Really nice to see you again at the KitchenClub and experience this setup live in action! That Minitaur, So huge and powerful! 😮 Very inspiring day by all artists all round last Sunday! Thanks! 🥳
Nice one, I have a DFAM in my set up, along with a bunch of eurorack modules, I defo agree about keeping it simple, I do have trouble with transitioning from one movement ( or track) to the next ( new track). Great video. I’m now subscribed
This approach seems great for any kind of dawless live synth jam. Even experimental noise. I found that turning the volume down on the bass track and running it in the background made it way easier to find grooves on the DFAM/mother32 while still running drum tracks
I also found that that thing is so versatile. And because of the velocity lane, turning it down or hiding it in the background really fills out any beat. My 909 loves the DFAM. Turn up the volume and rock it solo, turn it down and drive it like a catalyst
Looking at a 4 bar loop, placing 1 note on an Ubeat in the 1-2 and more notes on the 3-4 side of the bar will get you a groove. Also use some shuffle to mesje it convincing
I'm pretty sure the 5 easy steps are only easy when you're already a good techno DJ. I like analog sequencers like the Korg SQ-1 or Doepfer Dark Time because you can basically turn anything into a DFAM. I mostly use my Minitaur with two SQ-1s. A cool undocumented feature of the Minitaur and a lot of Moogs with MIDI is that the last MIDI note you played acts as a base note for the pitch CV, so you can make patterns with a CV sequencer then transpose them with a MIDI keyboard. But the unique thing about the DFAM is that the 2nd row is velocity, and velocity usually controls the filter (or filter env mod) and not just the volume. I don't know any synths that'll let you control velocity with CV, so you need to just control the VCA volume or the gate. But the cool thing about the Behringer Edge is that you can just use it as an analog sequencer with velocity. It feels wrong to sequence a Minitaur with an Edge, but that's the only way you're going to control the velocity. And the Minitaur lets you adjust filter and volume velocity sensitivity with CC 89/90.
I agree you need to know at least something about what's what with Techno. I fully agree with you on the DFAM's velocity row. That is so instant. Before the DFAM I was always spending much time on emphasizing accents and velocity sensitive 'ghost notes' to make it work... Thanks for the Minitaur insights and you taking the time to comment. It's truly appreciated!
Well, I did a live show yesterday with the dfam and Minitaur together. It worked like a charm. I agree this could be a better example, but I didn’t want to make the vid too long. Thanks for watching
great to hear; wish I would have been there! Didn’t want to dis the minitaur, love it; just think there are better options for this specific usecase. I am still moving my minitaur in and out for my next live techno set. DFAM was easier to commit to ;)
Caveat, I hate techno. But, I think that ride should be every 2 beats until the end of a 16 or 32 bar sequence, then 4 on the floor a couple of bars. And you could have let that vocal lick come through more, especially during the drop around 21 minutes in because it goes well with the drums and was the flyest part of the beat. But riding ride cymbsls too hard is cheesy as hell.
I have my electribe 2 sampler which punch is really good for kick ect but ,my 909 kick (nice warm clap) built in my looper rc505 boss which I've heard its legend -909 ,out of the tb3 and mi nilogue my electribe sounds a lot better but need to plug in my dads pc and master that way .Is chrous important as flanger and delay?

you communicate joy of playing with music and spontaneously in the present with your video ha ha not a dam laptop. Thank you!
That's my prefered way of flight! Thanks for watching!
I found it curious that you never made a video with the dfam but now it's done and it's awesome. I love the groove of this pure techno machine !!
As a matter of fact, now that I have one I can’t either fathom why I’ve never jumped on the DFAM b4. It’s here now though
Nice one! Thanks for the shout out. ❤
Missed you at ADE brother!

Thanks again! And great to see you at Kater Blau too. Thanks for hanging out and let's go and set something up soon!
Nice, I’m proud dfam and 909 owner too.

Much respect brother! Thanks 🙏
Back at you brother!
that beat slaps man!
It ain’t no beat if it doesn’t slap. Or make it clap
Nice work man, nearly 20k subscribers! 🥳
Almost! Spread the word!
Ah, I knew you'd come around to the dfam 🙌
Come around? I’m a goner sucked into it and lovin every minute of it
Man you’re such a master >.< v kool I am amazed watching your videos.
Thanks for checking them out and cheers for supporting
I just got the Behringer Edge. I think I'm going to go with the DFAM soon.
Filter is much nicer on the DFAM. Other than that they basically sound the same. Keep em both, more fun that way 😂
@DawlessHouseMusic you won’t be sorry!
Lekker weer hoor!
Ja toch!
25:08 "Do you need a 909?" Of course! It's the law. The Law Of Techno 😁
*Great Video, as always.* I really like this setup!
Hahahaha. Yes! It’s the Law!
I’m always facinated by the groove of the bassline. Could you explain how it is sequenced ? It seems that there are 6 notes playing but i’m not sure

@@AnalogKitchen thank you for the tips, I'll try to apply them
Hi! ADE question: what time is your live set on Sunday?
I’m up at 1900. Are you coming to the KitchenClub
Will this work with a moog grandmother for bass and dfam? I noticed your not using the sub 37
Technically it should. Watch the levels though. And steer the filters away from one another

This is almost as good as my latest upload! J/k lol Great set! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Almost huh. I’ll try harder next time
DFAM is a great tool for this… I am however not convinced this is where the minitaur is best fit for purpose.

28:29 sweet spot 😀
Btw did you get the subsequent 37 working with the brain?
@FuzzbaLLbee yes, at long last!
Yes Tzo, I’m trying to make a point more than mixing the track. The mixing is a whole different topic ;)
