My Skyrim Script Extender shortcut in vortex doesn't load the game with mods only skse. I've tried doing the desktop shortcut as well and I've installed the current version of everything.
@@TheCangar It's all the base vortex settings the mods were deployed and it said "Launch Skyrim VR with 9 mods installed." It would load skse but no mods, I did end up getting it to work though somehow. Thanks for the help anyway!
@@palmerwoolworth4250 @Cangar If you have issues, try to load directly from the skse.exe file that if done through this same process, even if installed via vortex, will be in the skyrim vr folder along with skyrim.exe file, worked for me after i got error message from loading skyrimvr from vortex dashboard, hope this helps because I was lost until i found this video, and then an error in load screen and then issues brought up to 'Odie" the skse developer saying the .pex files were likely not in the right place and to look in the whole r/skryimvr for the answer, but i saved you the trouble! - so HOPE this helps!
Hey can you help me making SKSE working on MO 2 pls?! Like i did like you said but the game tells me that SKSE is not running and from what i see it wont appear esp/esm files or how you call it. Just wanted to say thanks. I haven't done Skyrim VR in a few years and I'm eager to get back into it. But I'm very intimidated by getting everything setup. I have ADD and get frustrated easily if I'm not in a good focused headspace for getting things setup. (I may have absentmindedly tabbed away from this very video and had to rewatch what I missed 😅) Anyway! Thank you and the rest of the community for making maps and building paths from flatscreen to a true SkyrimVR experience. My hats off to you and all involved.
OMG thank you. I figured out how to manually install SKSE through their video, but every set of instructions for SkyUI was "Use you're mod manager". While it is so simple now that I have been shown what that means it was impossible before. Imagine baking a cake but it tells you to sift your flour, but you've only used cake mix before. You don't know what that means, but once you do it's super simple.
Hello Mr. Cangar, thank you for the lovely video. It was quite soothing and nice. Loved the soft spoken step by step calm nature of it. The only snag I hit was right at the end.. The VRIK. If anyone sees all the folders separated, please dont freak out.. look up up at the upper right for a download arrow pointing down. just click download and will give you everything as a zip file that you can then put in a go to folder of your choice. When you work all day and are tired and fuzzy brained.. setting up a game like skyrm almost feels like punishment haha. TY for the lovely videos.
I did this all in order and correctly, but now it says my version is running on 0.0.0 although through console it clearly states it is running latest SKSE and SkyUI in the back through Vortex.
@cangar I installed skse on vortex but it doesn’t give me an option to run through skse. It says Skyrim Script extender with an exe icon to the left of it. It has the 3 dot icon but that’s it. How do I fix?
Best is to go to the skyrim base folder, find the skse_launcher, make a shortcut of that launcher (don't just copy it! Right click, make shortcut), and out that shortcut on the desktop
Go to dashboard on vortex, where the script extender icon is, click the 3 dot icon and hit "make primary." It should be primary by default in vortex, if you try and run skyrim from the normal .exe file you'll see an error right when you start it. the desktop shortcut works too
Whenever I boot up sksevr, it says that SkyUI needs skse to run. How do I fix this and get it to recognize that I'm using sksevr? I'm using SkyUI v1.0 beta 4.7 and sksevr 2.0.12
I have searched and searched for someone to EXPLICITLY show every step of the process, from signing into the oculus app to starting and playing a modded game. These steps are not found anywhere online and a video showing these exact steps would get many views.

You might not see this but when I download the file and extract with 7zip I get the files on 7zip but they don’t show up in my downloads, so I can’t 7zip the data folder due to it not being in my downloads
I got to the SKSE step, but I am not having any luck with the "deploy" dialogue box. There is no option for me to deploy the mod, and I cannot click the .exe script extender from the dashboard. Any suggestions?

