Two kinds of guitarists in the world: Those with open minds who just want to make music, no matter how, and those who are stuck in the Fifties who can't understand why someone would deviate from what's already been done.
easy bake evan its a shame because Alex Hutchings is a fantastic guitar player. I think there's too much circuitry under that guitar top. Nothing like the guitar and a cord right into a nice slightly overdriven amp.
Cool down folks. Alex can play pretty much any style you want and is very knowledgeable in guitar and rig tech generally, which makes him an excellent demo booth choice for any pedal, guitar or rig you can think of. This small profile guitar looks like it could travel around in a suitcase, it could be a kind of Variax thing with a nod to an Ovation electric model from way back.
I'm waiting for either Line 6 or Boss to come out with a Gig-Axe. It would be a wireless guitar that plays really well that would have a bunch of great tonal dsp going on in it. You program complete rigs in the thing by using your laptop, from guitar all the way to speaker cab. The floor pedal would communicate to the guitar via bluetooth or something similar. The floor pedal would not have sounds built into it, just the guitar. The floor pedal would just trigger on and off of effects and volume/ wah/ expression stuff, and scroll through the guitar set list patches. The thing would have a virtual whammy to achieve hardtail guitar tuning stability, yet the feel and positioning of a real whammy bar. I could go to gigs with my Gig-Axe, the receiver that comes with it, and the foot controller. Outputs on the wireless receiver would consist of ones to go to front of house, and another set to go to flat response monitors of my choice. Headphone out, well, that would be on the guitar itself, of coarse. Battery powered to last for two 4 hour shows, so you never have to worry about running out of juice. One stipulation though; it has to sound, look, and play awesome...hey, I can dream, can't I?
I don't think this can compete with the Yamaha/Line6 Variax based on these sounds and demo. The semi-fanned frets and synth sounds didn't blow me away. I did like the odd shape and color and glad they didn't just try to stick the tech on a Fender or Gibson shape.
U need a player to demo one for a few months?? I volunteer!! Sheeeeyit,I like it, I think I could do well with that drop tune function, u could tailor songs to a vocalists range if the bassist had the same gear..I love tech like this, I SO want one, those low tones sound Muse-like and cool
If it has a 13-pin output I’ll be interested. It was a shame that the Fenders with the on-board V-guitar stuff never had a 13-pin out. (And it has always been a shame that the Variax has never offered anything with a 13-pin out.)
@@MartinCraneRockbeast Sure. I’ve seen people add GK pickups to a Variax. But it is still a shame to put a hex pickup in a guitar without a 13-pin output. You shouldn’t need to add a GK pickup on top of the hex pickup that is already there.
@@MartinCraneRockbeast I have a Roland-ready Strat and have been very happy with it. But I still think it was silly that the model with the on-board VG features lacked the 13-pin output.
I - and I think most people - see Strandbergs are works of art or very pure instruments made to remove all barriers the player may have in creating the music he/she wants with the guitar. Introducing this frankly gimmicky system into the guitar really goes against that. I highly doubt anyone will pay the (presumably) very high price for this. Strandbergs are expensive enough as it is because of their fantastic build quality. Boss should've gone with Ibanez.
Fender already done that and while the guitar tunnings could be useful I see no big thing for guitkeys for my part anyway the shape is just day dreaming, boss has released the new boss distortion DS1 40th only released this one yr 2017 then will be discontinued! which is strange. but
Really don't like all the hard stuff, I am looking for the holy grail of can it write out fingerpicking guitar solos in tablature? Using it's midi capabilities? Or is it going to be half a$$ed not-fully-u-the-neck Fishman Triple Play forever;( ?
Well, technology was not ready at the time. Nowdays it is, but still there remains the question: is the idea of having absolutely universal guitar synth practical? I am not sure :)
The idea is cool and Alex is a fantastic player. But the tone is horrible! They should have tweaked and worked with amp choice etc. It probably doesn't give neither Alex or the guitar justice...
don't matter garbage is garbage and as a guitar player It feels like an insult to even have it as an option. This simply is my opinion. Hope no one gets offended by it.
Sounds cheap, farty, flabby, fizzy . . perfect for djent but useless for most anything else. Roland/Boss is late to the game, Line 6 did this years ago with Variax.

