She was great as Regan from the Exorcist.

The Tattaglias, the Barzinis, the Boyardees; they all have contract out on me ...

John Belushi was a great comedian actor a legend
dionyssisgreece he was an ALBANIAN. We are all proud of him and he will be missed ❤
@@LeWildSister He was/is my favorite all time SNL player.
John Belushi would have been a headliner in the golden age of comedy . Up there with The Marx Brothers , Laurel and Hardy , Abbott and Costello . No doubt
I remember the first time I saw this, growing up in santa cruz during the 70’s. I thought that Laraine Newman’s ditzy california blonde was spot on. It reminded me of some girls I went to high school with.
The original cast, always the funniest & best!, Belushi, Akroyd, Radner, & Chase.
Don't forget Garrett Morris...Director of the New York School for the Deaf and Chico Esquela
....with Lorraine Newman here, Bill Murray, and of course Don Novello as Father Guido Sarducci. Incomparable 🤣
John was amazing. Wow. He was truly great. He maintains perfect character with all the laughs. I don't think the world truly saw his amazing talent. Check his self audition before he was famous.
David Chase saw this and thought, I can make a whole show out of this!
The ASPCA line was a classic!
I know 😂😂😂😂😂
"The ASPCA is after me, because of this horse thing!" 🐴 😀😀😀
Laraine. The original Valley Girl.
Laraine
Her character resembles most girls of this decade lol 😂 minus the sarcasm
Fer Sure!!!!
Back when it was called the Encino accent, and Sherri even says she's from Encino
Wow, John Belushi had an extraordinary and amazing talent!
I miss the “quality” and “talent” of older SNL.
Yeah I didn't notice anyone in this sketch looking at cue cards.
Why “quality” and “talent”? Was this supposed to be sarcastic?

Laraine Newman. Most underrated SNL player all time!
She absolutely nailed the SoCal therapy bimbo character.
She's the best thing in this sketch.
@Bill Lozier underrated for a reason..
Loved her Connie Conehead
I dated a girl in the 70s that was a dead ringer for her. It was so weird, even after a couple months I'd look at her and say to myself "Loraine Newmann". Every time we went somewhere people would do double takes, point, or you could see they wanted say something, a few would ask her if she was her of course and there were some autograph requests. She dumped me after a while saying all I wanted was sex. Now that I think back on it, yup, she pretty much hit the nail on the head.
A great talent missed..still after so many years.
"The ASPCA is after me about this horse thing!"🤣 OMG! I died! RIP Legend! 💙🙏🏻💜
Best Godfather impersonation I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot of them.
I was in junior high school and crept down to the living room every Saturday night to watch this. Epic comedy never seen again
That the best Vito impression I've ever seen.

SNL did a "Dueling Brandos" sketch once with Belushi and Peter Boyle, who did a great Brando impression himself!
Belushi is gonna make you an impersonation you can't refuse! (i.e. if u haven't watched it already)
everything was so understated back then. everything now is shine shine shine
Belushi was one of the best. Really sorry to see him go. Rip!!!!
I remember when this was broadcast! The best skit ever.

R.I.P Angel

The look on Lorraine Newan's face when she says, " look the chick is making us a Presbyterian pie!" always cracks me up.
“Shiksa” not “chick” which is a much funnier joke
@@noamstein4695 Whatever
Belushi totally nailed Vito. Bravissimo! 👏👏👏
A very underrated actor, Belushi. He was great!
Laraine Newman is so funny in this skit. It's wonderful.
Premise taken for "Analyze This and Analyze That".
I actually saw this on TV live back in the 70's when I was a pot smoking, dumb, and clueless teenager, and I somehow knew that I was seeing history in the making. I never forgot the Godfather's girlfriend saying, "Guido, you're covering up." That killed me. RIP, John Belushi. You were the best comic and character actor ever. I loved you, man. Thanks for all the laughs.
Questa interpretazione del Padrino è veramente da Antologia, grande e geniale John Belushi 😄
Of course Belushi was great but don't overlook Laraine Newman. She was brilliant in this skit.

Airdate 10JAN, 1976. 0:15 "group will start at 8 O'clock next Tuesday" 6:00 "group will start at 9 O'clock next Tuesday". Why the extra hour? To attend Vito's funeral? 4:50 Years before Moon Zappa's Valley Girl 5:52 "Norman Mailer was right: you can't go home". Actually it was Thomas Wolfe, intentional error to accentuate her blondness
I remember this when it first aired.i taught it was the best godfather impression i ever heard and i still think it is.
2:38 The Boyardee family was notorious!
He looks exactly 91 percent like Vito Corleone.
The way gets up and starts stomping around after he puts the orange in his mouth is his hilarious 😂😂
WILL ALWAYS LUV BELUSHI & GOULD THEY'RE "EXCELLENT"!💜
Belishi at his best. R I P
Larraine Newman was the original "Valley Girl". She beat out Moon Zappa by 6 years!
Like, totally!
Robert Wilson ‘Fer’ sure!
Elliot Gould! John Belushi! What a cast! This rocked!
This might be the best one they ever did .I grew up with the Italians. They were fun to hang with. Buy the way about 30% of the US ARMY IN WW2 were of Italian decent.
The Tattaglias, the Barzinis, the Boyardees, they all have contracts out on me.
The ASPCA is after me about that horse thing.
hahaha
Is this this the genesis of The Sopranos?
John Belushi was an awesome comedian! He is missed very much
John Belushi's Godfather impression is VERY impressive but Larraine Newman crushed it as Annie Hall/Diane Keaton.

Laraine Newman was doing Valley Girl then at 5:16 she says she's from Encino. 6 years before Moon Zappa or Tracy Nelson on Square Pegs or Nic Cage in Valley Girl. Then she brought it full circle by playing Karina's mother in The Californians for the 40th special.
When the first SNL cast started getting famous, a lot of attention was on Chevy Chase. Belushi was my favorite. I was actually glad Chase was replaced when he left for films. Then the entire cast was replaced. Never the same, but it still has pleased audiences for decades.
I stopped watching after the original cast left.
@@carolynzaremba5469 I understand. Sad about Gilda , AND Belushi. They all made that era great. I have seen other casts, but not as much as I enjoyed the originals. Quit watching sometime in the early eighties.
