Please make more walkthrough videos like this! A friend and I are just getting into the game and have only been playing for a few days, and these videos are really helpful. The hardest thing about the game for me is navigating the map and where to go to get the best loot, and also crafting. There are so many little details in the game that I would love to learn more about
Those "hardest thing"s will be your meat and potatoes once you get the hang of it. With some hard-won experience under your belt, you will be doing those things without really thinking about them. I figger I can do it in about 10 years of daily playing. (I'm old and can't remember my name sometimes, at least that is what my son, ol' Whats-his-name, tells me.)
One of the best ways to learn is to watch experience play and explain. And this right here is exact what you are doing, and I must say this one of the BEST videos I’ve ever seen. I just started playing yesterday. Yup I’m a late as hell newbie. But, I just got done playing about 3 hours without dying. The night time is where I get screwed.
Finding something to do while night passes is the best thing to try. Save meat for cooking, go fishing, organize your loot...etc Also, I appreciate the very kind words :)
Thanks, great videos man. Another thing is trying to get a feel as of where I’m at. I was actually at this exact town last night almost got the the exact load out as you too. I have IZurvive. But I still can’t get my bearings. Thanks.
As you pass landmarks and other recognizable features, check the map real quick. I'm told it's best if you have it on another monitor. Which for me would mean playing on Xbox and using PC monitor for the map. Not optimal for gameplay.@@Billo1281

This is one of the best How to Videos on Dayz. I started playing 2 weeks ago and in learning the map stage. So you actually showing the path and not cutting the looting helps alot, your verbal explanations are great help also.
I think watching the entire process is important for new players. Most guides that are similar usually just say "loot these POIs" but don't go over much else. So I thought a long form type of walk-through would be beneficial😁

ive got 100 hours, me and my buddy caught some dude with a full gear set and ak baiting low level players into the forest. we ended up crawling across an open field and tracked the player for 2 hours. caught him laying on the ground trying to bait more people. snuck up and got a shot gun to the back of his head. this is the stuff that makes me continue playing this game. lol ended up getting an ka-74 with 5 mags and 120 extra rounds to load. talk about worth
Can you in further vids show clips of where you are in your journey on the map? I just started playing very hard to keep up with your location and direction. But love your style brother.
I thought the same and so looked into it... found that Assault Vests don't offer any bullet/ballistic protection, they're just there to provide extra storage slots. So really you need to stick to one of these 3 for actual protection: Stab Vest, Ballistic (Press) Vest, or Plate Carrier Vest.
@@andytaylor1617 I keep getting conflicting answers on whether or not tactical vests offer any protection. Some sources say they're equivalent to stsb vests, others say they offer none at all.
Has my best run today in dayz. Got deep inland with high end gear and had vests the lot. Was prepping to bury stashes and the server rebooted and I lost everything. Then rebooted into a rainy night and got flu straight away.
Learning where to go requires tips from others and experience. I found learning the map was easier, for me, to not worry about dying so much and paying attention to what was around me a little farther out. I would jog along and every kilometer or so I would stop and make a couple of 360's looking at the terrain and structures in sight (making yourself a target is not always healthy). Getting killed just let me make the run again to see if I could remember where I was. Early on I preferred moving on the trails (named after colors) to the roads or the railroads for learning the lay of the land. Getting killed or just dying a lot taught me to get what I could get as fast as possible and get out of the spawn point. That took me much longer than a pro since I didn't know where to find what I needed and suffered from the Search Everywhere for Everything Disease. Once I decided I was safe enough I would go thru my inventory with a fine-tooth comb trying to learn what everything I picked up was and what it was good for or how it would benefit me if I kept it. Tossed a lot of good stuff along with junk but not near enough junk.
I only have 18 hours on day z but man the memories I made were awesome. I met this guy and he showed me the ropes on a high loot modded server. I remember when I first found a players base and I invited him to my party realy fast and made sure it wasn't his clan. It turns out it wasn't and I loaded up everything they had in their cargo truck and took off driving towards the hills. I set up my own base and lived there until I unfortunately met my demise in cherno. I kept trying to meet back up with my friend to get my loot but died and the server restarted so I lost everything.
