Watching Pokémon Challenges react to this gave me an entirely new appreciation for all the little things Alpha did. I love how the sponsor was baked into the video so you couldn’t just skip it, the delivery truly showed his enthusiasm, so much so that he couldn’t bear people not hearing it
Jacob really became a Pokémon villain in this episode, didn’t he? Seeing Pokémon as tools rather than partners. Not taking the care to grow with them, instead opting for instant levels with Rare Candies. Choosing his team for their stats and win rates, rather than just using Pokémon he likes. It’s a dark day… and I’m here for it!
i agree with how jacob feels, because yeah you could play perfectly and take zero risks, but that ruins the content you get from actually forming a bond with your team and the bullshittery that can happen.
Alpharad’s vibe for four years has been an unhinged supervillain trapped behind a wall of comedy and recently he’s started breaking out of the mask slowly and we’re all here for it
I love how being "cheeky" is his thing. He does what most youtuber want to do but don't wanna get caught doing, but that's the gag. I like you channel since the days of "Not ...", so I really like your comedy, and for me is even funnier now, showing your cleverness to farm internet fame and planning. Keep up the good work
I love the character development through the nuzlockes. From a hero rising to an ashes, from a supervillain being ended by his own endless power, driven to insanity. Desensitized to death, looks to slaughter everything using pokemon as tools.
That part was pretty obvious, it's more that pokemon is an easy game so playing it right and getting better at it isn't really the point of it so much as trying it like once per game for fun lol.
His entire point was “If I actually cared, I’d beat this easily, even if I sacrifice a full city worth of Pokemon.” His randomizer Nuzlocke is probably how he’ll play these again later on.
but its all irony because theyre friends and jan doesnt actually does his reactions andd stuff to actually shit on people or shamelessly get rep out of them. its just memes. i dont care if being captain obvious here i just saw way too many people saying stuff like you here.
"You say you're a champion, BUT YOU'RE NOT EVEN PLAYING AROUND MY CRIT RANGE" AHAHAHA I'M DYING. Jacob has been stripped of his humanity and became one with the dark side 😂
8:26 I legit got scared on that part. There`s just something eerie about seeing Alpha`s pokemon villain origin story. The only thing sealing that persona devoid of emotion, with no attachment to anything, is *comedy* .
Jacob’s decent into madness just made remember something: Wasn’t one of the points of nuzlockes to forge a connection with your Pokemon? Like you were supposed to name them, get close to them through them surviving harsh battles and then feel despair when they died? I guess I just kind of forgot that because most of the big nuzlockers treat them more as complicated challenge runs, along the same lines as single pokemon, monotype or level 1 runs, and just see the Pokemon as something you use and then either discard or keep around until they die and you replace them. I admittedly don’t do nuzlockes (tried them before and didn’t really find any fun in it) so maybe I’m just talking out of my ass here.
It is initially just a challenge run. Peoplz who make a big deal about emotional stuff are either content creators who want to give more story to their videos/comics, or people influenced by said content creators. Not saying you cant get attached to your mons, but nuzlockes never were about that at their core.
Nah you're right, that's a big reason why more people end up watching and remembering the people who don't strictly do Nuzlockes because they actually make it fun lol
yes. as the original creator puts it, a nuzlocke is "for the thrill of challenge. for the glory of victory. but mostly for the friends you'll make. the friends you didn't choose or want. friends you'll cherish that much more knowing you could lose them at any moment." it's not just for a hardmode, it's for a new way to appreciate pokemon. i'm sure there are at least some people who see certain pokemon in a new light after a certain nuzlocke run.
@@miwestraveler3986 The first person who introduced the Nuzlockle stuff did it emotional. That's why the nicknaming Pokémon to suffer their deaths was always there.
This is Alpha entering his villain arc. Notice how he no longer refers to his Pokémon by their nicknames he is now just calling them by their species name. This is the fall of the once great trainer
The satire in this video is intoxicating, I love it. The sponsor read was the cherry on top. I love videos like this. It's like two content creators nodding to each other.
"I lost all attachment, Pokemon in Nuzlockes are weapons, and their deaths are disposable and forgettable" XCOM and Darkest Dungeon players: "First time?" also Jan definitely becoming the villain the heroes eventually beat, but who secretly won because now everyone plays Nuzlockes better