@@davidczerepinski7436 Are you using the Steam version if so SteamVR is causing your problem. You won't find anyone ever mention this and I only ever found one guy mention it on a 2yro post but you need to edit some things in your install directory. *\steamapps\common\SkyrimVR\Data\SKSE\skse.ini You need to edit the skse.ini for the runtime, mine used to say that same thing "skse wasnt running or didnt exist" too until i did this. 1) Create an "SKSE" folder in /DATA/ if not present, inside there create a notepad file.
2) Edit the notepad file and add the following to it: [Loader] RuntimeName=TESVVR.exe ("TESVVR.exe is optional it can be whatever you want it to be called this only matters for step #4.) 3) Save the file as skse.ini and make sure that doing so you have (all file types) selected so that it changes it into a .ini configuration file inside the SKSE folder. 4) Rename the SkyrimVR.exe to TESVVR.exe (or whatever you personally used for Step #2 on the runtimename= line inside the .ini file. 5) Rename sksevr_loader.exe to SkyrimVR.exe 6) launch Skyrim through the Vortex as you normally would. 7) [Optional] sometimes SteamVR still won't launch so remove the "Launch as admin" parameter from your skse_loader.exe file that should now be called SkyrimVR.exe. I did these and now skse works flawlessly on my pc. Hope this helps and enjoy.
For anyone that doesnt really know what they're doing with modding skyrim vr, FOLLOW THIS GUIDE RIGHT HERE. I tried to use mod manager and that got too confusing, vortex makes it simple and easy, no more errors and this guy is a legend.
Oh Mod Manager is HARDER? I thought Vortex would be harder. I wish it was _all_ easier, I can build, animate and program any world and gameplay in Unreal Engine , but this stuff makes me tear my hair out.
got a questioin, Im doing the shortcut for the SKSE loader, but everytime i open it it says "skyrimVR.exe. is not found" I have skyrim VR downloaded so idk why its saying that
My downloads are all going to wrong folders, there is a seperate skyrim vr folder that vortex installs them to that does not work. How do I install them to my actual skyrim vr folder?
For those who cannot find out how to get Vortex to automatically to install SKSEVR via the notification bell, this comment is good for you. Click on Extensions, type in "script" in the mod name search bar, and click on "enable" for "Script Extender Installer." The author is "Pickysaurus." Follow the video for the rest. Hey dude i accidently deleted the file from VR extended thingy to download. It says i still have it but when i open it its just empty folder. Sadly i don't have that pop-up message anymore after i downloaded it. Should i follow ur manual instructions to fix this problem?
how do you put skyui in mod organizer 2. as when I try to copy the way you show it come up with ! in a red tringel. saying there no data folder and I can't find it.
My skyui keeps giving me an eeror code 1 saying my SKSE isnt working right. Can someone help me with this? It doesnt crash but it doesnt allow other modes like higgs mage VR or sky UI to work.
Hello everyone. My issue is in vortex, I don't see SKSE VR in the plugins list. Only shows in mods list. When I start Skyrim VR, I get an error stating that SkyUI can't run without SKSE VR or something along those lines. Any advice?
SKSE is not a plugin, and you always need to launch the game via the skse_launcher. I recommend using the new FUS wabbajack automatic mod list installer: github.com/Kvitekvist/FUS
Strangely, I tried doing this using the vortex method and it continues to tell me that SKSE isn't installed... would installing it manually make a difference?
Vortex had an update that now does not recognize it anymore. You can try starting the game and see if it works. Remember that skyui vr now requires papyrus utils as per my pinned post!
Thanks for the video. While I managed to get through this there are areas where you move quite quickly without specifying what to do and more importantly what not to do.
In that case you need to install it manually I think. It might be that MO2 has other options but it should be fairly straightforward. Just unzip and move to the skyrim folder.
however now i've tested the automatic installation i cant actually find the skseVRR launcher in my folder or dashboard, im thinking that i still have deployment issues i dont know the solution to yet solved: when installing skyrim VR you might have to move your staging folder for vortex to the same drive as the staging folder for your games. this allowed me to deploy everything.
Can someone help me? I've tried nearly everything and no matter what it gives me error code 1 for SkyUiVR on startup and I can't do anything about it because every tutorial is either outdated our non functional.
I recommend you ditch your current install and switch to an automated wabbajack list, like the FUS list (which is the one I made): github.com/Kvitekvist/FUS

