This reminded me of a quote from Mother Theresa: "The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."

Actually Mother Teresa borrowed it from Kenneth M. Keith copyrighted 1968 and repeated in 2001. Since Mother Teresa liked it and wrote it on the wall of her cell, she has been getting the credit for it. Many priests in homilies I have heard also credit Mother Teresa for it and I have had many discussions with them. I spoke to Mr Keith in 2000 and again in 2006 for permission to use in my "kids" respective yearbooks, which he graciously gave me in writing for one time uses. I have this need to set the record straight. She was a good woman (now a Saint) but it was not she who received these words in prayer. Since she was already dead, there was no,way for her to set the record straight! Thank you.

POWERFUL & WONDERFUL MESSAGE FATHER!!! This would have been very helpful a decade and more ago but in honesty, maybe I would not have been receptive to it then. All in God's time, I guess ! A good thing God is patient 😉

Fox Mcloud The people who say that never talked to her, any of her coworkers, or patients. They have refused to recognize the good that she did with what she had. She gave people that no one else cared about some dignity and comfort. Saying suffering has a purpose and does good is a Christian belief. She never refused a patient

Fr. Mike: Whenever I do ballet, Taekwondo, and violin, I will do it for an audience of One who is my Father in Heaven. Why do it for everyone else? Most times, they do not know how to appreciate it. I am God's daughter, a child of God.

I was just at Wal-Mart with my 3 kids, and my son with autism started screaming in the checkout and we got a lot of stares. My immediate and usual reaction was, "All these people are looking at us, what do I do?" But today I thought "Who cares that these people are looking at us, how can we get through this gently." And the tantrum stopped pretty fast with my gentle reaction. I am so quick to worry about the watching eyes, but between this and reading Story of a Soul, I'm learning to focus on my little life and not my burdens. (Not that my child is a burden, but because sometimes the screaming in public is a little hard to manage. Kwim?) Anyway, great video!

I definitely know that feeling. My little brother is autistic as well and I often help my parents in getting him through his episodes. It can be extremely stressful in public at times, but this video really showed me to look at it from another perspective. Anyways hope you have a great and blessed day!

@Amy Pointer I hope you are doing well with all you kiddos. Lately with lockdown has been absolutely difficult especially for my son. I been feeling very down and lonely but then this video came and your story. I am too learning that how to deal with burden and my son is gift from God and because of my beloved son my faith got even stronger and closer to God and I understood Gods way.

Wow, I needed to hear this so much. I've been driven to exhaustion by trying to bear the many burdens beneath all the burdens. I am previously a Baptist and am now converting to Catholicism. I have been letting the burdens of opposition from people in my Baptist background weigh me down. Ironically, I first heard the phrase "live in the audience of one" from my Baptist pastor. Little did I know then that the phrase would be influential in my coming home to the Catholic church.

Before viewing this video I was getting angrier inside and feeling more resentful as the reality of my illness and the curbs on my lifestyle set in. I guess when we can't change the circumstances of our life, a change in perspective is the only way to get through the daily grind. Thank you for reminding me that ultimately, cultivating our relationship with the heavenly Father and how we carry our cross is all that truly matters. God bless.

I was asked this question when I went into confession for the first time. After greeting, the priest asked “What is weighing on your soul?” And it was such a profound question I had to think about it for a while. It brought me to tears. It was like Santa asking what I want but infinitely better lol. What burden do I want lifted up. The grace in that question eventually led me to start RCIA. It showed God’s Grace that he cares for me and that I need to nurture my desire to be better and learn and practice virtues. Now I try to ask this question to myself when I’m struggling or see someone else struggling. What’s weighing on our soul to be better and to do better?

So true! When you posted this I was hoping the crew liked my baking enough that I'll be called back as a second cook on the Great Lakes. I was only on the ship 3 weeks - sort of a "courtship" period. When I got stressed out it was because of the "work behind the work," and I had to take a moment to trust God, saying, "If You want me to succeed at this, You'll make sure it happens. If you want me to fail at it, You'll arrange it. Either way, I accept Your will. All success is through Your grace. I accept all humiliations as a reminder that You are God, I am Your mere creature; and I offer them up in atonement for sin. I offer myself entirely to You. Place me where You want me to do Your work for Your glory. I ask only for the joy of serving You." It calmed me down so I could just do the work that I needed to do. If the company calls me out to work again, maybe I'll go to Duluth or Superior -- it would be cool if you or another priest could come aboard to hear Confessions....working in the galley makes it hard to go ashore when Mass and Confessions are normally held, not to mention the logistics of finding a parish and arranging transportation.
