The sonics of this video are actually insane. For a demonstrative video, this really sets the standard as far as organic instrumentation and skillful musicianship.
True, but good gear can inspire and enhance your creativity. I feel I'm much more productive with a looping setup in Cubase than trying to compose and arrange an entire song the classical way (of course that comes once I'm happy with the looping result).
You‘re absolutely right. I haven‘t come across any keyboard or sound generator that could replace the Rhodes. Just by using the specific mechanics and having the unique feel of the instrument is much more inspiring than using a surrogate. But then I haven‘t come across anything that could replace my B3, Wurly, acoustic and electric guitars, basses, banjos, ukes, blues harps, drums, timbales, congas, violins, kalimbas, saxes, accordions, tablas, sitars, buzoukis, mandolins, balalaikas, sakuhachis, tin whistles, bagpipes, vibraphones, celtic harps, double basses, trumpets, handpans, pedal steel guitars, spoons, ocarinas or didgeridoos…😁
Very cool to see in action. I’m always most amazed in Claudio’s videos by how well he effortlessly jams to his tracks. Probably a superior understanding of music theory at work there.
Dude, seriously, amazing. When I first started watching I thought "here we go, another hype man" but soon as you tickled the "ivory" I was blown away! Very inspiring and I cannot wait to explore the possibilities with my new RC-505. Subscribed and appreciating your work already.
Thanks for your videos I imagine you driving a spaceship with the sound of your instruments, there were even crystals and the surface of the spaceship was organic, so cool
All nice all that hardware. Great gadgets and toys. But Doctor Mix is a great example of what you'll be capable of doing with it when you study music, learn to play piano and keep practising all your life. Such a great musician 👍🏽
Hope you stream or record (for UA-cam) your "In the Loop" event. Your global fans would love to virtually attend. Glad to see the XM (and the Boss) getting some Dr. Mix luv ; ) They are both fantastic pieces of (ROLAND) gear!
Gutted I missed it, I would have been at work any way.. @Doctor Mix I want another dream gig, the last was awesome, more!! Oh, and the venue.... Well, you'd never have guessed who owned it was mega-rich... And it was so wonderful to meet you, too, big love, the tall guy that gladly shook your hand (and hoped that some of the magic rubbed off). And Ra-Ra, meet me there again, you were all this guy likes, an awful lot!
Nice, i see you have TR8s there. I bought it 6 months ago and i loooove it. Now im saving for loop station cuz i love live looping. So good for night jamming with friends. 🎶👏🥂
I saw one of these loopers in use by a guy in a bar I'm Savannah several years ago. He had a strat, a mic, and a snare drum. But the shit he was doing on the fly with the looper was incredible. So cool, I've wanted one for a while but I'm not skilled like this guy.
Cool ! Yes london is near Orange France no ? I could be at octobr 13th to see you 😉 ! Ah, no, London is in UK, ah, ok, then, i will be october the 13th at Orange in France. 😪 But i will think i will be with you with my mind.
YAY! Thank You!! Sp glad I stumbled across your video. Looking forward to checking out more. I am looking to expand my music path and start my looping journey. I have been wanting to do this for so long but I have never been keen on equipment and I haven't known what to purchase. I think this looks like a spectacular option! Would you say this is good for beginners? I only have an old Casio keyboard and an electric guitar and of course my voice! ♡
feeling sorry for not being in London, but if it is possible, please make a online workshop for that...this would be great...or a video...or a video......yeah...love👍❣
great gear that RC-505 MKii - I already had that on my list - but an ASM Hydrasynth wins currently... but I still want to have that Loop-Machine soon in my studio. best regards, Frank Liebe
Love this kind of 'explainer' video's and I love your energy... keep on posting this kind of stuff. I'm sorry I'm not in London this week, but... are you in the Amsterdam area next week (ADE) ????
Beautiful music! Could you please share your Midi-setup. Im trying to do what you are doing BUT after recording the first track and it goes into playback mode, it automatically triggers the Rhythm on the keyboard.. Which I ofcourse dont want.. Please let there be light.. ✨🙏
Beautiful! This one without a mixer? I thought the Boss preamp was bad. I have a JDXA, also with a vocoder, and I think that with a Loopstation MK2 and Circuit Tracks I can do the same clock sync. Any details on how to succeed with this configuration?
Hi Claudio! I really enjoy your videos, except of synth expert, you are great musician also! I like your style and your sense of humour, you are my man in every way. If you ever come to Athens Greece, it would be a honour for me to meeting you in person! Question: what are you playing at 4:45 ? Sounds great, like Alan Parsons project, or something, sad you stopped playing, we need more…😢
bro you’re a beast! I bought this thanks to you. Only problem I have is I have a big room full of instruments and mics, so i don’t have the station sometimes at a reach, Is there any way i can get at least 4 beats or clicks, like a countdown so i’m not forced to jump right into recording? thanks in advance
Your videos are VERY INTERESTING! They make me want to pull out my own dusty old Casiotone electronic musical keyboard from the closet, and play with it ALL NIGHT LONG! 😎
Claudio...thank you so much for doing this....I just purchased the RC 505 mk 2 and havent hooked it up to anything yet. I also picked up a Roland MC-707 Groovebox and a Roland Phantom 6, so was trying to figure how which way best to connect them.
Will the Boss Mk2 start recording when you hit your first note after you hit record/play or will it automatically start recording when you hit record/play?
Great video!! Could not manage to attend your event in London. Do you have any more shows on Looping coming up? Also more information on Looping and equipment.
Great! A few things: - You can set up play/overdub so that after recording it goes directly into play, prevents unwanted overdubbing and having to push the button again. - No need for the TR-8S for side chain, just play around with the input/track step slicer effect! Have you played around with the internal vocoder effect? Do you find the jupiter vocoder is better?
@@OrSaar I'm not sure why you're reacting like that. It's basically just like a LFO tool, synthetic sidechain, obviously not reacting to the real kick, but in EDM real compressors are not that often used like that, rather LFO tool or similar, as the kick never changes.
So, if I had a nice microphone - a couple of tongue drums, some Native American flutes, a banjo, etc, could I get a 505 MKII and record it directly into my computer or do I need more expensive equipment?
@doctormix great work! Just a question about the faders. I just bought one and the faders are extremely flimsy with no resistance at all. Is this normal? I have several other products from BOSS and the build quality is usually pretty good. This is very disappointing if this is the case. Perhaps my unit is faulty out of the box.
Hi! So from what I you’re using the 505 as master for the other synths.. do you feel it has a steady enough clock to be master to several synths when playing live without a computer?
I love my RC505 MKII. I was really surprised that with the huge number of FX in it, they didn't include a simple 4/4 sidechain compressor in there, driven off the tempo. Maybe a future firmware...
@@flrn84791 Similar, but not the same thing. Step slicer cuts the volume down (or off) for a specific amount of time to the beat. Sidechain compressor compresses the audio, with a gradual attack and release, to the beat.
@@ScottsSynthStuff Well compression is just reducing gain at a certain threshold with a certain ratio, or depending on another signal's gain for side chaining. Which is why stuff like LFO tool or shaper are used for artificial side chaining when the kick is constant. So in the end still the same :) The step slicer might be more granular than an LFO tool, but still good enough for looping and live purposes.
Great. I wonder: Can you do exact the same with the the RC-600? I'm more of the keys, but a friend is more of the guitars. So if we want to buy just 1 looper, with one should be handy... is my thought. And another thing: the 'In the loop workshop' - will it also be featured on UA-cam?
Does anyone know how to set the delay automatically according to the adjustet pace (speed)? At the moment it seems like i allways have to adjust it manually, which is not easy at all. Every other machine is able to serve a perfect delay preset, set trough master clock, or tabbing. Please i need help!! :D