Is it necessary to zip the data folder and install via vortex? the skse site says simply to copy the .pex files over to the install location. I installed sksevr just like I did skse64 and my SkyUI lags when I loots still.
Vortex can install SKSE completely as you can see latdr in the video. SKSE64 is not necessary or helpful for VR. Only install the vr version and ignore the error message by vortex
Could be. But you can still drag and drop it in :) also if you're at the start, consider using a wabbajack instead, eg our own list FUS is made to be very beginner friendly, easy to use, and vanilla-plus: github.com/Kvitekvist/FUS
I don't understand your issue. It is not supposed to open from steamVR, it is supposed to open from the skse_launcher. If you deployed everything correctly and launch the game via the skse_launcher, I guarantee it works. You can also try our automatic wabbajack installation list: github.com/Kvitekvist/FUS
i did exactley as you say in the video but sksver will not work. when i run the game it comes up and says sksvr isnt running so skyui wont work. i move the 5 files over into the game folder. i instal the data through nexus like you show in the video. i deploy and enable but still wont work. please help Done some trial end error and got sksevr working. Every time i deploy SkyUI it stops SKSEVR working. Sksevr works fine and all other mods work also but as soon as i deploy SkyUI everything stops working. Im downloading the SkyUI from the link in description. Any help?

I'm using Winrar and whenever I install skyui, my file doesn't look like yours and whenever I try to drag it into vortex, it says that the file does not exist. Do you know what could be causing this problem and should I be using something other than winrar to install these files. I'm very new to modding so any help is appreciated.
If you use vortex you do not need to extract the file at all, just drop it into vortex. Also if you want to save time I strongly suggest you check out wabbajack auto-mod instsllation, I made a modular list including all vr mods and fixes, FUS: github.com/Kvitekvist/FUS
That's a broken mod most likely. Always test mods one by one if they are risky. You can also set benableplayroom to 0 in the ini if you haven't yet, for some mods that fixes it
Vortex 1.8.5 doesn't seem to have an option to Open in Vortex. Is it safe to just drag the downloaded SKSE zip file into Vortex, or do I need to do the full manual install?
none of the methods are working for me, it either tells me permission bs or the skse folders just disappear from my skyrim folder and says its a bad file. or i think it is all downloaded right and then no mods work at all. why isnt this easy
I have tried to get sky UI to work and it says SKSEVR isn't installed/running despite it being so. I know that it now requires VRTools to work but it won't work despite those things being the only thing I have Installed
Doesn't work for me. Get "REL/Relocation.h(458): Failed to obtain module handle! SkyrimSE.exe has been renamed (please don't rename skse64_loader.exe to SkyrimSE.exe), or you're attempting to run this on the VR version". I am attempting to run it on the VR version... I downloaded the right version, though. I did it both with Vortex for VR and manually. Then I tried doing it again with the previous version 2.0.11, same result. Don't know what to do. Been troubleshooting too long with no results.
I am new to gaming. I bought and built a computer, Pimax 8KX VR, base stations, hand controllers and have not been able to play yet. On Skyrim VR I get to the point of naming my character and the controllers are no longer useable in game. (90º off to the left on screen). Do you have any recommendations for me to proceed and set it up so I can play? Thanks.
The skript extender didn't load for me. What worked for me: had to copy ALL the files from the extracted downlaods folder into the gamefolder. Then I told my Mod manager to start "sksevr_loader.exe" instead of the normal one. Only this worked for me.
if you are using mo2 that is indeed the way to do it. you can zip the parts that go into the data folder though and add them into mo2, but you will always have to start the game via the skse launcher
I know this is quite an old video but do you know if I need to download anything different for the Vive Cosmos for the VRIK keybinds as I had to download community bindings as Skyrim doesnt map the controls for the Vive

