- to make up for my last video on the haunting of hill house, i decided to upload one of my favorite scenes. i think episode 6 is one of the greatest episodes of all time; it's dark, eery, suspenseful, and an emotional rollercoaster. enjoy and watch the series if you haven't yet!
Nell always tried to keep the family together.

@@Julevernes1961 sorry I meant the second installment of the haunting series. The Bly Manor, with her character keeping the family together
“I was right here the whole time. But you couldn’t see me. No one could see me.”
Mannn, that's heartbreakiiinngg
😢😢 yeah
I wish they kept that scene in this clip. It makes me tear up every time. Nell just wanted her family back and she died alone & scared with no one to turn to. How freakin sad, man. Luke was the ONLY one willing to try!
“The wrong parent died!” God, that gave me chills
hits too hard. something that can't be taken back. as a parent, a son, a son-in-law...this scene always makes me cry.
It gave me an earache.
"Dad, I can't see Nell."
"You've gone Nell blind son."
Steve’s a dickhead
This giving me chills at a hundred degrees
It's better than pills how it put me to sleep
Nell interrupts this argument with the coffin, interrupts Theo and Shirl’s argument in the car with a scream. both times, everyone stops and reunites, if only for a moment. over and over, she’s putting them back together. she just wanted them all in one place, as one unit, not the fragments that they tried so hard to be.
My takeaway here is that Nell tips the coffin over to symbolize that they still have each other to fight with....here she is over here dead as a doornail and they are fighting over petty matters. I think she's telling them to be grateful for one another while they're still here
GUYS IM ON TO SOMETHING:
When Luke started to go to the casket of Nell in the beginning (not shown in this scene) and he couldn’t but after a few minutes he was ready, I counted the rows of chairs. There are 7 rows just like they counted always if they were scared. Nell and Luke
Oh my god! I didn't realize this before thanks for saying.
This made me love the show more.
Out of all the episodes this one scared me and creeped me out the most, spooky stuff going on, your loved one lying in their coffin In a huge empty room where it’s just you and them in pure silence, you thinking they’re gonna move and say something but they’re just lying there cos somehow their essence is gone , eurgh just gives me the creeps, never liked that scenario
There are also 7 people in the room when they all finally go to view the body:
Hugh, Steve, Shirley, Theo, Luke, Shirley's husband, and the ghost of Nell.
Every time I watch this series there's something brilliant that took me forever to notice. Good freakin' catch on that one.
I also noticed something else now that I'm rewatching it again. I don't know why but Steven consoling him after Luke being unable to face the casket(mentioned above really hit me, because something occured to me.
Steven: "Take your time. We can wait. There's no rush."
It took this many years for his siblings to finally give him the time and patience to catch his breath and recover, and they don't blame him for his understandable freakout. The words that he's needed for years were finally said. I don't k ow if it was intentional, but at the same time, I can't say it wasn't lol
This whole episode is amazing. I like that they experiment to not cut the scene but to take it as 1 long shot. Believe me this is freaking amazing cinematography
agreed!
Watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode The Body. This episode is inspired by it.
yeah this episode caught me off guard
No
SAME
an interesting thing i noticed is how Luke, even though he is big now, wasnt and still isnt a violent or angry person. so vulnerable sadly. he likely looks up to his big brother and still sees him as larger than life person to not even try to stop him.
yeah i noticed he was never involved in any fight when it comes to all the siblings
@@arielvanessa He, like Nellie, is used to them not listening. He's sadly learned to stay on the sidelines, whether it be during a fight or in their lives in general.
No no
this episode is so good i’m gonna cry all over again
it's the best episode :))
My fav of the series!
To everyone mad aboit the denial...each sibling represents one of five stages of loss. This show needed more hardware from awards shows. The symbolism is incredible.
Yup!!!!!!!!
Can you please tell me..which sibling represented which stage of loss???just curious
@@Jo_is_fine denial, anger, bargaining, depression, then acceptance. Steven, Shirley, Theo, Luke, Nell, respectively. There’s a really good UA-cam video about it too.
5 stages of grief*
1:29 You can see the pain in his face, and I doubt it's just from lifting the coffin. You can see his heart breaking
Its a very sad story
Steve's a dickhead
@@renameagain5808 But he's still human.