Bro, those ultra modded servers are in direct conflict w/the entire vibe of the game, imo! A map/my location on it, are the only mods I think should be automatic, but keep spirit of the struggle to live in a treacherous new world! Sorry, but no fresh spawn w/less than DOUBLE DIGIT hrs played.....should be driving a cargo truck full of all the loot in the game back to ....his own base?! Misses the point and robs freshies from the rush of organic survival and discovery! Some will never get excited about finding a baby AK+mag after hours of barely surviving. They will complain when they don't have after searching for just 20 minutes and not leaving their spawn area! Alot will leave for the mods forever! That instant gratification robs them of a MUCH more immersive +challenging +fun , game experience than is possible when every weapon+item is basically handed to you! Just my 2cents ......keep the change!
Should always hit the west airfield before heading out. Gets you most of the mid tier gear. Sometimes makes going further pointless if you find a chopper wreck
Thanks for all the help man. I was lost in this game till I watched the vid before this. It seems real hard for me to find a bladed object so in turn hard for me to prepare any food i do find. I just can't wait till I know the map like you do bruh.
Downloaded DayZ on sale a week or so ago, Sub'd yesterday - your videos are invaluable, dude.. wish I'd known some of these tips in my first 10hrs! Cheers bro - London UK ❤🍻
Thanks for the quality content (as always). Do you think you were killed by a headshot? Maximum health damage in the game per shot is 150. Considering that you had a vest and bullet damage reduction by distance , that should have been 75 damage at max.
This is brilliant thanks for sharing, tough luck looked to be in a good place. Have played a few times as a absolute beginner and died bleeding out. First task find bandages and learn how to fight zombies.
This video was filmed at a time where shotguns were unsuable due to a broken bullet registration for their ammo types-- therefore I don't touch them. I'm very far from new lol
I just followed the hikers trails and stopped by places to loot along the way. Those maps at the rest spots are so fukin useful. Ive done nothing but follow the trails further inland. Although i only have a Mosin and a Kolt 45 im pretty new so i have no clue what weapons are optimal.
If I have the bagspace for it, I always take extra epi-pen, as soon as possible use it to boost across bad terrain like open fields with the 60 seconds stamina
In real life that happens (to lost folks mostly) because one leg is usually longer than the other so long steps are on one side of your body and short steps on the other. I'm talking small fractions of an inch in length difference. I grew up in the desert southwest USA and was warned about that to teach me to keep the house in sight if I wandered off. And if I wandered farther than Mom approved, I usually got spanked all the way home. Of course, I screamed all the way, but it really wasn't so bad cause she was preggers and if she let go of my hand, I could outrun her. But then, if I did that, she would tell Dad when he got home from work, and he could outrun me. I stopped being a runner before I started school.
Assault vests are just extra inventory. They offer no ballistic protection-- so I don't want to pick them up and over carry items just to switch the moment I find a stab, press, or plate.
I haven't been playing very long on dayz. I die quite often. It definitely sucks. But I'm still learning how to play. So.. I wish I could have better luck in the game. Always starving, or dieing of thirst, or infected killing me because I can't seem to find a weapon to defend myself from them. Very discouraging, but I keep trying.
Now that I know you can bury things and make shelters I’ve got a nice set up going on in a forest not far from a road. Found a nice circle sort of, of bushes and angled my shelter so it’s very hard to see if running by. Got some goodies buried around nearby incase anyone finds and kills me I will just go back there and get kitted (granted I find a shovel or pickaxe/farming hoe). Working up the courage to hit an airfield one of these days lol.
@@bwad99 yea man. I remember you saying that in one of your streams. I ran into a base the other day in kehlm. Just had a door and a bunch of posts in place. I thought about dismantling the big door but then was like nah it probably took alot of hours to get to that point lol
@@bwad99 I have a guy going on a community server which isn’t super OP with the loot but I have to have like at least 50hrs with him (is there a way to check how long you’ve been surviving for?) but I don’t know how to build walls and bases yet. That is one of the things I find so frustrating in this game. You spend so much time & effort, only to be killed with no interaction. Wouldn't be so bad if you could create a save point so you don't start with nothing again..

