Mount Tecumseh in the winter. Hike in the White Mountains: Feb 2022

- Decided to get out for a hike and do one of New Hampshire's 48 4000 footers, Mount Tecumseh. This is my first real snow on the ground winter hike up a mountain so I had my snow shoes along but didn't end up needing them and got by with my micro spikes.
It was February so the snow was deep but the trail was well packed.The true depth was only evident when I stepped off trail to let people by.
I can't wait to see Mount Tecumseh again in the spring with the great greens and brilliant colors that fresh growth brings!

I've certainly had to use the grippers on my boots lately around here. After some rain we had, it sure turned all the snow to ice pretty quickly! Well, what ever the true elevation, it certainly is a glorious view! Yup, some people just don't know what they are missing! Fantastic adventuring! Brother, yes, I take a bit of a hiatus during the winter, from being stuck behind a plow with irregular schedule and the missus being home more with breaks and such. I have slowed a bunch in viewing also which I really need to catch up on.
I love the mountains bro and in the winter the woods are peace with muffled sounds and beautiful views!

Your summation “Most people will never see this” is mostly true - thats why I’m glad for videos like this.
Should I go there tomorrow it’d be different for snow and cloud cover might not be so awesome.
Mostly my hikes involve walking two goofball dogs - a fairly common breed around here :) - there is a joy to these things that I am glad that you shared with so many on the trail.

Howdy Howdy! They for sure helped! Not as icy as the trails in your Steep Rock video but still helped with sliding in the loose snow but snowshoes would have helped a ton on the split.

Beautiful views and I love the clouds overhead from the summit. I ended up doing Tecumseh myself on Saturday. Made for a lovely beginning to my weekend (though it took more out of me than I expected!)

Perfect! Winter hiking is the best! I have to say I was surprised you left the snow shoes behind lol. I did the same thing when I went out yesterday. Strolling along nicely in 3-4" of snow and then hit a 1/4 mile of nasty swampy land that started out not so bad only went ankle deep but a few steps further right up over my boots it went lol Funny thing I was congratulating myself the whole walk for being smart and not carrying my snow shoes unnecessarily and then boom "I am so goddamn stupid! I should have brought those damn shoes!" Lol Great vid, man!
lol, yeah, I had a tough time with that little 1/4 mile stretch but it wasn't too bad. I mainly went deep when I stepped off trail to let people by. Waist high snow in some spots but it was goofy fun! I will have the shoes out before the end of winter I hope! Thanks bro!

I was going to go out to do some bird spotting and counting to add to the backyard bird count numbers this weekend with my snowshoes for sure, but the family has other ideas. I guess I have to drive out a couple counties over to pick up what they are calling mood enhancing ducks lol maybe this afternoon I can contribute to the bird count weekend thing 😃