@@isabellab-c5351 never said he wasn't :)
@@renameagain5808 no he isn’t, if you understand him you’ll know that he isn’t.
The father makes me so sad, he just wanted his kids to see the real person their mother was, even if that meant losing them.
The saddest thing is that their mother wasn’t even a bad person, she wasn’t a villain, she needed help and unfortunately, he arrived late for that
This whole story just has so much tragedy in it
the thing about this scene.....the hidden thing about this scene which makes it so powerful to me is that despite all their fighting and hatred and bottled up anger and contempt, despite all this shit that’s kept half the family estranged from each other...they’re still a family. they still care deeply for one another in ways that transcends even them. and they think that when the most innocent of all dies, that there’s nothing left holding them together, that they’re doomed to drift apart in anger. but that simply isn’t true. the Crains went through an indescribable trauma, but in their hearts they are a family. a tight knit family, whom just wants to see the others kept safe. they come together when there’s a threat, when their emotions are at the highest they swallow them up for the sake of togetherness. seeing hugh steve shirley and luke putting Nell’s coffin back holds so much more meaning that simple decency. it’s a symbolic representation of the dynamic of this broken family. hurt on the outside but deep care when the goings get rough. and THAT. is what makes HOHH so great.
Miranda M sooooo maybe it’s possible her coffin just happened to fall?
".... And the rest is just confetti!"
Fuck that's long. Can I get a summary of what you wrote? Not being an ass just asking for my eyes.
You should be a writer. Seriously.
Something I noticed. Any time anything is done to desecrate a corpse, Shirley has the strongest reaction. When the buttons were on Nell's eyes, she went into hysterics over what, to her, looked like a mockery.
I think her experience with the kittens and her seeing her mom "fixed" at her funeral gave her a deep respect and care for the dead
Well yeah, I’m a mortuary student myself and a lot of us who go into the business have had an experience with death that can cause us to be particularly sensitive over the treatment of the deceased. It’s a job that requires a lot of empathy, that’s for sure.
The last scene when she appear next to her dead body Makes me CRY a Lot Poor Baby
“The wrong Parent died”
Uhm I am Pretty Sure the mom tried to poison you guys and cause nelly to die.
Except Steve didn't know any of that; none of them did. She only tried to poison Nell and Luke and they were too young to realize what was happening and to remember the incident in great detail. Hugh hid the majority of what happened from them, like he said, "to protect their memories of their poor mother".
As far as Steve saw, his dad woke them up in the middle of the night and left his mother alone during a mental breakdown and she killed herself.
@@juawannabarron6509 what I don't understand is how Theo could never see any of this through touching her father. Or did she never allow him to touch her again?
Moby Dick even she did touch him, it would’ve been with her gloves on which nullify her power
@@mobydick3769 That's what I always thought. She could have just touched all of them and could have known everything. Maybe she did but chose to ignore it??
It was the houses fault, it drove her insane and made her do those things
I cried so much watching this scene. The Haunting of Hill House truly got to me, really bad.
Steve's face when they're setting the coffin straight just kills me every time. He's having such a hard time dealing with all of this. He's so used to putting his head in the sand and denying all of it, and having to physically touch the coffin made it real and nearly breaks him. He just looks like a sad and scared kid again.
Nellie always wanted to keep them all together in one place. Now they're together because of her.
the worst part was the ending when Nell spirit stood there and her young self said "you couldn't see me" :( gets me every time
Steve makes me so ANGRY in this scene! In this entire episode, really!
At first he made me angry too, but then I watched the rest of the season and now he’s one of my favourite characters. Just because a lot of people don’t understand him, and if you watch the 9th and 10th episode you will understand what i mean!!! He has been through so much more than what people think!! And at first he thinks it’s all Mentall illness, so he wants to get away from it as far as possible, but then the last episode, he starts to realise that it’s not mentall illness, it ACTUALLY is the house. It’s a lot to take in, and to think about! But that’s what makes him so special (to me) Xx
@Ramon Florencio Perez yes!! So true! His experience wasn’t traumatic THEN! But it’s traumatic NOW, for him!! I think thats in somew ays even scarier. Because you’re an adult now.
