I can't count how many times I tried to find this soundtrack at a store and they took me to the band A Simple Plan. I remember at a Borders Books, after they had showed me to the band A Simple Plan and I explained again that I was looking for the soundtrack to the movie, not the band, they told me that A Simple Plan had not made a movie, and they were only a band. I may have been in an alternate reality at that time.
Got here after watching Danny Elfman Master Class on Film Scoring. He describes choosing his old out of tune banjo to play along with the 3 piano chords that are each tuned slightly off from each other. Good to see the other comments regarding this score and am excited to give it a listen in the right frame of mind.
This is a fantastic movie. And Danny Elfman's score is chillingly beautiful.

While I do really like this movie and don’t listen to that band, I will say it’s not very well known
maestrojon There you have it. That’s why Borders went bankrupt ;)
maestrojon this exact same thing just happened to me with Spotify.
Hahahahahahaha, hilarious
Wow. I miss Borders.
RIP Bill Paxton!❤

what are the changes at 1:20 that he says are from Jerry Goldsmith?
great book, great movie, great music..... i love it!
I prefer Danny Elfman's more subtle scores than the extravagant one's he usually does for Tim Burton movies. This one is amazingly beautiful too.
peloquin I love this movie
I saw the movie yesterday, and because of these first notes I heard in the song I started looking for the music.
Gorgeous... My favourite Elfman score!

1:26 - 1:45 beautiful !
Haunting...
The use of quarter tones is really interesting. It does, in a Baroque sense, "move my affections". Does anyone know any more good examples?
I like all the banjo parts in this!
Very nice
@MisterMunt Agreed, this is a great score and definitely one of the best by Elfman.
Dem quarter tones~
