6:48 QUANTIZE:
With tracks for which LOOP SYNC (p. 3) is “ON,” under any of the conditions listed below, your timing will be corrected
(Loop Quantize) based on the tempo and time signature of the rhythm, even if the timing at which you press a button is
slightly inaccurate.
If the rhythm is on
If there is an already-recorded track whose LOOP SYNC is turned on
If the MIDI Sync is on
* The QUANTIZE setting applies only during recording. It is ignored during overdubbing or playback.
* When you stop recording, it is quantized to match the measure length of the previously-recorded track (LOOP SYNC: ON)
or rhythm.
QUANTIZE: OFF:
Recording begins the instant you perform the operation.
When you stop recording, it is quantized to match the measure.
QUANTIZE: MEASURE:
Quantize to the measure start location for recording.

@@EdanLeahy I do own the 505 mk2 for a week, but I have never used such a looper or synthesizers. It's not that easy for me, but UA-cam will help me out. I'm a drummer for a very long time, and I want to make a own sounds to drumming at. :)

7:46 LOOP LENGTH
Specifies the length to which LOOP SYNC (p. 3) aligns the beginnings of the material for loop sync.
AUTO:
The length of the first-recorded phrase will be the LOOP LENGTH.
1-25362:
Manually specifies the number of measures that will be looped.
This gave me an headache on the Mk1 when I started doing a new track and didn't change the auto settings lol

Thanks for the video! Quantization is the looper trying to time your notes/beats on the measures. So when you are slightly off on your rhythm, the quantize function help you nudge everything right on the measure.
Does this really work? I thought this only works with midi notes

These parameters specify the track to output from the PHONES jack.
* When STEREO LINK (p. 11) is “ON,” MAIN, SUB 1 and SUB 2 are shown.
MAIN-L, R:
The track set in “MAIN-L, R” (p. 11) of ROUTING/TRACK is output.
SUB1-L, R:
The track set in “SUB1-L, R” of ROUTING/TRACK is output.
SUB2-L, R:
The track set in “SUB2-L, R” of ROUTING/TRACK is output.
INDIVIDUAL:
The track set in “PHONES” of ROUTING/TRACK is output.
PHONES MONITOR:
* This is shown when the SW parameter of ROUTING/PHONES OUT is set to “INDIVIDUAL".
OFF, ON:
When this is set to “ON,” the track’s sound always plays back through the PHONES jack,

Thanks you Thank You! I was trying to get a track to play longer than 1 measure despite setting it longer. Recording a blank track to the length you want did the trick.. Nothing in the manual about that. You saved my sanity !!!
I was going nuts, because all tutorials I found dealt with the rc-505. It was so difficult to translate the settings on the mkII. Thx for helping me out.

They should offer a link to this video right on the freakin packaging man! I was getting so frustrated until i watched this. I had no idea how easy looping can be if you understand all the settings. Wow what a magical invention the 505 is!

Thx a lot for the video - I learned MUCH more from it than from reading the rather thin manual. I have recently bought the RC 505 mk2 along with a Boss FS 7 pedal. Still I haven't found a good way to simply trigger several guitar tracks/loops with the pedal. All gear from the same brand....

Very useful tutorial many thanks. I am still finding a way to easily switch on/off my main output. (so when you record your song on phones (without running a through your monitors) and you want your music out of monitors, what is the routine??)

At 6:46 the Quantize setting is supposed to align the tempo of the loop to the rhythm that is used, but it seems that up to rel 1.21 this is not working great.

Great tutorial! I’ve heard there are a lot of problems the the new version. Like forced quantitatization and others things. Would you still recommend this over the old version ?
there's an update available for the MKII. You can find it in the support section for the loopstation on the Boss website. That might fix the problem you refer to.

Thanks for the video man! For some reason usage of some effects (such as OSC BOT) on my mk2 makes the sound volume really low, to hear something I need to turn the output level to the max possible value. Any idea why does it happen or how I can fix it?
I don't really know where this could come from but I don't thinks it's a bug. It might be something in the Menu
@@DgyMie it's so strange for me, it's kind of out of the box, I haven't changed anything from the start besides updating it to 1.04. Really nervous about it, that was a lot of money and I'm not sure where to ask for support with this issue. Really greatful to you for the response, that means a lot!