I love how the whole concept of nuzlocking and nicknames is that you start feeling attached to them. And Alpharad slowly felt the opposite. Like they were only tools, and sacrifices.
Well yeah its supposed to do that if you play nuzlokes casually. Nuzlockes at a higher level almost require you to see them as lines of code and numbers rather than cute creatures.
I love that Jan is being seen as the overseer of every Pokemon playthrough. Edit: UA-cam mfs when someone makes a joke and the entire reply section turns into an argument that vaguely links to the original comment.
Wow can’t believe you all see Jan’s character and think that’s actually him. He’s said countless times he’s not a gatekeeper. He has fun making them insanely difficult he wants everyone to be consistent to their rules for what’s fun for them and makes no judgement. I learned about encounter routing through his videos and it’s why I now am no longer scared to hardcore Nuzlocke my favorite games. Currently doing White2 and I’m having fun with Pokémon I haven’t had in a while.
Considering the turns things are taking here near the end, I think it's important to remember that the first Nuzlocke Challenge - the webcomic one - was a loss. Talk about "you emerge triumphant or your story never gets told".
I love how even the sponsor read feels like a dig at Jan, I don’t know how serious the beef actually is at its roots past the occasional back and forth, but this video is just gold. Editing because I got to the E4 and he put on the glasses, this shit is my new favorite UA-cam rivalry
@@edwardnygma8533 Nonono, it's more that the delivery mixed with the occasional interjection about the sponsor being compared to the current fight is very very similar to Jan's ad reads, for example the NordVPN read in the Emerald Kaizo 151 video, or Crystal Kaizo introductory video uploaded today.
Alpharad is actually insane now, the whole "he's going insane" bit only went on quicker since someone actually made fun of him. The Icarus himself couldn't handle someone showing the truth to his face, and now he shrivels in petty revenge for all eternity
Pro Nuzlocker when a pokemon dies from a mistake: Wow, bad move, should've switched Pro-Nuzlocker sacrificing 3 pokemon to beat a fight: And that's how it's done!
I mean they have a point. In a lot of situations at least 2 pokemon are death fodder to keep the 1 or 2 extremely important mons alive, like Salamence or Dusklops in the case of emerald kaizo
Late, but most of the time the “sacrifices” do matter a lot, whether it’s due to momentum or simply too risky, whenever there’s a sacrifice, usually it is necessary in order to either not lost your ace (like a psudo-legendary that could sweet the elite four later on) or to prevent a whiteout by regaining momentum. In the end, sacrificing something like a Ratacate, Onyx and a Sudowodo to save a Bagon can pay off later on even if the other three might be strong at the moment but will get out classed later on. In the end it’s all prioritization and everyone makes mistakes (like not accounting for crits for example) but it depends on how you play off the mistake and continue is what separates beginners and veterans; the best way to learn how to recover from mistakes is simply by going out, playing and not being afraid to make those mistakes in order to learn from them.
12:53 “…and then they all fell to their knees and begged that drifter, begged him “please” as he raised his fist before he spoke ‘I am the righteous hand of God, *and I am the devil that you forgot* ’”
Part of me is beginning to think Jacob's beginning to genuinely going insane from how Jan reacted to that ONE video and that ONE moment with that ONE Jynx.
The best part of the evil villain bit is that it's an Alpharad video. We have no idea whether he's actually becoming a psychopath, is internally chuckling at his bit, or is simply doing it to spite Jan. I mean, either way, people like to laugh at other's suffering, so... content.
The presence of Octopath music in Alpha’s video implies one of two things: Alpha has played Octopath and gotten far enough to hear Battle at Journey’s End Alpha has heard the music and chosen to put it in the video because it sounded good
I can’t describe the feelings of immense joy I get whenever people put Bravely Default ost tracks in their videos, and playing The Serpent Eating The Ground at the beginning of the Elite 4 was such a great decision
It's incredible. Doubt I was the only one (and Jacob might have already been familiar with it), but I remember recommending it to him waaaay back for CPUCS Endgame and it's always great seeing it used.
Let's be real. i was half-expecting one of two things the moment onyx came out. 1. history would repeat itself. 2. onyx would one shot charizard despite being underleveled. so the result surprised me. Also, i feel like Jacob went a little insane when making this video.
Is it odd to call this the “Light Yagami” run since Alpha goes insane at the E4 and basically ensured everything was perfect for him to become Champion (God)?
You can feel the strands of his sanity snapping one by one as he turns into the sweaty tryhard that is the literal antithesis to the nonchalant comedian that he really is. And I love it.

