Bear in mind this guy is 62 years old, and has been singing like this since he was 18. It's incredible his voice is this damn good with little if no formal training. Long live the King.
Im a huge King Diamond / Mercyful Fate so dont get me wrong,....singing using falsetto isnt really that hard at all.
Kings true power lies in his persona, his story telling and using that falsetto to create a great horror atmosphere :)
ITs 100% pure falcetto. its a fake voice. anyone can do that at any age.. you want to hear real vocals, look at judas priest now. besides when he does painkiller he does add some fake falcettos in there but other than that, its real !!
Jere amos yet I'd much rather listen to and see King Diamond, I love Priest but King is superior.
This performance is a masterclass. These musicians are at the pinnacle of their art. Unbelievable.
Why Hollywood has not jumped on some of his story's is beyond me.... With the right direction the over all Abegill storyline could be so Epic
I can’t believe how professional they are. Perfect performance! Props to the sound engineer too
King Diamond always gives his fans 100% and never disappoints,he is a true Metal Legend ,Metal Blade did an awesome job on this Video can't wait for the DVD
I saw mercyful fate in a bar and even though King D was sick he still sang and put on an amazing show
King has never sounded better.... truly amazing!
It's amazing when you consider he's been through a heart bypass surgery.
I bet 10,000 of them views are from me alone. Been a huge King fan since 1987, at the ripe young age of 13, and I will die a huge King fan!
This is maybe the best sounding live recording of this kind of band I’ve ever heard. Awesome.
Dream Theater also sweat their quality a lot, I can't really think of anyone else though
I cannot sleep at night
That's what the day is for anyway
And as the clock strikes midnight
I hear them dancing at the graves
Singing to my mind
Killing the pain . . . sleepless nights . . . sleepless nights
I cannot sleep at night
That's what the day is for anyway
And as the clock strikes midnight
Only they can let us meet
Even though she's dead now
I gotta see her again . . . sleepless nights . . . sleepless nights
I cannot sleep at night
I will do anything to see missy again
Then let us make you an eternal deal
You will attend to the graves
You'll give us the house back and keep in mind
That we only come here at night.
So we made the deal under the starry night and
Amon belongs to them now . . .
I feel the dawn coming my way
And as the sun breaks up the dark
I can't hear them dance no more
There's no voices
Killing the pain . . . pain . . . pain
That part when he makes his voice coarse at 3:33 then right after he jumps back to the falsettos is hard to make without your voice giving some sort of failing, but he done it like a King.
HOW CAN SOMEBODY BE SO GOOD LIVE, AT THIS AGE OR ANY AGE??? THIS IS LITERALY A HISTORY
King is why I started playing guitar, great riffs, great rythym, great melodies and knows how to jam.
@@renedelafuente123 yeah I've loved Merciful Fate since about 1985. Got a Them disc with King playing the rhythm guitar parts to Invisible Guests and he's putting in the work. Always so gracious live (saw Fate a few years ago) just a class act all the way around
My very favorite heavy metal band. seen them at least 11 times since "Abigail" was released.
💯 love 🖤 er bare den bedste og største metal musik i hele Danmark 🇩🇰 og hele verden med 🌏
King dingmund er og bliver
The king 👑 af metal 🤘☻
Metal hilsen fra Danmark 🇩🇰
PS og vil altid være det 🤘
Thanks so much for this present!!! King is one of the best metal singers ever \m/
I waved the Best ever Flag for Halford, but when King went away from mercyful fate His albums and vocals are the greatest Ever! Shit gives me chills still to this day!
Hail King Diamond!
I hate that King Diamond usually isn't even on top 10 metal singers. most of the time of what i have seen :(.
King Diamond is among the greatest vocalists in Metal ever. Up there with Rob Halford etc.
This show was amazing! One of the best concerts I've ever been to!
Great video. So good to watch. There’s no one like King Diamond. Along with Andy La Rocque...one of the most underrated guitarists ever. These two are the nucleus of the band. Kings voice is phenomenal. No lip syncing, real playing. Absolute legends. A fan of the band since 1989, I can’t wait for the new studio album. King Diamond♦️ Rules! Peace, love and respect to all KD fans the world over from Birmingham, England.
Yes brother, I've been playing metal on guitar for 30 years, Andy la Rocque is the best guitarist in the world!! King diamond is the best band in the world!!! Metal gods!!!
I can’t believe I’ve just discovered this masterpiece
I've seen so many bands who's vocalist start to stuggle with their material at ages 50+. King is 62 years old in this and sounds even better than he did on the original recording 1989! Mad respect.
Yeah its actually almost unique. I can't think of someone else that's done that.
