Your opening comment is so, so relevant to today's world too. Sometimes the line must be drawn. Sometimes we have to take a stand against Evil, even if it hurts.
I love this channel - not only due to insights and subject, but it is one of the few channel that doesn't deal with petty daily politics; just timeless wisdom!
🤔. Let me start off by saying, I'm not Catholic, but I'm interested in learning more. I have been watching your videos for a few months, and I have learned much about having fellowship with God through your videos. I have even learned how to pray! As weird as this may sound, I feel a change in my heart and mind- in a good way though. I have been studying about the Catholic Church for several months, and I'm interested in learning more. I wasn't sure what video of yours to comment under because I have watched several of them.
Susie, I'd say for that comment, any video is fine. The best way to learn about the Catholic Church is to find one near you, go, and maybe even talk with a priest there. If you aren't comfortable doing that just yet, Father Schmitz videos aren't the worst place to start. Another avenue of study is the Catechism (the teachings of the Church), which you can find online. There are a lot of people who think they know what the Catholic Church believes and teaches (both inside the Church and out). When you read the Catechism, you'll know you're getting the real teachings.
Hi, Susie, for more good information about Catholicism, look at the UA-cam videos/channel of Catholic Answers. They have expert apologists who deeply know the faith, including the Catechism and scripture. I’m an adult convert as of 5 years ago, having gone through Religious Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), and I learned the basics then. The Catholic Answers videos are further education, and really good stuff! You can go through RCIA just to learn more about Catholicism; you are NOT obligated to convert. Some non-Catholic spouses of Catholics take it to learn more. Catholicism is a beautiful, rich, deep faith. I hope this helps!
Susan Grande you need to find a church and speak to the priest and he will send you to catechism You have to know Catholicism and be baptized ... first communion then confirmation ... you can’t just “become” catholic ... pls find a church and talk to the priest ... God bless you in this wonderful journey ✝️🙏🏻
Hi, Susie! I know it's been a year, and I don't know where you are currently in your faith journey. One thing that helped me out a lot as I desired to learn more about Catholicism was listening to Relevant Radio! You can pray live with listeners across the country with Drew Mariani and his show (depending on where you live, the times for each show will be different) or with Karen Moran and Fr. Dave in the evening in the Family Rosary Across America. Some shows for learning more about the faith include Fr. Simon Says, the Patrick Madrid Show, and Go Ask Your Father. People of all backgrounds and walks of life are encouraged to call in with any questions they may have. There is always someone willing to talk with you and enter into dialogue. I highly encourage you to download the free Relevant Radio app, where you can find shows on-demand, articles and much, much more. Also, if you haven't already, check out Bishop Barron's Catholicism series. You can find it on the Word on Fire website, along with other great faith materials. He's also got a podcast called the Word on Fire Show and a podcast where you can find his inspiring homilies called Bishop Barron's Sermons. I pray for you as you continue on your journey of faith. Please feel free to reach out at any time.
I wish I was exaggerating. I'd probably be in a mental hospital or even dead today if it wasn't for the fact that I started listening to Father Mike's podcast 5 years ago.
"I'm scared". In the past few days my girlfriend made me see how often I've said these words in these very days: I'm struggling with studying and when I face the time for it, I'm scared by the difficulties and the effort needed to get all done. I'm acting cowardly because of comfort, waiting the time when studying will be easy. Thanks father Mike for these words: they have been to me like praying myself the Holy Spirit for Fortitude. I'll now see how much of it entered in my heart. Gold bless!
Hello, Father, your bless! I'm a Catholic from Brazil. Even though I don't have an excellent English, I love your videos because they speak right to the Christ that I have in my heart. God bless your mission and the priestly vocation!
Dear Father Mike, listening to this in 2023. It's just what I need. Thankful to YT and to YOU and Ascension Presents who created this 5 years ago - and this is the Holy Spirit's prompting to me on this year's Pentecost Sunday... God bless you, Fr. Mike!
Wow! So true, it’s easy to be courageous when it’s courageous but very difficult when everyone is against you. I work with people who like to speak ill of my religion. I am catholic and feel like I am alone sometimes but I always say what I need to say. Sometimes I feel like someone else is saying those things like maybe the Holy Spirit os speaking for me. Wishful thinking. Though I do ask God and the Holy Spirit to give me strength when I am confronted by those who speak ill of me. Pray for me Father Mike.
I think this is such a challenging thing and difficult thing to apply to our daily lives but totally worth it at the same time. It's hard to be courageous and stand up for what you believe or to stand up against yourself when you want to commit sin. I will keep you all in my prayers that we may be a courageous people of God both in public and in private. I find this so difficult to do but with God's help nothing is impossible. Thank you Fr Mike for always knowing exactly the right thing to say at the right time. It's also a time to be courageous and go to Confession and receive God's Healing and His Grace, I don't know about others but I need courage to do this as well - to own up to my sins and confess them and then be thankful for God's immense Mercy and Grace.