Thanks dude!
ive got 100 hours, me and my buddy caught some dude with a full gear set and ak baiting low level players into the forest. we ended up crawling across an open field and tracked the player for 2 hours. caught him laying on the ground trying to bait more people. snuck up and got a shot gun to the back of his head. this is the stuff that makes me continue playing this game. lol ended up getting an ka-74 with 5 mags and 120 extra rounds to load. talk about worth
I learned alot from you hooe you continue this
Wow what a good video, and the way it ended damn. That’s DAYZ for ya
Yup. Classic DayZ! Happy to help :)
Mans talking about getting a gun cleaning kit for his scorpion and I'm still trying to break big sticks into small sticks 😂😂😂😂😂
Great guide for beginners really helped me out, liked and subbed keep it up
Thanks! Happy to help out.
Can you in further vids show clips of where you are in your journey on the map? I just started playing very hard to keep up with your location and direction. But love your style brother.
Keep up the good work Billy boy.
Thanks dude!
Love your videos and content mate, such a huge help to all new players out there like me 🤙👍
Nice. Happy to help dude!
Love these videos and the way it ended. That's the game in a nutshell.
Absolutely is. Not what I imagined happened, but it's such a dayz ending🤣
awesome guide, a lot of details I've learned from it, can't wait for upper indermediate class
Thanks🤠 working on 2 or 3 other tip vids/guides and then I plan on working my way up north to record a part 3😁
@@bwad99perfect! I usually get past the point where I feel comfy with my guns and loot and then I die in the first gunfight :/
OMG THE ENDING. I feel represented.
Great advice, Great vid, Thank you)
I like this tipe of videos so much, quality content!
Thanks dude🤠😁
I know im like a year late, but i was wondering why you didn't loot those assault vests off of those zombies in the first military area you looted
@@owenhall4028 Hmm interesting. It may have changed in a recent update, but according to the DayZ Wiki it's still just the 3 vests mentioned.
really like the chill videos
Has my best run today in dayz. Got deep inland with high end gear and had vests the lot. Was prepping to bury stashes and the server rebooted and I lost everything. Then rebooted into a rainy night and got flu straight away.
“Not good with cardinal directions” - Also scoffs at a compass spawn. 😂
because I don't need it
Another great video dude. Keep up the grind
Appreciate you Cruise!
Just started playing this game recently, vids really help, but the main thing I’m struggling with is knowing where to go/ learning the map.
It just takes time and experience on the map to learn it really.
Kinda surprised you didn't pull one of the chest rigs off the military zombies
Agree. I am not into mods. When I play a game I want the vanilla the creators made, not what some yahoo did to "improve" the game.@@JohnnyRingo3645
Great content. Really like your videos. What time do you usually stream.
The goal is to stream all week 11am to 5ish pm😁
That's y I always miss them. Ok. Ty
@@joedudderduke things change though. That's just what works for me now, but I will do some weekend streams and team ups with other creators. 😁
Should always hit the west airfield before heading out. Gets you most of the mid tier gear. Sometimes makes going further pointless if you find a chopper wreck
Balota is alright. Not going to find heli crashes there on vanilla, but it has a decent amount of military spawns for sure.
The sun for navigation works if you know what time it is. Also if it is cloudy, objects still produce shadows
Thanks for all the help man. I was lost in this game till I watched the vid before this. It seems real hard for me to find a bladed object so in turn hard for me to prepare any food i do find. I just can't wait till I know the map like you do bruh.
Just start days over the weekend first few plays I kelp dying in the woods lost with no food 😅
Downloaded DayZ on sale a week or so ago, Sub'd yesterday - your videos are invaluable, dude.. wish I'd known some of these tips in my first 10hrs!
Cheers bro - London UK ❤🍻
So happy to help dude! Cheers 🍻🍻🍻
Great vid! Where can I find the first part! As a total beginner I’m missing the first hour to survive 😝
Watching this is the opposite of anxiety.
Good stuff, ty
Thanks for the quality content (as always). Do you think you were killed by a headshot? Maximum health damage in the game per shot is 150. Considering that you had a vest and bullet damage reduction by distance , that should have been 75 damage at max.
Yeah was probably a lucky headshot or something 🙃
This is brilliant thanks for sharing, tough luck looked to be in a good place. Have played a few times as a absolute beginner and died bleeding out. First task find bandages and learn how to fight zombies.
Thank you !!!
A tip u should always check the shotguns in the pd for ammo and u look pretty new to the game
This video was filmed at a time where shotguns were unsuable due to a broken bullet registration for their ammo types-- therefore I don't touch them.
