    DFAM is legendary. Its so much more than a weird drum machine, its a beefy monosynth in its own right. So much love for that unit.

      Funny enough it’s so much but I wouldn’t classify it as a drum machine. Maybe in the classical modular oldschool Moog Modular sense. But in my music it rocks those atonal melodies like a trooper

    Brilliant! This is my favourite kind of techno. Minimal and hard, atonal. You are a genius, thanks for this video!

    If you like the Dfam, you need to try the labrynth.

      Thanks for this comment 😅 I thought I had my #GAS under control holding off on the Labyrinth… should I consult a shrink, or simply go for it…? 🫣😅

      @maikvanrossum go for it. I have them both and the lab is worlds apart. Don't get me wrong, the DFAM is fun, but I found it frustrating and limited at times. Out the box the Labrynth is so easy to use and the sequencer is just epic! To avoid over accumulation of gear I will be parting ways with my DFAM.

    I use the Edge from Behringer and that is always great. as nect i buy a Syncussion....and that´s kinda cool.

    • @maikvanrossum
      @maikvanrossum 25 днів тому +1

      The Edge is a definitely a great alternative 👌🏻 just like the Crave when it comes to the M32. Behringer really nailed it here 👍🏻 Where the Crave even has a more of a Moog ladder style filter, the Edge does not. But I think that’s even in favor of the Edge vs the DFAM. In the meantime I’ve added the Moog Subharmonicon, and I’m still on the fence for the Labyrinth. What is it you’re aiming for with the Syncussion?

    • @AnalogKitchen

    I teach a quantizer some messed up scale. Surgeon is good for finding a unfound scale. Then push is hard, just two voices with some rhythm independent of the notes. Like Euclidean, punch out a Latin beat on pad, etc. DFAM!!!

    Atonal techno is just modern electronic jazz, finding the notes between the notes that just sound great to your core

      It’s a trip. Like I said. My music theory tells me it’s wrong. The adrenaline and the dance floor tell me otherwise. It made for a whole new world of unexpected transitions that work but would let any music educator to suicidal tendencies

    I do a melodic version of this using microtonal synths so it sounds "out of tune" except for Pythagoris it sounds correct.

    • @AnalogKitchen
      @AnalogKitchen  23 дні тому +1

      I think it’s hard to not get things in tune. Most notes relate to one another in some shape or form. But I did see some getting caught up in the title. Atonal means in this case it being devoid of any ‘two dimensional’ melody. In a ‘old McDonald’ type one finger melody. The interactions now are more organic and of technological origin. My two cents

      @@AnalogKitchen Sevish is the most well known artist in this area, he shares a nice scala file collection with some far out ones that has like 20 notes per half step. But yeah its still music rather than noise but its very stretched out tonally.

    the only problem with atonal techno, or any other atonal music is adding another element from another instrument...

      Only play multiple notes on a single synth, the rest only play a single note. Problem solved

    • @maikvanrossum
      @maikvanrossum 25 днів тому

      @@ghostinplainsight4803 yes, but the way I read it, I think he means bringing in totally new elements without breaking the flow…?

    • @AnalogKitchen
      @AnalogKitchen  23 дні тому +1

      @tresporros Not really brother. The Atonality works if your new element does a similar idea. In this video you see me add multiple atonal samples together. The trick with this type of sound is that apart from its musical (or non musical or tonal) content the thing that drives it is the rhythmical pattern structure. And people will respond to rhythm in a more rudimentary way then melodies. There are more people that can’t sing than people that dance off beat (even though I encounter many of them often on my dance floors haha, bless them). So most atonal producers think rhythmically to. Ty and play some of the atonal sounds without a beat or direction (say anything other than a 4x4 beat) and feel how it is now open for a rather different interpretation of what you’re hearing. I might do a follow up video explaining this. Cheers!

    Atonal?? That`s music without a tonal centre like in works by Alban Berg, or A. Schoenberg in 1912/13 ..well...I think this term is a bit misleading here, sorry