Steve is pretty crazy in my opinion.
@@martin.aguilar.a He's pretty annoying in this episode. Also funny how he's judging everyone else very harsh but himself. I mean before the book; he was rather nothing at all; his wife even paid the bills to support him, yet his judgement on the rest is extremely harsh. Reminds me of my big brother that does the same.
@@stijnvdv2 Lmao yeah. I bet Steven Crain wants to tell everyone to truth.
This whole episode was soooo intense & I was so zoned in it & focused on it... it was sooo crazy. This show was the best!!!!
Its cause of the great cinematography
yes, it must have been due to most of it being shot in a single take
Yeah me too. Steve is pretty crazy in my opinion.
The concept of who the bent neck lady was.. fucked me up for weeks! I had a thought as a child what if people who are bothered by ghosts are just themselves from when they die.. it didn’t make sense so I never thought about it again.. when this episode ended I was terrified. Time is nothing to ghosts. They pass through all moments in time
They all quit fighting and came together to care for Neil.
Who the heck is Neil 😂
Having the casket fall was genius. I kinda saw it coming the first time I watched but still genius. *chef’s kiss*
This episode. As someone who experienced a similar trauma , this episode had me a 22 y/o on his couch bawling. Never have I watched a show that touched such a tragedy and felt so close to it. This whole episode from start to finish was probably my favorite yet hardest to get through and I told myself (after being warned countless times) that if I could get through this episode then I feel I could conquer pretty much anything that would come after
Stay strong bro ❤️
What about the scene where Luke says something but Nell was always there that they all couldn’t see her, that part was emotional
You're right - for me, this always felt like the biggest moment of the entire series.
This was also the best episode in the series.
You know, yesterday I finished The Haunting of Bly Manor and I really liked it but this one is still my favorite. Hill House has this amazing perfectly filmed chapter that just gaves me chill everytime I watch it and boy I do I love this story
When Nell revealed that all of them already got into the red room without realizing it. The red room was actually their mom's reading room, Luke's tree house, Steve's game room, Theo's dance studio, Shirley's family room and Theo's toy room. It was mind blowing
Wrong clip?
Hill House was perfectly splendid
Haha mixing both together I see
jesus that episode 6 was intense! reminds me of the red wedding except instead of relying on shock, this episode played on pretty much EVERY emotion. And the speed with which they did it borderline confused me, but in a good way, like the sudden twists and turns of a roller coaster. i could watch this episode dozens of times.
Sameee! When I watched this, i thought “hey i have seen this before...”😂😭😭
The creator did a very good job here that I'm even surprised how he pulled off another series that would have the same impact on me as hill house did. Hands down some of the best concepts i have ever seen in series.
@Ramon Florencio Perez bly manor is the worst, i read a lot of hatred in the reviews for that one and went with my bars touching the ground, and it still managed to disappoint me. though the first and the second episode was pretty good, and there was this other episode where they tell a story from a random ghost's perspective, which stood out to me the most(second last episode i think)
Between the long takes, the storm scene in the house, Nell at the end, and archangel Kevin taking care of the whole family like the S-tier dad he is, this is probably my favorite episode of the whole series. Also really hit home on the "funeral reunion" experience for me.
Steve’s face of pain when they’re righting Nell’s casket, whoof, gets me every time
Nelly’s in the coffin like “will you idiots stop yelling I’m trying to lay down. Don’t make me come out this coffin.” Coffin falls. “Oh great, your lucky I can’t get out of this coffin.”
0:55 me when my mom tries to wake me up
One of my favorite sense from this was when all the kids were in the red room and they first saw nell and she was repeating herself like a broken record and then she found some clarity and went into her big speach
This whole episode is my favorite and this scene made me more emotional than the whole show because how much I relate to Nell feeling like nobody can see her. Because I’m autistic and my whole life nobody has understood me and saw me as a nuisance instead of understanding my struggles and helping me, and I have to “mask” all my autistic traits to not freak anyone out or be a burden to anyone, to the point where the the issues get so bad that I try to take my life in hopes of everyone seeing me.