Just saw "Paul, The Apostle of Christ" movie and THAT IS COURAGE--St. Paul & St. Luke and all f the Apostles before us that kept the Christian faith alive for all of us had true real courage. We all need to STAND UP, STAND STRONG and STAND FIRM in our Catholic Faith. We can NOT back down.
Hi Fr. Mike! I think it's sound theology and/or philosophy that courage is seldom given by God. What's important, which are always given are boldness and fortitude. Like when you are to be martyred, courage might not be given. But because of faith and full entrustment of yourself to God, you though extremely scared of what's to happen will just get to the martyrdom, tortures or whatever, shaking scared but boldly (conviction) go to it and through fortitude sticking to full entrustment to God, you stay in faith to the end, "Totally yours God." Many don't do what's right because they wait for courage to come. Well, maybe our definitions of courage are different. I now pray for courage for things i need to do but still do it even when courage isn't given. Then I accomplish God's will. Before, I wait for courage before I act. I hope I've given my point clearly enough. Thanks for reading and hopefully giving feedback. I want to know the truth. More power to you and your holy work! You inspire me much and I learn from your talks.
Thank you Father...courage & truth are hard but worthy of thinking about every day. I need to find the strength to let go of my house that is draining me physically and financially it’s so hard but the truth I see is I must I must face it ! I must act to save myself but after living in this house for 23 years it’s hard to move at my age hard to go anything really but I push myself I keep trying Thank you for this ... I was just at a reconciliation meeting with my parish priest yesterday and I asked him for courage to do something I really do not want to do so this video of yours helped me see I need to do it also ... please pray for my strength Thank you
Thank you, Father Mike. This means a lot to men over 60 and alone in a marriage. The daily Rosary is and always will be an anchor of hope and strength.
To live through daily hassles needs courage but once one commits to living well in God's grace spiritual warfare begins. And it needs courage to see one's failings and yet not quit. Life is hard but Jesus in the Garden also had to be courageous to continue his journey to the cross. Well, that is how we have to embrace our trials and move on. Thank you Fr.Mike for your clips...always explained so simply and truthfully.
Thank you for your message on Fortitude...I'm not Catholic, I am a child of God. I do lack fortitude, so I suffer depression. For my heart knows full well that I was fearfully and wonderfully made but I'm living in opposition to that, so I'm in conflict with myself. I need confidence, like the confidence of the apostle that Jesus loved, for to know that that is where your true nature lies is to completely astonish fear.
I am praying for you both. I have dealt with the same in the past. I know that praying helps, going to Confession and Mass and finding my faith again helped immensely as well. But if you are already doing those things, it could be your diet and getting enough sleep (8 hours, use Lavender essential oil on your pillow helps sleep) and excersise.
Also pray your Rosary DAILY. It will help you overcome your anxieties. "Love our Lady. And she will obtain abundant grace to help you conquer in your daily struggle." --St. Josemaria Escriva
Thank you Fr. Mike for this outstanding message. Today's culture demands extraordinary courageous people especially when the truth is being under constant attack. Let's pray that with the help of Holy Spirit many saints like St. John Pual II may arise and stand firm to uphold the truth and courageously journey through the road of sainthood.
In the evening is when you need to be courageous, what a great way to explain the real difficult of being saint, I can't miss one of this videos, they are so wonderful to my ,life, thanks a lot.
Fr. Mike never disappoints. Wish he was around when I was younger . . . The topics and insights have been so helpful in my personal exploration of my faith.
Complacency is not what I’m looking for, but I love that you talked about preparing ourselves for trial, exhausted my previous excessive pride in my self became the first rock to bring down each pillar of my temple.
Thank you, Father Mike. My name is Michael too, Michael Stewart, and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I really needed to hear your words at this time. Thank you, so very much. God Bless.
Father Mike, I understand the meaning of Fortitude. I gave everything knowingly that I would suffer. But God gave me the strength of truth, the strength of humility and the strength to Love those who hurt me. UK. Father everyday feels as if I carry the burden of my invisible cross. But I have faith in man or perhaps I should say hope.x I'm still learning.
I have never felt more distanced from The Lenten season than I feel right now. Perhaps, it's too much. And maybe because I decided not to think about Lent I feel God's presence even more than ever before. I am being quiet and I am listening. I cannot physically seek the Lord the way I have done before. I think he understands.
I really needed to hear this. Thank you for making this video (and all the other ones as well). Your pieces of advice and use of scripture and present things in our time really help me focus on what’s really important in my life, putting God first. God bless you Fr. Mike!!