I strongly strongly recommend using an organizer. For a start you can also use our automated wabbajack mod list FUS (github.com/Kvitekvist/FUS) it comes with the most relevant mods pre-installed :)
What am I supposed to do about the Mod staging? I have tried over and over relaunching, and tweaking and whatever instructions I try to follow no mods are enabled when Skyrim vr is launched Also, the mod staging thing doesn't seem to do anything. Suggesting or applying things there it always says mods aren't deployed or whatever. All steps I follow seem to do nothing and I am at my limit
If you run the game from the normal steam launcher youll get that error message. Run skyrim from sksevr.exe in your skyrimvr steam folder. If you launch the game from vortex it should just run the skse launcher by default
@@zeal8467 I was running it from vortex. I have figured it out now, it turns out the scripts weren't getting transferred correctly only the exe and .dll
the skyui wont download right, no matter what i do when i launch skyrim i get an error message as soon as i load in. so i cant do that or the cheat menu i installed since cheat room isnt on vr
Can you give a brief description of what happens after clicking on SKSEVR loader and until game fully starting and ready on screen? (e.g. wagon ride starting) I installed SKSEVR and SKYUI as per the instructions on Vortex and installs seem fine. When I launch SKSEVR loader, it seems to take me to the Steam VR room where it sits there. So after waiting a while, I pull up the SteamVR menua and Skyrim VR is there so I click to start game which then goes to intro with error SKYUI can't load as SKSEVR not loaded. Do I need to take this step of starting up Skyrim VR on the Steam VR dashboard or should it automatically start the Skyrim VR game after you click SKSEVR loader and I should skip the Steam VR dashboard menu. The skse_launcher should launch skyrim right away. If it doesn't, it is maybe the wrong launcher or not correctly installed. You need to have steamVR open though and your controllers need to be switched on

I have been trying to install/reinstall for 2 days to get this to work but the simple solution was what you pointed out...you need to have SteamVR open then click SKSEVR launcher. My mistake was assuming the launcher started all the required software including Steam VR. Cheers

Best is to go to the skyrim base folder, find the skse_launcher, make a shortcut of that launcher (don't just copy it! Right click, make shortcut), and out that shortcut on the desktop

Go to dashboard on vortex, where the script extender icon is, click the 3 dot icon and hit "make primary." It should be primary by default in vortex, if you try and run skyrim from the normal .exe file you'll see an error right when you start it. the desktop shortcut works too

Whenever I boot up sksevr, it says that SkyUI needs skse to run. How do I fix this and get it to recognize that I'm using sksevr? I'm using SkyUI v1.0 beta 4.7 and sksevr 2.0.12
I have searched and searched for someone to EXPLICITLY show every step of the process, from signing into the oculus app to starting and playing a modded game. These steps are not found anywhere online and a video showing these exact steps would get many views.

You might not see this but when I download the file and extract with 7zip I get the files on 7zip but they don’t show up in my downloads, so I can’t 7zip the data folder due to it not being in my downloads

I got to the SKSE step, but I am not having any luck with the "deploy" dialogue box. There is no option for me to deploy the mod, and I cannot click the .exe script extender from the dashboard. Any suggestions?
You can deploy without the dialog box, the button is further to the left.

@@davidczerepinski7436 Are you using the Steam version if so SteamVR is causing your problem. You won't find anyone ever mention this and I only ever found one guy mention it on a 2yro post but you need to edit some things in your install directory.
*\steamapps\common\SkyrimVR\Data\SKSE\skse.ini
You need to edit the skse.ini for the runtime, mine used to say that same thing "skse wasnt running or didnt exist" too until i did this.
1) Create an "SKSE" folder in /DATA/ if not present, inside there create a notepad file.
2) Edit the notepad file and add the following to it:
[Loader]
RuntimeName=TESVVR.exe
("TESVVR.exe is optional it can be whatever you want it to be called this only matters for step #4.)
3) Save the file as skse.ini and make sure that doing so you have (all file types) selected so that it changes it into a .ini configuration file inside the SKSE folder.
4) Rename the SkyrimVR.exe to TESVVR.exe (or whatever you personally used for Step #2 on the runtimename= line inside the .ini file.
5) Rename sksevr_loader.exe to SkyrimVR.exe
6) launch Skyrim through the Vortex as you normally would.
7) [Optional] sometimes SteamVR still won't launch so remove the "Launch as admin" parameter from your skse_loader.exe file that should now be called SkyrimVR.exe.
I did these and now skse works flawlessly on my pc. Hope this helps and enjoy.

