HIKING THE smallest NH “4000 footer” IN THE WINTER! | Mount Tecumseh

- In this video we cover everything you may (or may not) have wanted to know about winter hiking the shortest mountain on the Appalachian Mountain Club 48 4000 footers in the White Mountains list: Mt. Tecumseh!
This is the beginning of our peak-bagging (checking off peaks on an established list of hikes) adventures, starting off with a fairly "easy" winter hike. Easy, of course, is relative. This one, despite it being a short hike, is steep, especially after the viewpoint around 1.1 miles.
Around 2 miles you get a brief relief from the incline, as the trail levels out for just a moment, roughly .2 miles, before you find yourself winding up the remaining .3 miles to get to the summit. You won't find yourself above tree line on this hike, but there has been some clearing of trees done around the summit that allow for beautiful views of surrounding peaks, and even a distant view of the Presidential Range and Mt. Washington.

We loved your hike up Mt. Tecumseh, Harrison and Sarah. Despite Jim Carry's disappointment we weren't. 3 feet? We think you should just use the yardstick once, twice! We love New Hampshire and our youngest son lives there. Further south though in Hanover. He and his wife get up in the mountains hiking as often as they can. We enjoyed your history of Chief Tecumseh. Stunning views from the top! Just a beautiful hike. Loved the butt slide down. Thanks so much for taking us along!

Had to go back and catch the first hike of the quest. Interesting history on chief Tecumseh. You started off the 48 with a bang! You had amazing weather and conditions. The views were great, and the weather looked superb. Butt-sliding is a time-honored method on descending! LOL. Great job, Sarah and Harrison!

We think part of the reason Tecumseh hasn't been taken off the NH 48 list is because they would have to reprint all of the books and guides that have been written about the mountains over the years 😂 But even if it wasn't on the list it would still be worth climbing! That stretch after the viewpoint sometimes feels like it just climbs and climbs. Such a long straight section of trail. Looks like you guys had a cold but beautiful day for it.
Oh gosh yeah it definitely felt like it would never end 😅 But yeah planning the trips up to the whites when you only have a couple of days to choose from means we're either choosing from a super cold day or a just plain cold day! That's the beauty of hiking in winter I suppose 😃 Couldn't have asked for a more clear day though at the same time, was really lovely up there. Thank you for watching!