After his emergency heart surgery ( he had a serious heart attack and was clinically dead for 5 minutes!), he took a long break from singing, quit smoking, drinks very little alcohol and he did lots of vocal training with a vocal coach. His wife Livia, who is a proper trained soprano singer, actually helped him with that.( she does the background vocals here as well.)
I love this LIVE version ... what a perfect vocal scales. Pure quality of sound.. Perfection 🤘🏻
King diamond is the best band in the world!! Makes all the other bands look weak, sleepless nights, one of the best songs ever written, hail to the king!!!
I've never heard anyone say "That King Diamond...he puts on a lame show."
Somebody has to say something about compositon here, he is the Beethoven of metal!
His voice remains stainless
After so many years, he still sings the same way! Gosh what a monster of an artist! So glad to see him live again XD
Is it live or is it memorex!? Damn I know he’s singing live, but his voice is virtually flawless ...almost studio perfect...that bypass and quitting smoking has brought his voice to a youthful strength!!!! Hail King and Crew!!
@Gary Coolboobs He's definitely singing live and uses the girl to mimic the double vocal tracks of the albums to enhance the vocals.
He sounds absolutely fantastic.
@@charvelgtrs I think that's his wife actually. She was on his "latest albums" (however latest Puppet Master (2003) and Give Me Your Soul Please (2007)) and she performs on stage with them all the time.
@@borguskorguss7082 You are correct and damn what an age gap, he could be her father.
@@charvelgtrs well they do have a kid together so he is in fact a father.
What a BIG sound of snare! Its like a punch in my face. POW!
his voice never gets worn. hail to the king!
New album nowwwww
Three years ago in Detroit he said he was working in it. Come on now he needs to hurry up.
These guys are fucking flawless live!!
I love this song! I love the stories. This man has an insane range. Long live the KING!
His voice is still phenomenal
Thank you King and the rest of the band for always putting on a top shelf show. Great show men and women!
Mike Wead is such an underrated guitarist. The same can be said for Andy....but Mike gets no love.
Yes. Both men were outstanding on this tour. Wead is particularly impressive on "Eye of the Witch", IMHO.
Agreed. I've always been a fan of Denner but Wead is every bit as talented and even pulls a lot of Blakk's tone when covering his solos. It's one thing to sound good playing something you wrote but to be able to emulate multiple guitarists who have previously filled the role and sound every bit as good as they did in the studio live says something. Mike Denner - Fatal Portrait, Abigail, Pete Blakk - Them, Conspiracy, The Eye, Herb Simonsen - Spider's Lullabye, Graveyard, Voodoo, Glen Drover - House of God. That's a lot of guitarists to emulate and Wead does it masterfully.
Underrated according to who?
King is a heller gtr player also. He writes most of the riffs. Having King choose to hire you for his band would be all the recognition one would need in my opinion. But maybe he should consult you the next time he decides to hire a guitarist to make sure he's properly rated.
Im just blown away at how amazing he still sounds at 62!! They are just amazing....
Crystal clear sound, amazing performance, unstoppable headbanging, no mistakes at all Kings voice remains still one of a kind...
Omg- love this man. The presence, the music- those vocals! Always in awe!!
King Diamond's ability to change voices and build characters and stories in his songs is very unique in metal, no other band I know of does this.
Yeah my friend, I heard he was the first to do conceptual metal albums in the genre like he does till now lml
Just BRILLIANT! Andy and Mike CRUSHING IT!! The KING has been ruling for as long as I can remember. L-E-G-E-N-D!
King Rules! Long Live The King! Eternal! Always!
SIMPLEMENTE FENOMENAL KING DIAMOND....!!!!!!!!!
Unbelievable! My absolute favorite King Diamond song growing up. Flawless execution!
I know a lot of these videos say they filmed at the Fillmore in Philadelphia but at least some of it was also filmed at the Fillmore in Detroit. How do I know this? I'm looking at myself in the video right now and I was only at the Detroit show.
Glad they got Detroit footage in there also. That was one helluva show!! \m/\m/
How does this sound compared to live. In the past he always sounded awesome.
A Pure LEGEND , !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite band!! And this song is amazing on a musician note!!!! Superb
Sick live performance. This track was constantly on in my teens. Still a banger
History is full of different rulers .. but there is only and one, real KING !!!
3:55 is absolutely amazing...brilliant..
Damn they sound great after all these years!
One of the greatest metal songs ever written. Period.
The pinnacle of musicianship.
Absolutely phenomenal performance of this epic song!
Amazing footage! Finally a professional live DVD from the King! Love every single scream! Long live the King! \m/ ♥♥♥ \m/
FatalArrival Exactly my thought! Finally in the quality the band deserves...
