This Rundown was one I targeted for YEARS ... and it finally happened this summer! Matt Freeman is the kindest, most humble bass player that absolutely rips on his instrument. Thank you to Epitaph Records and those old Punk-o-Rama CDs - Enjoy everyone!
Agreed. I met Mett before a Charger show one night. We only talked for a couple minutes, but he was really kind and easy to talk to. Then later he absolutely shredded!
I jut love the fact that not only was he saying Thank You multiple times, but also to the person behind the camera. It was clear he's just a nice dude who was stoked to be there and nerd out a bit, so awesome to see.
I’m very impressed by Matt, not only as a musician but as a dude. Seems like a very positive and genuine guy. Did not know he had a channel but will check it out.
Such a humble cool dude! What an awesome simple setup. His signature squier bass is one bass I wish I had never let go. One of the best p-basses I ever played. Love this bass rundown. 👏🏼👏🏼
love the way he talks about his playing style. The "correct way of playing" may not be useful for everyone, finding the style of playing that suits you and gives you a sound you like it way more important
Damn !! So not only do I own 2 of Matt’s tour basses , we both were at the same shows !! The Who / Clash in 82 and in 96 The Who Quadrophenia tour . And I too remember listening to Live at Leeds going “ That’s what I want to be when I grow up “! So funny ! In 82 I thought the Who were old too 😂😂😂😂😂
Great interview! Matt Freeman is the single biggest musical influence for me and my bass playing over the years and on top of that he’s the nicest guy. Great job and really nice work summarizing how we all feel about him and his work.
Matt is such a humble gentleman. Probably the best sounding bassist out there (for me). I appreciate Claypool, et al, but Matt can tear it up. Great episode!
Had the pleasure of spending the day with Matt years back when he did some backup vocals on an album I played on. Super humble, down to earth, one of the few times "don't meet your heroes" did not apply!
Long time viewer, first time commenter. I’m just old enough to not know how to @ anyone on here, and don’t know if I’ve ever felt compelled to comment on a post before, but I really want to know @mattfreemansbassbunker’s opinion on PJ configurations considering he’s used both P and J in studio. And if he’s had any experience with sansamp preamp pedals in the past. Also, dude acts like he’s surprised he’s Matt Freeman and that anyone would want to pick his brain. Stay cool. Never change.
Just gonna parrot the other comments, but Matt really does seem like the nicest most down the earth guy, he doesn't realise he is a living legend at all lol.
Loved seeing him with Rancid back in August when they came to Toronto and they absolutely killed it, would’ve loved to see Lars and Tim as well since I’ve been wondering what guitar he was using alongside Tim’s Gretsch
I did a one show fill in gig guitar/bass tech for The Misfits. Jerry Only brings one Bass on tour. And of course he broke a string banging his fist on the E string. Then Robo had the nerve to get pissed at me for the time it took to change the string. How about you tell Jerry to bring a backup Bass?! Oh and to change the string you have to loosen the skull on the headstock.
Some of the worst left-hand technique ever? Has he heard the bass solo on Maxwell murder? 😂 Matt's influenced thousands of men and I'll bet women. I don't think he has anything to prove to anyone 😂 That made me laugh. Matt's a legend

Great job guys! Thanks for having me on the channel. I really appreciate it.
Our pleasure! Thanks for your time, Matt - keep up with your UA-camr career 🤣
Thanks for doing this! Such a great addition to the series from such an amazing bassist, who takes no short cuts.
truly my absolute bass hero!!! MUCH LOVE DUDE!!
I'm a fan for almost 20 years now. Thanks Matt!
@@jensk4140 better late than never 😏🤣🤛🏽

I too, have been waiting for this for years! Great interview, and extra special as one superfan to another. What an honor!
This man is one of the best to ever do it and not a drop of ego. Legend.
Matt’s attitude (Mattitude?) is just the best. Absolutely my favorite bassist around!
Warren Lee just chilling in the background will a slayer case😂
I know I just noticed that also!
I’m very impressed by Matt, not only as a musician but as a dude. Seems like a very positive and genuine guy. Did not know he had a channel but will check it out.
Legend. And credit to Chris. He always seems into the interview, asks great questions, also seems like a legit nice guy.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Check out his channel. Always a cool watch
Thank you for covering bass rigs!! 👏👏👏
My pleasure!

love the way he talks about his playing style. The "correct way of playing" may not be useful for everyone, finding the style of playing that suits you and gives you a sound you like it way more important
Now just need a Tim and Lars rig rundown
His bass bunker channel is great. What a legend. So humble
I love Matt Freeman from Matt Freeman’s Bass Bunker!
So nice to see such a simple stock setup, even the strings
Thanks the camera man too . Class act Matt freeman is 👌🏽
Matt does a great job of making his parts very aggressive but still really Fun and catchy.

