It´s slowly starting to look like a workbench, as we join the two main pieces together. This is he shortest episode of this series so far, but with a lot to tell.
This is the sixth video in a longer series about making a versatile Workbench/Workstation. This project is especially awesome for small workshops but the general construction methods can be used for any size wood shop!

Hey guys, is this format for the video title, with the information first, better than the old one? I´ve been struggling with that thought for some time and I am thinking about changing i.e. turning around all the workbench video titles in this way, so that it´s easier to see what the video is about, especially on mobile devices, where long titles are often cut.
What do you think?

Flat sides of washers always go against the work, not nut. This is to ensure is tightens up properly. The way you did it, the nut will work loose over time.

Leider nur ein kurzer Teil :) freue mich auf den nächsten. Würde die Muttern noch mit einer zweiten kontern.

Der nächste wird dann wieder etwas umfangreicher. Die Muttern werde ich beobachten und dann zum Ende des Projektes mal eine Zusammenfassung mit Erkentnissen und Verbesserungen drehen. Vielleicht kommen noch Stop- oder Kontermutties drauf.
Um die Maschinenschrauben zu sichern, haette ich selbstsichernde Muttern, also die mit dem Plastikkragen, verwendet. Dann ist eine Lockerung nur bis zu einem kleinen Mass garantiert. Auch Vibrationen sind dann ohne Belang.
Bin schon auf den naexten Teil gespannt.
Hallo! Das ist ein guter Gedanke. Meine Vermutung war, dass sich eher das Holz setzen wird und es dadurch locker wird. Ich werde das mal beobachten und die Muttern dann vielleicht ersetzen. Für den Rad-Mechanismus habe ich mir das bereits vorgenommen, da haben einige Mütterchen bereits ein Eigenleben entwickelt...

Didn’t mean to be nosy, was thinking of what wood sources you might be close to as you said you went for softer wood for the bench based on cost. Would white oak be your most common hard wood?
Don´t worry, I didn´t see it as nosy :)
White oak and beech are the most common hard woods here. Especially beech is available everywhere in small formats so I use that for everything small that has to be very tough.
What japanese saw you are using? 😁
Love this channel, but big washers dosent mean more strength! its only buckles more when tightened!
In this case I think it does. The washers are quite thick and stiff, the wood is quite soft. If I would tighten the nuts any further they would simply pull the washer into the leg, leaving a washer-sized imprint, without any buckling.
