Couldn't have said it better myself. Billy is why i never quit dayz before i started. My friends told me about it the both quit after dying a few times. I enjoyed the experience and adventure but kept starving or getting sick. Then i found billy and actually made my way out of nwaf alive with hear just long enough to be spined by a Bush in vybor.😂
@@oakenleif I've got less than 12 hours in game. It's definitely a hard core game compared to the vast majority of games out there. I died a bunch of times, mostly to zombies...but finding food and weapons were bad as well. Watched his videos, and I actually made it out of the spawn area, got semi geared, was well fed and watered...and then ran into 2 players 4 hours later...who promptly shot me in the face lol....DayZ...what a ride.
I have over 1,000 hours in the game and I haven’t played it in like 3-4 years so I decided to pick it back up and your videos still are helpful with all the changes that came since then.
honestly the most helpful part was the end with the map, if youd be willing to make another video like that but just explaining what the major towns and player-highways are, im sure new people would come flocking in to watch. as someone who hasnt played dayz since the mod, all these new towns are overwhelming, itd be nice to know which towns are worth stoppin at and which ones i can skip

Was that a knife at the water pump ? I may be wrong, but I thought finding a medical pack/bag was good because you stood a chance of it containing some medical items. I think I would check it out just to be sure. One argument against what you said about a map is that all the signs in the game are in Cyrillic and few players read Cyrillic. You and almost everyone else use names that sound English. Of course, that does not negate the value of what you said about learning your way around by actually going out and experiencing the land. I mean 6,E,P,E,3,backwardsN,H,O does not say Berezino to me. Also if I remember correctly Cyrillic has 32 letters while the English alphabet has only 26 letters. (Back in 1968 I had a reason to learn the morse code for the Cyrillic alphabet.) I loved the video. In fact, I've loved every one of your videos that I have seen. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
With the steak knife, I have a hard time doing the stealth attack. It works really well with scythes and hunter knives. I'm somewhat surprised you don't spend more time looking over your shoulder. I've had a hard time getting a knife, but now that I know how many tools (screwdriver) can produce a stone knife, it's much easier. I'm the opposite (at least for now) when it comes to vests. I'll take space over protection, but I'm a crazy pacifist trying to be a trader. I died once when I was afk letting my health recover in as much time as it took me to walk to the fridge to grab some salsa and back to my room. Watched it back and I was taken out with a can opener. Sad.

I am brand new to DayZ I’ve been wanting to play it for years finally picked it! I’m absolutely hooked to it, but what I have trouble with is what is a good server to be on should I play the official? Also, this video was incredibly helpful. Can’t believe how much there is to this game. I love zombie survival games and this really scratched the itch

Hello bwad, I really like your videos🙂 I’m a newbie and only playing for 3 days. Just wanted to say that I’m playing on official EU server and have 5 times less loot😅 maybe It’s because I’m playing on the high traffic server and everything in front of me is looted, idk. I’ve only found 2 sprites and 1 jam during all of my playing time😅 but still I love the game!
Hi! I tend to not struggle on official servers with loot. The obvious points of interest/items that spawn in direct line of sight when in buildings may seem empty, but if you take the time to loot car wrecks, on shelves, in cabinets that are open, etc-- you may have more luck. These videos are NOT about the loot I find, it's helping you guys see WHERE I look to find items. Keep that in mind.
The first time I played I used my son (with about 10-12 hours of experience) as my source of information. I soon found myself starving so I gave him a call. He said orchards are a good place to find fruit since it would spawn in within 5 minutes, so that's where I went. About that time I heard a shot so I went to my belly and hid in the orchard till I was sure no one was around. I wasn't sure about the spawn. Was it 5 minutes per tree or for the whole orchard ? So, I found a corner of the orchard and started jogging circles around a tree then went to the next tree to run another circle. By the time I finished that orchard I was dizzy. I did find a couple apples which I ate immediately after finding them. Then I went back to my starting corner and visited every tree again, eating apples as I went. I found enough to fill every empty pocket. I admit I did not have all that many pockets, but I had food. I managed to stay alive almost an hour till the Zombies got me. Fruit, especially raw fruit, is not that great as a food item, I'm told, but when I died, I did not starve to death.
Man it is so hard to get the shit together to fish before i'm in white health. finding those first hooks takes so much longer then getting a pack of fruit together. or mushrooms. or a chicken and all the above. And then i usually don't have a shoulder slot left for it
I believe I explain this in the video, but I almost never look for the "real" gear. If finding a chicken is easy then, boom you have bones to make into hooks. All you need is a rope. Which you can find fairly easily, or craft with 12 rags (cut up clothing items) or combine guts with a blade. Easy. Then combine the rope with a long stick, dig up a worm for your hook, and attach it to the improvised rod. When you're done break down the rod with a knife to get your rope back and you can make a new one anytime you want. No shoulder slot needed. Easy, high quality food source on the go. MUCH more efficient than foraging.
I’m pretty new to the game and always die before I can find enough food to sustain me so the fishing tips were great. Great informative vid. +1 sub for you 😉
Hey, so if you don’t have a base down before logging out for the night will my guy just be passed out on the ground where I last was? I don’t want people taking the stuff I find.
When you log out, your character is removed from the server. Nobody can take the items on your character when you're logged out. If you have a base an log out, people can raid/loot your base items that aren't in your player's inventory
I'm quite fond of fruit and mushrooms. In real life as well. So I gots to have em in virtual reality. That lag was bullshit at about 38:40 you seemed to be on target with the first shot.
Seems like the zeds are a little bit more aggressive than they we're? Especially two or three on one. Or do more damage very easily. Which sucks I think.. they should've left that alone. Or player take damage way easier?
100%. I think a lot of players expect to find everything they need in a house just on the floor or something idek lol. You really need to know the weird spawn points in cars, on boats, and in little nooks and crannies inside house (and which houses tend to have better luck). Plus when you learn to fish, the survival aspect of the game becomes super easy outside of zombies and players.
Hi mate another great video I was wondering if u could help me I have just started playing official servers and I played on a chernarus server then today I tried a Livonia official server and for some reason when I spawned in on the Livonia server I had all the stuff that I had on me on the chernarus server including the clothes and the guns etc do u know why that is mate? And is there a way to change it so I spawn as a total new fresh spawn because I want to try survive properly like everyone else and spawn with no gear if that makes sense mate thanks so much hopefully u can help. I call that game ethics. Lots of players play KOS. Others will be friendly if you don't have a gun in your hand. Some will be friendly until they decide you don't have a mike. No mike = dead.
Shotguns only register one pellet at a time in this new update with the bugs dont sweat that gun fight ive lost many on the new update not knowing they were bugged

I must say I am not digging my clothes degrading after only a few hits from zombies. Annoying asf.
I have only been playing for a few weeks but I have found that you can survive on fresh fruit and don't even need to bother with other food and water.