I'm very far from new lol
Is there a location guide for inland towns? @bwad99
I just followed the hikers trails and stopped by places to loot along the way. Those maps at the rest spots are so fukin useful. Ive done nothing but follow the trails further inland. Although i only have a Mosin and a Kolt 45 im pretty new so i have no clue what weapons are optimal.
basically you need long range weapon and close range weapon.
A compass is actually really usefull to new players who don't know the map
Obviously yes lol. That's why those tools exist in the game.
Oh yeah I saw later in the video you brought it up, my bad
If I have the bagspace for it, I always take extra epi-pen, as soon as possible use it to boost across bad terrain like open fields with the 60 seconds stamina
I take it for emergency flabks or to escape bad cover in a gunfight or something
What's flabks ? That's a new one on me. @@bwad99
I swear one of my biggest problems is I some how always end up going in a damn circle lol.
Don't worry dude, sometimes I do the sammmmme thing🤣
What I gathered from this video is this game is all about collecting gear for other people.
i'm thinking the shot you heard was just a decoy shot to draw people over to his sniper location.
Very possible!
at the start when you entered the military tents you killed a zombie with an assault vest i wonder why you didnt pick it up
Assault vests are just extra inventory. They offer no ballistic protection-- so I don't want to pick them up and over carry items just to switch the moment I find a stab, press, or plate.
Ain’t no way boy said he found the Ronald McDonald 7’s I’m dead
"Ronald McDonald 7's" ? Must be a generational thing.
3 hours in and still couldn't find a bottle or something to carry water. This was on x4 loot server. I can imagine in a official server.
Do you happen to stream these beginner or solo ventures on some platform? Would love to see
They really should of let you be able to craft a simple bow with rope and a stick. Would of made the game much more engaging early levels.
Funny. I’m on a 20 hour life and I literally ran the exact same loot route you did… be careful in Stary. Killed 2 peeps over there :)
Said this before I saw your outcome lol.. subscribed..
66hrs in made it to a military zone and a toxic zone gets killed on site by a person I never saw
Great vid as always! does the stab vest gives you protection against bullets? i thought it is only good for knifes.
Stab vest has similar ballistic protection to the Press vest. Both protect from bullets!😁
Great content, have my subscribe :)
Thanks dude😁🤠
U mostly won't find a clip until u go to a ruined town or military base or maybe a police station or find by chance
When it comes to dying often, don't feel lonesome. Me and dying of starvation, thirst or infected are ol' buddies of mine.
Nice dude! I'm not a loot stasher personally, but if i was I would make shelters/crates to bury vs building a base!
@@bwad99 yea man. I remember you saying that in one of your streams. I ran into a base the other day in kehlm. Just had a door and a bunch of posts in place. I thought about dismantling the big door but then was like nah it probably took alot of hours to get to that point lol
@@LJT9393 😂 yeah takes hours to put together a gate and some walls and way too easy to break down. Not worth the time imo😂
@@bwad99 I have a guy going on a community server which isn’t super OP with the loot but I have to have like at least 50hrs with him (is there a way to check how long you’ve been surviving for?) but I don’t know how to build walls and bases yet. Or even fix up a car. I’m just still kind of learning the game.
@@LJT9393 unfortunately there's no way to check your survival time. Gotta track it yourself. As far as basebuilding I recommend looking up a guide, it's a bit too complicated for me to write out in a comment😂
That is one of the things I find so frustrating in this game. You spend so much time & effort, only to be killed with no interaction. Wouldn't be so bad if you could create a save point so you don't start with nothing again..
I see people at the radio towers all the time on official. Wonder if it’s because I play on AU servers.
I was discussing with my friend weather or not I should take a cow boy hat over my ballistic helmet and as soon as I went outside I got shot in the head the helmet saved my life and I killed the guy who shot me
GGs dude lol. For me, it's fashion over function-- and if someone headshots me it's GGs to them. They probably deserved to win the fight
Defently gained a sub hope you see you in the wasteland one day
I shut the doors behind me. After I loot.. helps cover my tail
After watching this video, I realized I am one greedy prick lol. I will work on this obsession about picking up every single Duck-Tape and Xmas-Lights I come across.
The game becomes a lot more fun when you start to care less about your loot. For me, it's all about interaction and adventure.