Hi I have a question. The older version you could set a pre roll on your first track in the drum settings. Is the mkii capable of this function? For example on the old rc505 you could set the pre roll hit play hear a count in and record your loop. I haven't seen where this is possible on the mkii. Thanks

So, when you set the measure length on a track, can you also setup auto record? Also, will it stop at the measure length? So if I want to record guitar, have it auto start, will it stop at the measure length set, so that you don't have to hit stop?
What effects are you using to make the kick drum so bassy? Amazing how quickly you already know the machine dude. I still cant get one in england. Thanks for the info. Is it just extra bass eq?

Thanks for the video overview. Compared to the MK1: It's Quite a downgrade that they just deleted the knobs of Phones/Inst/, lol. Weird decision. Also, they could learn a thing or two from Native Instruments KompleteKontrol / Maschine Display Quality, which has more than 3 pixels, and has a nicer Menue-Structure with Knobs/Buttons above/below the display. Also i don't understand why they dont produce an additional Addon-Module for people who want more than 5 Loopers? Other than that: Good changes

Hi! Thanks so much for a really helpful video. I was wondering if you could PLEASE help me with an issue I'm having. When I record my tracks with a certain input fx, the fx doesn't stay in the recording at all. It's like the fx works for the live output but not for the recorded loops. Do you know why this might be happening? I have also tried recording my loops with the track fx on but those don't record either...Thank you!!
Is the harmonizing/autotune of your mic a RC.505 effect or some external device?
Just received my mk2, and I'm still trying to work out how to get not only recordings, but overdubs to align -- both tempo and track sync are on, and I'm trying to have variable length measures (for ex. a simple percussion instrument on every beat, sampled only once, so I don't have to go through a whole 16 measure structure), another instrument with just a 4 measure structure, and the whole overall loop on 16 beats. When I try to do that, when either recording on new track or simply dubbing, the new record and/or dub gets cut off at the length of the previous track or dub. I've tried setting mesure size for each of the tracks to "auto", but that doesn't seem to do the trick for me. Will probably have to use Quantize also, since using acoustic instruments (with both hands) it's hard to perfectly time the playing and pressing of the button to record/dub.
Question for you unrelated to the loop station. What mic are you using & what would you recommend for a studio recording mic? I'm a hip-hop vocalist if that helps. Just hoping for some incite so I can make a well worth investment, & you seem like you know your shit. Thank you in advance!

In User Manual documentation in section Getting Ready on the page no 5 we can find: [FX] buttons. These buttons select whether to apply effects (input FX/track FX) for each track or not (effects are applied when the buttons are lit, and not applied when unlit).
Also there is in section Creating a Loop Phrase (subsection Recording with Input FX) the next text: 1. Press the [FX] button for each track to turn its effects (input FX/track FX) on/off.
It’s true, using [FX] buttons we can switch ON or OFF ‘track FX’ effects for tracks. But in my case [FX] buttons are not related with applying ‘input FX’ effects for the tracks. In both cases, when [FX] button is lit, or unlit, ‘input FX’ effect is applied for track. Is it really possible use [FX] buttons for switching ON or OFF ‘input FX’ effects for tracks?

Selon certains paramètres, s'ils sont en "memory" au lieu de "system" alors les paramètres se sauvegardant que sur une seule piste (qu'il faut pas oublier de sauvegarder). Sinon je te conseil de passer en "system"

Try to switch on all the inputs from the track you're trying to record on

A few questions for you that I hope you can help with.
1. Is there any particular reason why my microphone would only record vocals into the left ear instead of being center? Am I the only one who has had this issue? If so, how would I go about centering the signal? The unit is up to it's currently firmware unless another has come out recently. I'm currently using a Shure PGA 48 microphone. Phantom power is turned on. Any ideas?
2. Have you ever used The Boss FS-6 foot switch CTL 1,2/Expression input? I can't seem to get mine to work with it but the manual says it does?

I've never uses a footswitch so I can't really help with that but for the mic try this : MENU>INPUT>SETUP>STEREO LINK [MIC : OFF]
