People in Ireland and The UK are so mixed along with that fact that there are so many people of color, heritage takes a backseat to the culture in which you’re raised. When someone is describes as being of a nationality, it is usually carries on at least till second generation and although James is culturally English, he is very much second generation and both his parents are Irish (well his mother is Northern but you know what I mean). It may also be worth noting that you can be born and raised in a nation and never consider yourself of that nationality. If you ever go to Corby Northamptonshire, you will find a bunch of people who will call themselves Scots despite not being born in Scotland and in many cases never even visited.
