  • Understanding and measuring air-filled porosity in compost helps us make really good compost efficiently. This video describes a simple procedure for measuring air-filled porosity. Air-filled porosity is important for the microbes who are making the compost for us, and for our neighbours who have to live beside us! Microbes live in a water layer around compost particles, and rely on oxygen transfer through the air space between the particles. Its one more tool we have to produce great compost!

Thank you for sharing this simple way home gardeners can evaluate and assess the air porosity of homemade compost. I look forward to further useful information, as you teased at the end of the video.
A playlist of topics on how to make quality homemade compost, assessing during the process as in this video, would be very useful …. I’ll look to see if you have such a playlist developing already! Thanks.

Thanks for your comments. I don't have a playlist, but some of the instructional videos are linked to our website as well: www.transformcompostsystems.com