“I was right here the whole time but you couldn’t see me, nobody could see me”
LMAO EVERYONE ELSE WHO WATCHES HILL HOUSE ALWAYS PICK A DEEP METAPHORICAL MOMENT FOR THEIR FAVORITE SCENE WHILE MINE IS WHEN STEVE AND NELL ARE WAITING FOR SHIRLEY TO FIND OUT THAT THEO IS GAY HAHAHA
Gods the writing was good then.
Their fighting is literally making her “turn over in her grave”
"YOU'RE THE GHOST"
😂😅
I always assumed it was Nell that put the buttons on her own eyes (she LOVED buttons) to show that she was there since they couldn't see her!!! 💔💔
I started crying when the dad died in the end 😭 and my parents thought I was over Gramatic
Rose spoiler 😡😡😡
"over germanic"
I think you mean “over dramatic” 😂😂
bruh you really just spoiled it😐
@@yuliana-wd7ul its two years old lol, you fr shouldn't have looked at comments.
This is literally a perfect episode of television.
Off topic but Luke & the older Dad is smokin hot.....just sayin
nellie kept interrupting all of them when they fought🥺 even when shirley and theo were fighting in the car😭 god they shoulda listened to her
My favorite scene in the Haunting of Hill House: EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
This scene fucking broke me.
Nell said, "SHUT THE FUCK UP" and that was good on her.
Love this episode. I love how they made it look for the majority of the episode as though it was recorded in one take, without changing camera angles
My absolute favorite episode. I dont care about the final episode and hlw it portrayed the house. It needs to he destroyed i think if we get a season 2 it should be a prequel of sorts.
If we get a season 3 it should be about steven going back to write another book. And by the end of that season he realises that place needs to be demolished by any means neccessary just like hugh did before the dudleys intervened
This show is so special to me cause i went exactly what luke went through woth heroin addiction im two years sober now
Congratulations on your sobriety!! You don’t know me and I don’t know you but I am proud of you for such a great milestone. I can’t fathom how difficult that must have been for you
The change from one-take shots to regular film-style editing was so jarring and worked in such an emotional way for this ending.
Agreed. This intense follow up to the emotional episode 5 put this show in my Netflix top 10. Amazing show. And this was my fav episode.
The way her head bounces KILLS ME
This serie is 10 stars in 5 avaliable..
Nell just wanted them to quit fighting :(
I'm gonna say this over and over again, this is the very FIRST horror series or i'd say horror genre that i've ever cried to. It's just too good, the characters, the storyline, the emotions, it's just beyond perfect & has been a roller-coaster ride filled with secrets & truths kept within!
I really love this series especially how everything unfolded at the end.
Nelly has always been trying to protect her family.
The bottons on the eyes was the scariest part
This was Nell's way of saying "oh heeell noo Steve u dont get to say that to him" and it never fails to move me.
Saw something similar on Corncob TV
Seeing how Steve's so angry here kinda bothers me, I mean.. Steve is the depiction of denial in the 5 stages of grief, explains why he's denying things all the time, the skeptic one. He just doesn't believe things even if he did witness them, like that time he saw Nell' ghost in the apartment, sad really.
Yeah, it kind of bothered me too. But when watched the 9th and 10th episode it didn’t bother me anymore, just because those episodes show that he has been through terrible things just like his siblings, and his dad showing him the actual truth is so incredible!!! He shows his emotions in a different way, anger and frustration. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to be loved!! I also think he is denying everything, because he thinks its a disease, he knows in the back of his mind that he saw ghosts, but doesn’t want to admit it, he doesn’t want to be “mentally ill” like the rest of his siblings he thought. But as the serie goes he understands more and more of the family, the house, and the things he has seen or not. I still don’t understand why people hate him.... anywayyy i hope you loved the serie just as much as i did!! Xx
@@sophievankampen5331 because of what he put his wife through.. that's why he gets so much hate.
The dialogue in this is... well, it's dialogue.
My favorite scene was also in the episode but it happens near the end of the episode when little Nell is crying saying "Nobody could see me" and then we see Nell's ghost standing in front of her coffin and she just looks so sad. It just really hit home hard
Nell is truly a selfless person. She takes deep pride in family and cares about everybody.