is it me or does that amp sound horrible?
Nope not just you. Amp sounds like a fuzzy butt.
easy bake evan its a shame because Alex Hutchings is a fantastic guitar player. I think there's too much circuitry under that guitar top. Nothing like the guitar and a cord right into a nice slightly overdriven amp.
Yeah, and it's a shame too. I saw Alex live a couple of years ago with just a Boss GT-100 straight into a PA, and he had AMAZING tone.
Sounds like a line-in into a pc without an impulse.
You are not alone man. Sounds terrible, or they just don't know how to make a good tone.
Play a Strandberg. Love it or hate it, it is the most comfortable guitar you are likely to play. It makes a Strat feel like a coffee table.
This is ridiculously cool, I don't get the hate in the comments.
its the shit amp and the way its been recorded
guitaroidman524 Besides that.
This thing was made for Super Nintendo covers

that drop tuning knob , oh god , love it
Love it - how much - where and when?
Very cool modern guitar!
It will cost more than 2000 dollars. A Korean made Stranberg costs 1900 dollars, so the technology will add probably 250-300 dollars more
YOU ROCK BRO! ON ANY 🎸😲🤘
It's kind of like the Line 6 Variax. Needs wireless options.
Boss and their trumpet tone - pat metheny is the best and only good tone :)

Fender GC1
Strap the GK3 to a Variax. Many have.

I have the gc1, Has the 13 pin. The VG strat was a Variax in all but name.
OMG, it's not a guitar.
It's just the future of keyboard.

Boss should've gone with Ibanez.
I want this Guitar!
thw hate is those who can't afford it
how come alex has hair? Two months ago on the song shine he was bald... strange
Erik Ceman hey your right! he looks better without hair
Fender already done that and while the guitar tunnings could be useful I see no big thing for guitkeys for my part anyway the shape is just day dreaming, boss has released the new boss distortion DS1 40th only released this one yr 2017 then will be discontinued! which is strange. but
Nice
Tracking seems to be flabby in some parts.

Using it's midi capabilities? Or is it going to be half a$$ed not-fully-u-the-neck Fishman Triple Play forever;( ?
I like the blue light. That's ok
I can how Alex is feeling inside.. Wht am I doing here
lol drop tunings without the actual string tension? why would I want that?
You play drop tunings for the tension? Wat? The lower tension on the sixth string is the biggest downside to drop tunings as far as I'm concerned.
Todesnuss it changes the sound. its the best part of drop tuning
synthaxe anybody????
I need it
The first synth had some pitch issues
This a dream for my imagination
Pretty sure that the 80's already tried this concept.. and there's a reason it didn't catch on.
They didn't have realtime polyphonic pitch shifting in the 80s mate.
Mihai Florea eventide h3000, kid.

2:43 the real problem of midi (....
Glitchy hex pickup. The boss sy300 tracks better. Should use that technology instead
Strandberg is heading to future😄
I'll buy one for my wife.
better start saving up
Who's killing a cat?
modern looking in 1980
Yeah not a fan of the bias amp 😐
i want one jajaj
lol we mouths wawa when he plays wawa
The idea is cool and Alex is a fantastic player. But the tone is horrible! They should have tweaked and worked with amp choice etc.
It probably doesn't give neither Alex or the guitar justice...
Tried one ... horrible.
Sounds like garbage.....o o I said it!
it's a prototype, not perfect. Maybe never will.....
don't matter garbage is garbage and as a guitar player It feels like an insult to even have it as an option. This simply is my opinion. Hope no one gets offended by it.
Guitar Villain options are horrible?
Just sounds cold and ice picky to me.
I mean his amp sounds like shit yeah but the technology is really cool
O
just get a synth
Roland did this 20 years ago..........
still have mine
don't use it
another year another namm junk sale
Not worth 4500. The one Ibanez did a few years ago is much better than this
yeah strange that alex didn't tka care of this before let them edit the vdo...what an awful sound ;)
Sounds cheap, farty, flabby, fizzy . . perfect for djent but useless for most anything else. Roland/Boss is late to the game, Line 6 did this years ago with Variax.
tracking sucks
that sounds horrific.
yuck lol
what a ugly guitar
We don't need all that in a guitar! you have other technologies for that.Just make a simple elegant instrument like other strand bergs
awfull
amp sounds like poop, and i don't find any of those added on effects useful hahaha
