this was originally clipped on youtube but has since disappeared. figured i'd clip it myself and put it back up because it's fun, even if sweetened and spliced with interview clips :)

Oh boy....have read today that Mr. Wilson has dementia. It makes me so damn sad cause he´s definitively one of my 3 "heroes" when it comes to music.... Just wish him all the best. God bless this man, who gives us so much joyful times with his music ;-(
Absolutely. Wherever his life goes from now, he is still providing joyful times. His music will outlive us all.
It is really hard to understand and to realize that a person who wrote so much beautiful, wonderful music now is gonna "forget" all of this memories in days, weeks, months....all cause of such a devilish disease.... :-(

It's always interesting to me how Brian paces back and forth.
He was probably ridiculously anxious. He's also pretty obviously lip-synching to a backing track. It's sad that he was subjected to this and that Landy even had the power to make it that the Beach Boys (his brother and cousin!) weren't even allowed on the stage with him at the same time.
Eugene is in a certain afterlife (and it's hot and aint in the clouds)...

I remember seeing this back in 1989, and being so disappointed when the song appeared on Still Cruisin'. This version was so much better, didn't have the Excedrin Headache #9 drums.
Footage from this era always bums me out but nice to hear that shortenin bread riff in full force. Brian calling the song a 1990’s car song is awesome.

Bless his heart. What a legend. A beautiful soul that created some of the most beautiful harmonies and melodies in the 1960s and some parts of the 1970s.

I have to say that's the most confident and commanding i've seen Brian look on stage and that's despite Eugene Landy still being on the scene or is it because he had met Melinda?

It’s such a strange concept. Bring Brian out for only a few songs? That makes sense if that’s all he wants to do. But to have the rest of the Boys leave the stage for it? Why? Did the full group do anything together at these gigs?
I think this was when Brian was being controlled by Dr Landy. He'd have no contact with the other Beach Boys.
@@guybeachboy Brian also performed with the Rest of the boys in this TV Special - they even did the acapella campfire songs! i guess the rest of the band just didnt care about love and mercy or something and who knows what other solo stuff he performed here that just didnt get broadcasted.
Thanks for the correction, I've only seen the UA-cam clips and thought at that time he would just be performing solo.
the album version sucks ass and this version is interrupted with interviews - we truly cant have nice things. can someone please cut together an "ultimate" version of this song??