great tone, awesome playing, also a very down to earth guy? Matt Freeman IS THE man!
Matt is such a humble gentleman. Probably the best sounding bassist out there (for me). I appreciate Claypool, et al, but Matt can tear it up. Great episode!
Finally a Rig Rundown with this legend, super excited!
Never met the guy but Matt seems to one of the most humble guys around. Especially among the elite.
He never seemed worried about the punk esthetic.
Had the pleasure of spending the day with Matt years back when he did some backup vocals on an album I played on. Super humble, down to earth, one of the few times "don't meet your heroes" did not apply!
Fuck yeah!
Great video, what an absolute legend and nice to see he seems like a nice guy too!
Cool, thanks for the vid!
Matt Freeman is a hero you can definitely meet what a class act 🤙
I keep expecting Chris to catch Matt’s headstock in the face
Matt is a legend, also such a down to earth kind guy. But an absolute beast on stage! You love to see it.
One of the best Bass players to ever do it.
wow when Matt played fast explaining the 60 mm, im gonna ride that. amazing tip thank you
Matt Freeman is a true ripper! 🤘❤️
Love the bass content! NorCal forever!!!
I have a Dunlop pick Matt threw into the crowd after a show at Orbit Room in Dallas back in the 90’s!😊
Jaco & Matt were and still are my favourite bass players ever !
Great video Matt Freeman best bass player out there
I Barely understand anything that you talked about, but RANCID IS one of the Best Bands out there so Thumbs up to you my Friend! Thanks for sharing.

What a bloody lovely guy!
damn i love Matt! what an amazing dude
Matt, you're the best!❤🤘
Matt Freeman, such a awesome dude..!! 😃
Love Matt,such a humble guy
Beautiful technique. I have seen a few episodes of the Bunker! I could hear the Pork Loin when he dug in.
Matt was such a gent
My fav bassist , seems like an awesome guy
Thanks Mr. Freeman. Going to dial this in.
Legend
If shitty left hand technique is his secret to being phenomenal then I am in
The legend!
Great rundown
Matt was my first guitar role model. Thought he was the greatest and still do.
Love the bass bunker ❤
Bass Bunker is one of my favorite channels to watch and I don’t play bass!
Always comes across like a good dude
Matt is the Chief!!
Greatest f’n bass player in the world
Ok, so Matt is good dude. Fucking awesome.
I also go between Ps and Js obsessively lol 😂
Great video!
Great guy very humble
His band Charger is phenomenal too
Matt is such a fucking nice dude
Now I need to dust off my Punk-O-Rama CDs.
A class act human puts Mr.Freeman above Legend now🤘
Just gonna parrot the other comments, but Matt really does seem like the nicest most down the earth guy, he doesn't realise he is a living legend at all lol.
Best of the best.
Loved seeing him with Rancid back in August when they came to Toronto and they absolutely killed it, would’ve loved to see Lars and Tim as well since I’ve been wondering what guitar he was using alongside Tim’s Gretsch
Lars plays his ESP LTD Lars Frederiksen Volsung Signature guitar
@@premierguitar Interesting, I didn’t know he signed with ESP since I thought he just played a custom Gibson SG but I’ll look his model up for myself
And has signature EMG humbuckers
@@premierguitar That's awesome, I never expected him to play something like that but cool that he's trying some other stuff
13:17 let's go Warren!!!
Finally confirmation, Matt used a Jazz on out come the wolves.
LIve at Leeds bass tone would be right at home on a Rancid album
FINALLY!!!!
Hey Billy Fitzpatrick from SOMT here's your hero, Matt Freeman!
Awesome ❤
FINALLY!
that way huge pork loin is custom? why i cant found on internet? i just found the softclin injection type
after 10 years i asking for it you guys do!!! but i already saw it on his channel like 2 one month a go hahahahahahha
Matt rules, hell yeah
Warren hanging in the background, just incase…😂

I played that Op Ivy LP to death when I was a teenager.
What brand strap is that?
John Entwhisle being his guy is the least surprising thing ever. Same Matt, same.
Rejected changed my life as a teen
0:40 he was like "yeah yeah, whatever.."
The dude is enthusiastically doing an interview about his gear. There was nothing cold about his greeting.
So someone actually does use Fender strings
Warren seems super cool. Total road dog
Some of the worst left-hand technique ever?
Has he heard the bass solo on Maxwell murder? 😂
Matt's influenced thousands of men and I'll bet women.
I don't think he has anything to prove to anyone 😂
That made me laugh. Matt's a legend
guys
Rancid? Sounds rotten!
Cool, great bassist, but am i the only one who absolutely loathes the term “rig”?
That ship has sailed my friend ... at least regarding this show & its 15+ years of content.
Seems cool to me… I love my rig! I think it’s cool seeing what other musicians and techs are doing out there.
Rolls off the tongue 🤣
