Same with things like ice skating, did you compete a trick? Bodybuilding is just standing, what are they doing? Everything they are "doing" was done in the gym, now they are presenting it to you... in a pageant.
Andrew’s height just gives him a commanding presence. My eyes went right to him in the line up which is definitely what you want. Great job Andrew Jacked

Andrew nails the crucial details that most modern bodybuilders lose points on. Awesome midsection, well-balanced and aesthetic physique, doesn't neglect the usual weakpoints like chest, serratus, and forearms, he even has pretty great calves considering his extremely high muscle insertions.
His calves are still weak and need to be enlarged. Others with high calves have done it. Also, the calves should be part of judging as they used to be. Some people have advantages in smaller waistlines based on their genetics, and that counts in their favor in the scoring. The same should hold true in the calves. Hunter Labrada's calves made AJ's look like a youngster in comparison. Again, if judges can reward AJ for his genetically smaller waistline, etc., then judges should also be able to reward others for their better calf development that has a better genetic component to it. Also, if wider waistlines get penalized as they do based on the genetics involved, then poorly developed calves should also get penalized based on the genetics involved. Either the entire body's musculature is judged or it is not bodybuilding/physique competition.

Hunter looked amazing and I was rooting for him, but I see why Andrew won. To me Andrew's abs looked more deeply cut and detailed, and his waist overall flatter. I think that may be what put him over the top to win. Congrats to Andrew and Hunter both for bringing amazing packages to this meet.

One of the most exciting shows in a long time. Texas always brings the heat. Like you said Nick, my eyes were drawn to Andrew every shot. He commands the stage and is so overwhelming he demands attention. That is his biggest strength I think. He looks unlike any other bodybuilder on any stage anywhere.
His proportions are amazing! His back development is great and his chest is nice and plump. All that and keeping a tight waist and shredded physique. He definitely has a chance this year at Olympia

I think Carlos Thomas has the potential to do some serious damage on the pro circuit. He's got the size, the shape, crazy roundness. To me, just needs to improve the conditioning and bring in the dryness. Andrew to me unless he just does a Lionel Beyeke and starts showing up in s*** condition, is going to be Mr.Olympia very soon. Dude at times on stage just looks like a man amongst boys.
Very pleased with the background not being busy. They heard us about the flashing lights and overboard colorization detracting from the physiques we came to see.
Come on.. that was a straight win for jack..it wasn't took long for judges to came up on decision..it was just dragged a bit long because they had nothing left except announcing Andrew as winner 😂 So they were taking fun they just didn't want make the show short and obviously watching Andrew jack its always been a pleasure 😎 that's how much good he is
It's not only Andrew's height, but also his controlled, tight posing that to my eyes made Hunter look weak and not on the same level. EDIT: Carlos taking third place in his pro debut is a great accomplishment given that he stood on stage with two top Olympia monsters. He can be #1 if he keeps improving.

Top 8 from Mr. O '22 qualified for the Mr. O '23, in addition to the 11th & 12th place (9 & 10 places having decided to sit out the '23 Mr. O). Andrew's qualification was, metaphorically, the last of the Mohicans. Congrats to him.

This was not close at all , Andrew by many miles . I was impressed with hunter but he does not match up well vs Andrew at all . Andrews way bigger and has a 10x better physique.

No surprise. I’m sorry to be that guy but Hunter has a whole lot more going for himself than being crowned Mr.O. Hunter has a life’s time worth of knowledge and experience that shows every year when he shows that he can keep pushing his limits BUT I don’t think his genetic make up and muscle bellies will ever surpass who he sees in front of him 🙁 if I were him I just look into becoming the next best coach or opening up gyms or who knows what other things he’s passionate about. His INSANE side tricep in this show took him to the next level and really made him dangerous. It used to be just the front, but with that shot he's really going to do some damage.
Andrew Jacked basically has the classic physique midsection but still has the size to win open shows. It's a huge change from what many competitors in the open class have had to compete against. I see him winning the Mr. Olympia soon.
It's simple, Hunter's physique looks messy, Andrew's is like sculpture carved to perfection. Hunter has the pec issue, looks flat at times, odd midsection and no lower back. Andrew has full pecs, perfect midsection and a back that looks complete head to toe. Tbh I don't even know why this is considered close. Hunter maybe takes the side tricep, that's it. Just how I see it.
Andrew is the modern day Serge Nubret Hunter is a beast period. I think Andrews height genetically will not allow his back to side to side wide vs front to back thick. Sad part is they both can stand to be tighter from a condition standpoint 💪❤💯

Hunter doesn’t impress me at all.
First time seeing Andrew on Thurston’s channel. I knew this guy had potential and is a beast.
Andrew is basically unbeatable in 4/8 mandatories. If he's able to come in with peeled glutes/hamstrings then the sky's the limit
His INSANE side tricep in this show took him to the next level and really made him dangerous. It used to be just the front, but with that shot he's really going to do some damage.
Andrew Jacked basically has the classic physique midsection but still has the size to win open shows. It's a huge change from what many competitors in the open class have had to compete against. I see him winning the Mr. Olympia soon.
As impressive as he is, it is easier to find physiques like Hunter's than Andrew's
No matter who wins but this kind of shows will bring up the bodybuilding up 💯

It's simple, Hunter's physique looks messy, Andrew's is like sculpture carved to perfection. Hunter has the pec issue, looks flat at times, odd midsection and no lower back. Andrew has full pecs, perfect midsection and a back that looks complete head to toe. Tbh I don't even know why this is considered close. Hunter maybe takes the side tricep, that's it.
