Do you remember the socket size for the drain plug? I’m old and fat and would like to reduce the number of times I have to get up after manoeuvring myself under the car 😊 Thanks.
Hi, I drained my coolant from the bottom house radiator. But the expansion tank stayed full. Is that normal? Later i drained from the waterpump, but i didnt check if the expansion tank drained to be honest...
@StupidBlokeStupidVideos you cant drain it from the overflow hose? That u take it off from the radiator, and then throw the hose down? What does the expansion tank does then? Because u fill it up for like nothing?
@ the coolant system is pressurised, and as the coolant heats up it expands. On old systems it would just throw some out when the pressure gets too high and the radiator cap releases it, but with an expansion tank it pushes it out and through a hose into the expansion tank (which isn’t under pressure). We it cools and shrinks again, it sucks it back in. If your coolant is low, filling the expansion tank won’t actually enter the cooling system.
Thanks! Really it just needs switching to hot, but best off having the fan on to make sure it’s circulating through the matrix. Just put the fan on low speed though or else it could stop the car reaching temperature to open the thermostat properly and fully bleed the system in cold weather.
@@ferryportia9442 no problem at all! Good luck with it, and hope the video helps. P.s. there’s loooooaaaads of other C1 vids on here too if you fancy a scroll through my other videos.
The coolant flows through the heater matrix all the time. There's no valve so it bleeds regardless. The cold setting just moves an air flap to bypass the heater matrix.
Yea some systems do that, some have a valve. Never really investigated what type this was but makes sense to be a flap, but I always leave it on hot when bleeding it up anyway yo make sure it’s circulating.
That depends on the cooling system. In my car the hot/cold selector opens&closes a valve in the coolant hose that feeds the mateix. Air always blows over the mateix, it I can choose if the Coolant circulates through that part of the circuit or not, therefore controlling the temperature of the air coming out of the vents.
I always thought wynns = snake 🐍 oil 🛢. In this case it would seem not. Looked like you could have left just plain water in it overnight. That coolant at end of video looked a little foamy.
This is great instruction, I'll follow this to the letter when I change the coolant mid week.

I think, it was a 14mm 🤔
hahaha
Wonderfully presented, thanks
Thanks mate, don’t forget to check out some of my other vids!
Is it necessary to use Toyota approved coolant because of possible water pump failure?
Any brand coolant should be fine, as long as it’s the right spec
I've never actually tried it myself .looks like it actually does something
I'm actually enjoying your videos and learning something from them especially the noise to make when emptying coolant haha bleghh
That’s the correct noise to make when doing the job efficiently and professionally
Gonna use it for daughters yaris same engine, great instruction couldnt find drain plug never looked at water pump so cheers for clear instruction
Good to hear the video’s helpful to someone!

@@pgrferrari yea the expansion tank doesn’t drain. I sucked the coolant out of mine in this vidoe

@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos thank u for the explanation. I am just wondering now why u need to fill the expension tank then.
@ it’s a reservoir to keep the level/pressure in the system correct
Brilliantly presented and funny too...one question, do you keave heater on blowing full hot or just the control to full but heater not on?

Where did u get the new copper washer.and what size is it
I nicked it from work, I think it’s 12mm but could he 14mm 🤔
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos do u really need to replace it???
@@darrenkane4026 it should be ok to go again tbh, but I usually just replace them cos I have them to hand
Hello mate where can I buy one of those pumps that you used?
It’s just a little syphon pump, I got it from a car spares shop
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos Thank you.
Anyone know what size the copper washer for the drain plug is?
I think it’s 12mm or so, but can’t remember for sure. Sorry.

Tried flushing and changing the coolant of my C1, but I couldn't for the life of me get that 14mm bolt off.
What did you use to get yours off?
If it’s tight, try a long handle ratchet with a good quality 6 point socket
You beast getting random ladies commenting that they love you haha
grant k, I’m used to it 🤷♀️
I replied to her now at least lol
HaHahaha fantastic!!

I think dishwasher tablets are supposed to do a good job too.