From Australia we love King Diamond. What a great concert..
Los cambios en la voz altos bajos e intermedios no los tiene cualquier persona. Un genio la voz de King!
One of the best songs in Metal....oh my...yes!
Saw them in PA, 2014. Hell of a show. So glad we're getting a live release!
A true classic.. One of Diamond’s best for sure.
His band sounds fucking great live! Most bands don't!
I was lucky enough to see KD live ....one of the best shows I have ever seen...Iron Maiden was a close second..and I’m talking about sound and presentation on stage...incredible!!!
Wow! It's amazing! King Diamond always put a fantastic show! Nice job King!
I just saw The King last night at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, and yes that’s really the name of the venue. He was absolutely flawless, what a performance! Amazing show! Hail to the King!!! 🤘🏼👑
King Diamond best band ever.
Ahhh hail to the King ! I've been listening to him since the 80's, and he still gives me the chills !
amo esta maldita canción!!!!! larga vida a King Diamond y al metal!!!
Seen them 2x. Just saw in Brooklyn. @ of best shows I ever seen! Cant stop watching the videos.
And...Does this dam drummer ever get the credit he deserves for being one of THE Greatest Rock Drummers of All Time Finally!!!???
King Diamond is pure candy for the ears, no one sings like him!
I´m a huge King Diamond fan, I don´t really care if people say that falsetto isn´t really that hard, the true talent of KD resides in the influence that he has estabished upon the metal scene over the years, the way he tells this dark stories with the use of heavy metal is pretty much unique and thats why I consider him the best vocalist out there
The ones who say that are just ignorant. They don't really understand what he is doing, nor how difficult it is to switch pitch and register accurately on a dime.
HOLY SHIT! this is what I've been waiting for!!! finally those magical songs got the pro video/audio treatment they deserve!!
Diamond have the voice of a King even after 40 years, and his band is fantastic. I sadly haven't bought the Blu-Ray, but will this month.
I'm collecting music Blu-Ray's, and physical on shelve is so much better than digital copy When you buy anything physically, you own it and supported the band. I'm glad loads of other people think like me.
All hail the King !! but give it up for his excellent band mates as well
The best sound quality! Great upload Metal Blade.
volviste con todo Mr King que bueno verte asi maestro!!!!!!
One of the Greatest frontman in the music history
Супер, живые выступления много лучше, чем любые видеоклипы.
One of the greatest performances ever! Unique talent. 😈🖤
A melhor música sempre ! Saudades do Liberation Festival em 2017 - SP - Brasil 🤘🏻 Thanks King !!
Seeing SONGS FOR THE DEAD LIVE, I feel the same exact feelings I felt in 1984, when I first picked up Mercyful Fate's Don't Break The Oath. The same exact ones!!! WE NEED A NEW ALBUM AND TOUR FROM THE KING!!!
King Diamond the best ever!
Great video of the King! Thanks for cutting it...............
got to meet the King during the Mercyful fate 9 tour ...in the late 90s.....Best show i ever witness.Well besides this tour here.Hell i even have the OATH album cover tattoo on my body.Hail King Forever.
Wow saw them in Pittsburgh a few years back...amazing!!!
toda la fuerza de una de las mejores bandas de hevy metal del mundo.
I cannot believe how incredible this performance is. They all sound perfect, every single instrument sounds so crisp an clear, and they play their asses off! Kudos to everyone and the sound engineer too!
Sounds amazing live!!
I used to get jokes so hard back in the day when I was rocking fatal portrait and Abigail and ofcourse now those same fucks call the king exactly what he is "THE KING" thank you for this video the clarity and the sound is amazing and best of all it shows the king doing what he does best.ROCK THE FUCKING HOUSE!!!!!! Andy is by far the most underrated metal guitarist of all time.
Hahahaha I just replied to my own comment from months ago.what a dipshit.anyway king rulz!!!!!
Holy Satan Shit! I've been listening to King/Mercyful since about '87 and I have to say This is AS good as the studio released albums. This is some seriously awesome shit 🤟
I’m alone, in my bunch, in appreciating what this guy does. What a great metal singer!
That main riff is so wicked awesome its unbelievable...
Great sound quality on this vid and the entire live CD! Was a great show the previous week in Detroit.
King Diamond really knows how to tell a story and put on a show! =)
Wow, what a voice!
Awesome live performance. He's still the king.
This is even better than the studio version
They sound better live in my opinion
Agreed!!!!
And he is 60 years old in this performance. Incredible.
His voice cleared up a lot when he quit smoking. I can't wait for the new Fate and King Diamond albums. Masquerade of Madness is a great single. I'm so hyped
Man I agree, it's phenomenal!
