"Americans," directed by Jameson Stafford, is a public service film starring Sean Penn and Kid Rock. The goal of the film is to tear down the one-dimensional political stereotypes portrayed by the media by confronting them head on. It reminds us that what really matters is that we're all Americans, with diverse thoughts, opinions and stances on issues. We are millions of unique, individual parts, the sum of which comprise a whole that is the shining beacon of freedom throughout the world.
The film reminds us to be proud of our differences, and to never forget that we're all in this together as Americans.

I remember when this first came out. I had a good laugh and appreciated the message. Today it brought tears to my eyes. We are even further off the path today vs 9 yrs ago.

This is a message we as a country are dying to hear. I think it was a big reason Biden won in 2020; part of his campaign hinged on needing to work together as Americans not enemies in political tribes, and his history as somebody known to work across the aisle was a part of that. I know it's part of the reason I voted for him. I think things are a little less heated than they were from 2015-2020 in the Trump era, but even now we're not that much better off. I wonder if we ever will be. The message we consistently get from the news "journalism" that is 90% propaganda by either far left or far right; the message we see when we make the mistake of traversing the barren wasteland of thought that is social media is constantly this: join us, or die. My way, or the highway. You're either somebody who fully believes everything my team believes, or you're a Nazi. What we need is compassion, an ability to engage with ideas you disagree with without letting politics become personal or interfere with our common humanity. We need an intellectual discourse that encourages nuance, looks at context, and lets voices in the middle be heard, rather than silencing all dissent.

The best thing in a Kid Rock performance was after the last tune he walked up to a soldier (in an audience of soldiers because it was in the Middle East) and gave him the guitar he had been playing all night. I was touched by his gesture and that permanently established my perception of what Kid Rock is. He is the real thing and I hope his senate ambitions pay off for him and America.

I was lucky enough to see him perform when I was deployed in 2010. He loves his country, he loves our troops. Unlike many of the "Fakes" who only say it, he lives it. How many like Sean Penn actually tour every year essentially for free to play for our military? Kid Rock, Gary Sinise, Charlie Daniels, and few others. You will not see a Sean Penn, or any of the "Politically Correct" doing things like that.

My son's best friend just went to the US for the holidays. He's been double jabbed for the trip but still caught covid. I tried to reassure my son the US would take care of him. Last night (Christmas day) i learnt one of your folk had took pity and let him stay in his loft. I have always loved you America and I always will! Well thank you so much for making my day! A good few years ago my son was real sick and needed a kidney (he's all good now) and he introduced me to your music, I can't even put into words the strength I got from listening to "Only God Knows Why" and how your music helped pull both of us through the worst of times. I've been so blessed by both my son's they have taken me to many rock gigs over the years but we never got to yours as we've never known of you doing a gig in the UK? I have never seen this, but glad I’m seeing it now. It’s a great message. If we shut each other out we will never have the opportunity to understand those that have different beliefs. Social media and the keyboard warriors don’t help. A few of my very best friends have completely opposite political views than I do, but we love and respect each other, keep the discussions brief, and know when to agree to disagree. We will never be able to Find a middle ground if we don’t get close enough to hear each other, and meet at the lines that divide us.

I have to give credit to Penn in his role in the movie "Colors"....That fight/arrest scene with the character "Two-time" was a much better fight than Roddy Piper and that other dude in "They Live" where Roddy was trying to get the other dude to wear those glasses. I mention this because in numerous discussions about the "best fight scene in a movie", (especially in a bar with a bunch of drunk dudes) it's almost INEVITABLE that the fight scene in "They Live" will make the Top 5, and that scene in "Colors" wouldn't even get honorable mention. Does the Oscars even have a category for best fight scene? They should you know.😶