I love how the sponsor was baked into the video so you couldn’t just skip it, the delivery truly showed his enthusiasm, so much so that he couldn’t bear people not hearing it

That was quite the Yobanashi Deceive.
Of course

Alpharad took the whole "And I took that personally!" to an incredible level
Jacob really became a Pokémon villain in this episode, didn’t he? Seeing Pokémon as tools rather than partners. Not taking the care to grow with them, instead opting for instant levels with Rare Candies. Choosing his team for their stats and win rates, rather than just using Pokémon he likes. It’s a dark day… and I’m here for it!
Jan is Giovanni and Jacob is Silver. Father corrupts son, master corrupts student.
Bro the rare candies man
Paul is that you?!
Was just about to comment this. This channel is just Team Rocket now.
Shit.
Its better to drug your pokemon with candies instead of waste hours grinding
Jan reviewed it. Now we need a "buddy cop" soul link between those two. The whole world needs it!

The playful spite in this video is excellent. Can't wait to see Jan's response since this is clearly made with his reaction in mind

@@chronomage4939 Yes? You really think he's serious?
@@chronomage4939 Yes
i agree with how jacob feels, because yeah you could play perfectly and take zero risks, but that ruins the content you get from actually forming a bond with your team and the bullshittery that can happen.
Honestly Jan could absolutely win this meme-war, by going full casual in his review.
It would be hilarious
I think Jan just won a mental battle he didn’t even know he was a part of.
No alpha just gave it to his Icarus complex he will fall hard don’t you wait

Legendaries are based
Alpharad’s vibe for four years has been an unhinged supervillain trapped behind a wall of comedy and recently he’s started breaking out of the mask slowly and we’re all here for it
I love how being "cheeky" is his thing. He does what most youtuber want to do but don't wanna get caught doing, but that's the gag. I like you channel since the days of "Not ...", so I really like your comedy, and for me is even funnier now, showing your cleverness to farm internet fame and planning. Keep up the good work
The pettiest part of bringing Onix was playing the "serpent eating the ground" ost when you enter the elite four

I love the character development through the nuzlockes. From a hero rising to an ashes, from a supervillain being ended by his own endless power, driven to insanity. Desensitized to death, looks to slaughter everything using pokemon as tools.
This is malicious compliance on a whole new level and it’s genuinely terrifying but also hilarious
The irony is this video is that even though the goal was just to spite Jan. He actually got better at nuzlockes because of Jan’s advice.
The elite 4 sounded like a Kira monologue

I legit got scared on that part.
There`s just something eerie about seeing Alpha`s pokemon villain origin story.
The only thing sealing that persona devoid of emotion, with no attachment to anything, is *comedy* .
“And non of us are free form HIM!” As someone who’s been watching a lot of pchallanges videos lately, I felt that
I knew when he went monotone for a sponsorship and fully integrated it into his content this man did his research.
Yeah my favorite part of it is how it’s literally a parrot of a Pokémon challenges sponsor reel 😂
@@miwestraveler3986 Do you know where nuzlocke challenges came from?
yes. as the original creator puts it, a nuzlocke is "for the thrill of challenge. for the glory of victory. but mostly for the friends you'll make. the friends you didn't choose or want. friends you'll cherish that much more knowing you could lose them at any moment."
it's not just for a hardmode, it's for a new way to appreciate pokemon. i'm sure there are at least some people who see certain pokemon in a new light after a certain nuzlocke run.
@@miwestraveler3986 The first person who introduced the Nuzlockle stuff did it emotional. That's why the nicknaming Pokémon to suffer their deaths was always there.
Jan is like a prime real life example of the EV trainer from Pokémon Rusty.
So true
This is Alpha entering his villain arc. Notice how he no longer refers to his Pokémon by their nicknames he is now just calling them by their species name. This is the fall of the once great trainer
Alpharad still being a Poketuber after years of UA-cam makes me smile
The satire in this video is intoxicating, I love it. The sponsor read was the cherry on top. I love videos like this. It's like two content creators nodding to each other.

Less of a nod but more of an intense staring contest
Master Ball on Slowpoke is obviously a pro gamer move
I love the nuzlocke community lore. Especially the hard predict that Jan would pause to comment on your catboy outfit!
Every time we think Jacob’s gone off the deep end, he finds a deeper end
I never thought I would see a comment so true
I've got to remember that line it's really solid
"I had a plan! no friends" killed me with laughter
"I lost all attachment, Pokemon in Nuzlockes are weapons, and their deaths are disposable and forgettable"
XCOM and Darkest Dungeon players: "First time?"
also Jan definitely becoming the villain the heroes eventually beat, but who secretly won because now everyone plays Nuzlockes better
Jan is the Senator Armstrong of Nuzlockes
"You may have killed the man, but not the idea"
"We're making the mother of all runs Jacob, can't fret over every poke-egg"
Its a "I win, but I also lose" situation on both ends, then.

I mean alpha has been evil for a long ass time lol.