Everyone talks about how much they hate Steve; I actually like all the siblings. My friend on the other hand hates Shirley because she cheats on her husband and just stares at her sister who is having a complete mental breakdown🤷♀️
She has to realize tho she was in a state of shock as well. She didn't see as much as Luke and Nelly, and it could've been a moment of tryna gather her own thoughts while processing what Theo was saying... "You know I can see things when I touch people, you always kinda knew" meaning Shirley was totally overwhelmed at this point, the banging, her brother going to the house, in which they think is to kill himself.. Then Nelly ghost showing up etc. I understand. I liked Shirley.. Didn't appreciate how she handled Luke at the wedding but the way she "fixed" her sister and was determined to do so was everything!!!
Oh btw I liked all the siblings too.. They all had their moments that made me be like ugh but yet I tried to put myself in every last person shoes..
@@rebekahjackson5996 Me too!
They don't hate him, just what he did
The best thing about this scene is how the can almost tell that they were the reason the coffin fell, and they just try to put it back together afterwards like they feel ashamed and sorry
Though rating of season 2 is not as good as season 1, but i feel bly manor was equally good as hill house.
This is best scene I've ever seen in any horror movies/series ,period.
the symbolism!! still breaks my heart
That is one of my favorite scenes too because it's so sad when Nell said why couldn't they see me
Love this show, watched it about 3 times, bly manor was good too, i just finished midnight mass which was also pretty good
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to find this episode amazing.
reminds me of telltale games' the walking dead
I was told this series would be scarier than Bly Manor (i accidentaly watched it first). Long story short it's scarier AND it destroyed me emotionally
The dad was always right.
Can anyone tell me where the part is where they’re talking in the funeral home and Nell’s ghost is stood there watching them in the background?
😯
we all expected this series to scare the crap out of us but it just made us cry and reflect on our lives
That's what good horror does: it's never as one dimensional as a simple jumpscare
I personally think it’s Nell’s ghost who threw he caskin on the ground, to get their attention. Like in the other scene (the throwback) where little Nell was standing in the hall crying “nobody could see me but i was standing right here, why couldn’t you see me?” Btw i also don’t know why people are hating on Steve?!
I think people don’t like Steve cause he wrote the book to make money but doesn’t actually believe any of the stuff his family says. And then he gets mad and upset when they bring it up but also writes a whole ass book about it. Personally I hate that he had a vasectomy and then didn’t tell his wife and made her think that she was the one that couldn’t have kids. But that’s just my opinion
@@maggierappa417 yeah that was so stupid of him. He should’ve told her, but I still don’t hate him. Specially after the dad told him all that stuff. And i think he was one of the people of the house who had been haunted the most. Only he didn’t realise or wanted to realise. I’m glad everything ended well, that she is pregnant and the family isn’t mad at each other anymore
basically, he wrote about the last night in the house and made a best selling book on it without the family's permission. The family felt it was inconsiderate to profit from their trauma. That's like you going to therapy and the psychiatrist makes a best selling book from whatever personal things you tell him. They're right to be livid
Just finished watching this series and thought it was both fantastic & emotional, gonna give Bly manor a crack.
I like the whole episode , where all family members will argue . Full drama.
I’m here because of a meme. A little girl was standing by the Casket with her mouth open like she was dead too
Them: “Stop making everything a joke.”
Me:
OUTSTANDING acting during this entire episode. And OUTSTANDING job by the crew to pull something of the sort.
I thought this serie was to scare the heck out of me, but instead, it made me cry like a child
I cried.....
10/10
Such a simple scene with a very wholesome meaning
When she said “I have to fix her makeup” I lost is
The look on Steve's face lifting that coffin made me cry. I know he's hurt too; seeing his sister lying in a coffin and his family torn apart😢
The best haunted house stories were always about family
I freaking love this show oml
LOL dont get me wrong this was so sad but when she fell that was so funny
😂😅
I just rewatched this and it’s even better the second time.. I’m obsessed with this show.
This was a masterpiece of film and writing ✍️ my favorite too!”
This will always be a masterpiece
Even in death Nell is trying to tell them WTF!?! WE need to be together and love eachother. ❤️
This episode is one of the scariest atmospheric episodes of any series ever created
Love when Papa got in Steve’s face! God he got on my last good nerve!
