- This quick and easy guide shows you how to mod Skyrim VR, turning it into a vastly improved experience and a proper VR game. The tutorial covers the basics and how to install the main two mods you need to elevate this game into one of the best VR games on the market. Nexusmods and Vortex make the process easy peasy on Quest 2 and Quest 3.
I play this on Oculus Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop, and it's an adventure unlike anything else. With the Higgs mod that came out this year (2021), Skyrim VR has struck a HUGE chord with my VR smitten heart. The new best game on Oculus Quest 2? Well, getting there!

Great tutorial
except he wrongly said we "have to run the game with the desktop icon we created" when you had swapped the icon and we do not need to do that at all.
But jit is fucking sonic i had to reset the WHOLE vid to watch one part. I surprised it is not 4 seconds long.

Hey dude, question but do i need to put the mods out of the file and put them just into the SkyrimVR file with the game in it?
Just want to say, I'm only half way through this video and this is amazing.
There's no fluff. It's clear, easy to understand and follow, it's short and quick, made so simple. Other tutorials make a big deal out of it all and it seems so much more complex.

I've modded Skyrim both normal and VR versions for years now so obviously this video is not directed to me, but I just wanted to tell you I really appreciate this quick no bs tutorial. Modding is something that can improve the player experience MASSIVELY but it can sound like such a daunting task but honestly it's not, and you displayed it here very well. Good job.

@@tusker_c3861 im actually having some trouble towards the begining of the video i have vortex installed and when i hit manage for skyrim vr it pops up that i need to install the script extender but when i click to do that it opens on my browser and even if i do download it it doesnt show up on vortex so if someone could help with that it would be much appreciated

Thank you so much for this. I tried modding Skyrim VR before, but could never figure out how to get it to work.
When I tried to install it just said "installation failed"
Edit: You have to make sure the "Vortex Mods" folder is in the same drive as the game. My Skyrim was in my D: drive, but Vortex was not. Under general, click the settings button. Once you are in settings click the button named "mods". I would recommend clicking "suggest", which puts the Vortex folder in the correct drive for you. Next instead of clicking "Open in vortex" you open in browser. Download the same file and put it in the Vortex downloads folder. To find this folder go back to the settings, click "download". Once you put the file in the Vortex downloads folder, go to the "Mods" menu on the left and find the extender file. There should be a blue button that says "Never installed". You are going to want to click that. The rest is the same as the video. I'm pretty sure if you just install vortex in the same drive that Skyrim VR is in, in the first place none of this should be an issue.

even after all this the shortcut he had us make wont run, when i open it just says "cant find skyrimvr.exe

An absolutely phenominal tutorial, couldn't have been more straight forwards. I ran into an issue when assigning the folder for sksevr, it didn't install the needed files into my Skyrim directory. A quick uninstall and reinstall of the Vortex mod loading system fixed that issue for me. I was up and running in SkyrimVR in about twenty minutes. Now I'm off to install 50GB of mods and hope to break the game in a couple hours. Best tutorial ever!

I have the same problem as crazystreeta, when I launch the script extender it says it cant find SkyrimVR.exe. Did they update it so you have to launch it differently? But thank you otherwise your tutorial has been really helpful.

You have to launch the game first before you can mod it.

sksevr_loader didn't show for me so instead, i just typed it into my file explorer and eventually the application showed itself. Takes so long to load but it gets to you eventually