Hey when's the next one? Would love to support something like this
This is, hands down, the most inspiring and captivating Boss RC-505MKII performance I’ve come across yet.
Yep? Check Grand Beatbox Battle from 2023, Loopstation category 😮
@@arturkonstanciak6339 Yah, I like how they are using the synth effect there to create the melodies without MIDI - just mic only. 👍
The sonics of this video are actually insane. For a demonstrative video, this really sets the standard as far as organic instrumentation and skillful musicianship.
brooo this is the best demo vid I've seen! Just got an rc505 mk 2 and now I'm buzzinnnn
Only one comment. As usual: it's not the instrument. It's the skill of the human being making it play. Claudio can make a stone play music
He is good! I wish I had his talent and abilities.
Ya he’s a stoner😂
I totally agree.
True, but good gear can inspire and enhance your creativity. I feel I'm much more productive with a looping setup in Cubase than trying to compose and arrange an entire song the classical way (of course that comes once I'm happy with the looping result).
Claudio, you have mastered the art of Making It Look So Easy!!
Thanks!
Hands down , one of the finest looping videos I've seen. 👏
Man... You can throw a thousand instruments my way but I'll ALWAYS just LOVE that Rhodes... It's such a fantastic sound! ❤ 😛👍

Not only is this a very helpful tutorial to the RC505MKii but now I must check your original music - fantastic organic grooves, Doctor!

And that Jupiter Xm looks like a very fine machine also.
Check out the XM, it is quite versatile, like a synth Swiss knife ...

That Crumar has awsome stand place on the top 😉👍

Back in the day we used a compressor limiter to do sidechaining - I love the simplicity with those

I always wondered if you had a Tr-8S hiding with your other vintage drum machines. Thanks for the looping lesson!
I’m convinced now about this 505🤯👍
Amazingly enjoyable video.
The TR8-Is my favourite drum machine so much fun to use...

Hello Doctormix,
It's exceptional, can I have a vision of the connections and the configuration between the rc505mk2 with the jupiter xm?

what is the best mic to get with this looping station for outdoor events to do angel frequencies without picking up all the additional noise

Will the Boss Mk2 start recording when you hit your first note after you hit record/play or will it automatically start recording when you hit record/play?

Amazing demo & great musicianship :) Thank you!
2 seconds in & I thought it was gonna be remix of "Intergalactic" by The Beastie Boys! 😂💯
The 4:38 bit on the rhodes sounds waaay too familiar. Where is it from?