For anyone that doesnt really know what they're doing with modding skyrim vr, FOLLOW THIS GUIDE RIGHT HERE. I tried to use mod manager and that got too confusing, vortex makes it simple and easy, no more errors and this guy is a legend.
Oh Mod Manager is HARDER? I thought Vortex would be harder. I wish it was _all_ easier, I can build, animate and program any world and gameplay in Unreal Engine , but this stuff makes me tear my hair out.

you should probably rewatch the vortex guides. in the settings you should be able to select your folders

For those who cannot find out how to get Vortex to automatically to install SKSEVR via the notification bell, this comment is good for you.
Click on Extensions, type in "script" in the mod name search bar, and click on "enable" for "Script Extender Installer." The author is "Pickysaurus." Follow the video for the rest. You should get a notification just like the one in the video right after you enable it.

Hey dude i accidently deleted the file from VR extended thingy to download. It says i still have it but when i open it its just empty folder. Sadly i don't have that pop-up message anymore after i downloaded it. Should i follow ur manual instructions to fix this problem?

Then you probably downloaded the wrong file or you might have unzipped it (which you shouldn't, Vortex does it for you)

how do you put skyui in mod organizer 2. as when I try to copy the way you show it come up with ! in a red tringel. saying there no data folder and I can't find it.
My skyui keeps giving me an eeror code 1 saying my SKSE isnt working right. Can someone help me with this? It doesnt crash but it doesnt allow other modes like higgs mage VR or sky UI to work.

Hello everyone. My issue is in vortex, I don't see SKSE VR in the plugins list. Only shows in mods list. When I start Skyrim VR, I get an error stating that SkyUI can't run without SKSE VR or something along those lines.
Any advice?
SKSE is not a plugin, and you always need to launch the game via the skse_launcher.

Vortex had an update that now does not recognize it anymore. You can try starting the game and see if it works. Remember that skyui vr now requires papyrus utils as per my pinned post!

Why is it when I 7zip the data folder, it comes out to 10 gigs as opposed to your 78 kb?
and how do you install sky ui vr if you use MO2? the "install from file" option does not work as the file is packaged incorrectly.
In that case you need to install it manually I think. It might be that MO2 has other options but it should be fairly straightforward. Just unzip and move to the skyrim folder.

If you mean the error message in vortex, ignore it. It does not recognize SKSE VR. Try just starting :)

solved: when installing skyrim VR you might have to move your staging folder for vortex to the same drive as the staging folder for your games. this allowed me to deploy everything.

I did this and now every time I launch it opens windows command Center for a second. Is this normal? It asks for permission and I usually grant it.
Can someone help me? I've tried nearly everything and no matter what it gives me error code 1 for SkyUiVR on startup and I can't do anything about it because every tutorial is either outdated our non functional.

Is it necessary to zip the data folder and install via vortex? the skse site says simply to copy the .pex files over to the install location. I installed sksevr just like I did skse64 and my SkyUI lags when I loots still.
Vortex can install SKSE completely as you can see latdr in the video. SKSE64 is not necessary or helpful for VR. Only install the vr version and ignore the error message by vortex

For SKSE when you say "just copy them into your game folder" are you talking about the SkyrimVR folder in the steamapps folder?

I don't understand your issue. It is not supposed to open from steamVR, it is supposed to open from the skse_launcher. If you deployed everything correctly and launch the game via the skse_launcher, I guarantee it works.

i did exactley as you say in the video but sksver will not work. when i run the game it comes up and says sksvr isnt running so skyui wont work. i move the 5 files over into the game folder. i instal the data through nexus like you show in the video. i deploy and enable but still wont work. please help
Done some trial end error and got sksevr working. Every time i deploy SkyUI it stops SKSEVR working. Sksevr works fine and all other mods work also but as soon as i deploy SkyUI everything stops working. Im downloading the SkyUI from the link in description. Any help?

I'm using Winrar and whenever I install skyui, my file doesn't look like yours and whenever I try to drag it into vortex, it says that the file does not exist. Do you know what could be causing this problem and should I be using something other than winrar to install these files. I'm very new to modding so any help is appreciated.
If you use vortex you do not need to extract the file at all, just drop it into vortex.