Good video! Courage comes when we are weak... as the Bible says: Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10

Having a particularly trying week after having such a spiritually filling last week. This is so true, easy to be good when it’s easy to be good. Thank you for this video. Just what I needed to hear. God is good.
Thank you Father Mike I really needed this right now in my life. I’m leaving within a week for basic training at Fort Benning. I’m nervous and scared of what lies ahead, but I know with Jesus at my side I will be courageous!
Thanks! The confirmation kids were doing a session on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. I showed them this video and asked them to look for practical examples of fortitude. Ideal video to use.
Some of the best teachings are hard. For instance, John 6. Disciples of Jesus walked away when they had the same reaction to one teaching, and that teaching is still one of the hardest to believe, but also one of the most beautiful.
I've recently discovered Jordan Peterson, and one of the things he said that really resounded for me was that the object is to be braver, not less afraid. I really dig that dude. He sure is courageous. (◕‿◕✿)
Wow... this reminds me of a book series I've just finished reading called Divergent. There are five factions based on five values: bravery, selflessness, honesty, peace, and wisdom. The book says itself that you can't have one without the other, and that is the factions' downfall. You can't be honest, selfless, peaceful, or wise without bravery. All of those come at a potential cost. It's cool how a simple dystopian book can talk about something so profound
This is such great timing! I’m starting a household on my university campus called Courageous hearts centered around this principle! Thank you for feeding my zeal for this new mission we are setting out on!
Father. You are a spiritual advisor from your platform . Keep feeding your sheep in this time of wolves . Stay healthy and know we need you

Thank you, Father Mike. My name is Michael too, Michael Stewart, and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I really needed to hear your words at this time. Thank you, so very much. God Bless.

Thank you.
Father Mike you are so inspirational. I love you.
Thank you so much Fr. Mike for this message about courage! The Holy Spirit is within you and wonderfully speaking through you to us
I have never felt more distanced from The Lenten season than I feel right now.
Mike!!
Fr Mike Never goes lightly, his words always hit me right in the pride.
Thanks, Fr. Mike for this wonderful message... It gave me goosebumps
I love this channel and father.... Honesty, modest and integrity. God bless.... More videos ty advanced.... Watching here in the Philippines
Fr Mike never ceases to put out wonderful videos
Thank you. I needed to hear this.
Please pray for me. The Grace and Gift of God through Jesus Christ of Fortitude needs tremendous cooperation. I feel filled with assertiveness. The Lord helped me find a daily prayer life, I shudder if it starts feeling 'dry' and less consolation from God. Please pray for me, late in life to build on courage, to serve God's Fortitude for me. Without it, I cannot truly help others, and end up setting a poor example. Help me to know that kindness *avoids aggressiveness* but is *assertive* in thought, prayer, words, and actions to be of God's goodness and will.
O my Jesus forgive me my sins, and Lead all souls into Heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy. Amen.
Good video! Courage comes when we are weak... as the Bible says:
Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong."
2 Corinthians 12:10
I Thank God for the Gift you, how beautifully He speaks through you.
Such a powerful message
Courage, then Fortitude, then Forbearance. Courage, strength, then staying power.

Just to kneel when I pray is difficult as I love comfort but I know one day I will become a better follower of Jesus. I know he will help me.
I really needed this, thank you very much! God's blessing upong you
Thanks Fr. Mike!

Soooooo good! Thank you Fr. Mike!
I love Father Mike's teachings! I listen to them almost every day.
I have that on my key chain
At the right moment. God bless to you!
One of the reasons it gets harder during a later time of a day has to do with will power
There are lots of information on this
I really love this channel lots to learn and it's amazing for my faith
Great lesson for myself and for my students I'm preparing for Confirmation as soldiers of Christ. Thank you Father.
This is the kind of message that grows my faith!
I agree with your advice. This has been my experience.I never resorted to alcohol during troubled times
Thanks! The confirmation kids were doing a session on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. I showed them this video and asked them to look for practical examples of fortitude. Ideal video to use.
Thank you for the reminder and invitation.
Wow! I love all of your talks but this one was exceptional! Thank you so much for your words of wisdom.
This teaching is hard.
yeah...
Some of the best teachings are hard. For instance, John 6. Disciples of Jesus walked away when they had the same reaction to one teaching, and that teaching is still one of the hardest to believe, but also one of the most beautiful.

That's awesome! I sort of love him now. (✿◠‿◠)
I've been following the doctor too. He's so grounded...etc.
Common sense has never felt so refreshing, or sounded so much like Kermit.
Very inspiring thank you Fr. Mike!!!
Wow... this reminds me of a book series I've just finished reading called Divergent.
Courage. Thank you.
Thank you Fr. Mike.
Inspired
Amen.
Thanks Fr. Mike :)
Beautiful words, definitely need to be courageous with my faith and you fr mike have challenged and inspired me to do so.
This is such great timing! I’m starting a household on my university campus called Courageous hearts centered around this principle! Thank you for feeding my zeal for this new mission we are setting out on!