That's a broken mod most likely. Always test mods one by one if they are risky. You can also set benableplayroom to 0 in the ini if you haven't yet, for some mods that fixes it
Vortex 1.8.5 doesn't seem to have an option to Open in Vortex. Is it safe to just drag the downloaded SKSE zip file into Vortex, or do I need to do the full manual install?

I have tried to get sky UI to work and it says SKSEVR isn't installed/running despite it being so. I know that it now requires VRTools to work but it won't work despite those things being the only thing I have Installed

I am attempting to run it on the VR version... I downloaded the right version, though. I did it both with Vortex for VR and manually. Then I tried doing it again with the previous version 2.0.11, same result. Don't know what to do. Been troubleshooting too long with no results.

I am new to gaming. I bought and built a computer, Pimax 8KX VR, base stations, hand controllers and have not been able to play yet. On Skyrim VR I get to the point of naming my character and the controllers are no longer useable in game. (90º off to the left on screen). The skript extender didn't load for me. What worked for me: had to copy ALL the files from the extracted downlaods folder into the gamefolder. Then I told my Mod manager to start "sksevr_loader.exe" instead of the normal one. Only this worked for me.
if you are using mo2 that is indeed the way to do it. you can zip the parts that go into the data folder though and add them into mo2, but you will always have to start the game via the skse launcher
I know this is quite an old video but do you know if I need to download anything different for the Vive Cosmos for the VRIK keybinds as I had to download community bindings as Skyrim doesnt map the controls for the Vive

You can't mix vortex and MO2. Try starting with a small list just containing the mods from this vid
Do you need a mod organizer? You can't just put the data folder in the game files? if so what folder do you put the data folder in manually?
I strongly strongly recommend using an organizer. For a start you can also use our automated wabbajack mod list FUS (github.com/Kvitekvist/FUS) it comes with the most relevant mods pre-installed :)
What am I supposed to do about the Mod staging?
I have tried over and over relaunching, and tweaking and whatever instructions I try to follow no mods are enabled when Skyrim vr is launched
Also, the mod staging thing doesn't seem to do anything. Suggesting or applying things there it always says mods aren't deployed or whatever.

If you run the game from the normal steam launcher youll get that error message. Run skyrim from sksevr.exe in your skyrimvr steam folder. If you launch the game from vortex it should just run the skse launcher by default

I have figured it out now, it turns out the scripts weren't getting transferred correctly only the exe and .dll

the skyui wont download right, no matter what i do when i launch skyrim i get an error message as soon as i load in. so i cant do that or the cheat menu i installed since cheat room isnt on vr
Did you start via the skse_launcher? What do you mean by won't download right? Does vortex give you an error? What do you mean by cheat menu?
Can you give a brief description of what happens after clicking on SKSEVR loader and until game fully starting and ready on screen? (e.g. wagon ride starting)
I installed SKSEVR and SKYUI as per the instructions on Vortex and installs seem fine. When I launch SKSEVR loader, it seems to take me to the Steam VR room where it sits there. So after waiting a while, I pull up the SteamVR menua and Skyrim VR is there so I click to start game which then goes to intro with error SKYUI can't load as SKSEVR not loaded.
Do I need to take this step of starting up Skyrim VR on the Steam VR dashboard or should it automatically start the Skyrim VR game after you click SKSEVR loader and I should skip the Steam VR dashboard menu.

The skse_launcher should launch skyrim right away. If it doesn't, it is maybe the wrong launcher or not correctly installed. You need to have steamVR open though and your controllers need to be switched on

I have been trying to install/reinstall for 2 days to get this to work but the simple solution was what you pointed out...you need to have SteamVR open then click SKSEVR launcher. My mistake was assuming the launcher started all the required software including Steam VR. Cheers
The joysticks and a few other buttons don’t work on my valve index controllers, is there a way to fix this
They definitely work. Did you read the Vrik controller scheme on the mod page? Did you install this file? Did you enable the mapping inside steamVR?
My Skyrim Script Extender shortcut in vortex doesn't load the game with mods only skse. I've tried doing the desktop shortcut as well and I've installed the current version of everything.
SkyUI-VR requires Skyrim VR Tools as well now since 1.2.0. I suggest adding that to the description as well.
