Why did it take so long for the algorithms to bring this masterpiece to me. Brought back the memories of hearing this album play in the attic of a high school friend (which was his dad's band room, full of guitars and amps and drum set) I was hooked, at age 14, and knew I'd play guitar for the rest of my life, and still do, as do my 3 son's, and daughter too! All have heard and been inspired by the birth (in my mind) of heavy metal, the way it should be. Often imitated (for good reason) but never mastered, except for the King.
I love the end of this concert where the band and King give some love back to the audience - there's nothing sadder than seeing a band you love finish their final song and can't wait to get offstage and away from everyone. King is very gracious in receiving the love from his fans.
Quotes from famous musician and High ranking Church of Satan member and very close friend to Anton LaVey - King Diamond "Satanism is about the Powers of the Unknown. I have had hundreds of strange supernatural experiences with the occult, the other side, the beyond, whatever you want to call it that proves there is a spiritual world that can cross over into our world. Satanism is a life philosophy so within it you can have your own religion, any religion you want. Or take from various religions or your own whatever makes you happy. I have my own beliefs and Religiously Satan on a spiritual level stands for the Powers of Darkness, the Powers of the Unknown which are always all around us at all times. This is the best way to talk about these Spirits and Powers. Not a god or a devil as both of them are christian god's and that has nothing to do with Satanism. Of course there are different types of satanism. And I never wear gold as that is not healthy for you! Must need something bad and use that during ritual then you might be able to get help from these powers I believe are all around us. But that is only if they like you. I do not believe in the two christians beings god or the Devil, I believe in the Powers of the Unknown, Powers of Darkness, The Powers of the Occult what ever name you want to use. . I have done Satanic Rituals and have seen and heard spirits. Some people like to call "Them" God or the Devil or whatever, but I do not believe there is all one good and one all bad power. I believe there are many, many different Spirits and Powers that exist and that they are not good or evil, like humans they have both inside of them and I always treat them with the highest amount of respect and feel that respect returned by Them. It is massive mutual respect. Not Power, but Powers, Big difference. I believe we are one and the same me and these Unknown Forces. You really have to respect them for the incredible power they have. I believe they come to those who they feel can handle it and who will be faithful believers." In the song "Welcome Princess of Hell" you hear me singing to these spirits and powers and they sing back to me. They came to me to let me know they are here for me on my journey and that they are behind me and that they wish me good luck so I see them as my protectors almost like guardian angels. We all live several lives so that our powers/souls can grow in order to reach a higher plane and join with something greater. Our powers live in a human shell several times that will enable us to go on to a new life form a higher plane of being or join one day with a larger greater force. But 99 percent of the population live by the Satanic Philosophy whether they know it or not. As Anton LaVey even told me that Satanism is simply a life philosophy and NOT a religion. Satanism is based on logic and things that are proven which is why it could never be a religion as religion is based on things that cannot be proven. And that’s why I say that these powers of darkness are always welcome in my home. It’s as if the powers of the unknown came and said ‘Hey, we will stay with you and help you.’ That’s what I feel.” When I almost died during surgery I saw my body below as a demon tried to enter my soul and I had to fight him! These things are very real! Personally I do not use electrical lighting at home and on my Satanic Altar or in the studio when I record vocals, only black candles as electrical lighting drives away the spirits and I love having them near me. People who see Satanism from the Christian view point are not treating these powers with respect and that is very dangerous. I once actually summoned a spirit in order to prove they are real to a girl who doubted and Satan came. My wife will not look in our mirror in fear something will come out. In Satanism you are your own God. LaVey felt and I agree that we are all individuals born with different needs and views and so he felt everyone should make up their own mind about what to believe in spiritually if anything at all which is why he left a huge void in the Satanic Bible when it came to spirituality or any kind of religious beliefs and so within the Satanic Philosophy a person can still be a Christian if that fulfills their spiritual needs. Satan also means the Opposite, Inverted, Reversed which is why we wear the Satanic crosses and pentagrams. Satan means the opposite of religion. Satanism is living out your feelings and instincts without feeling it is a sin, enjoy yourself while you are here now while you can and have your own individual beliefs. One thing I consider almost mandatory though is believing there are powers around us. And you can use these powers to help yourself or those you care about. Or throw these powers at people in a negative way. I am not religious at all but you can say I am spiritual due to my experiences and beliefs. The Satanic bible is not really a bible because a bible is for religion so it should be called a book of philosophy instead. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. When people see the word ‘Satan’ they see only negative. Satan is not only bad, to me. It represents both sides of everything. I don’t believe in the Christian devil. “Christianity has both God and the devil. I believe there is neither of these two. I believe in the powers of the unknown, which I have experienced many times. I know that rituals work. I don’t do them often because you can easily misuse them. They will get back at you if you don’t respect them. Rituals can channel the forces that surround us all the time but I respect the powers and will not abuse them in any way. The Satanic Bible is 70 percent Philosophy and 30 percent magic. Satan is the power of the universe. Satan to me is the Powers of Darkness, not a man with horns. Some people think Satanism is what the Christian church portrays it to be. If you are as bad and as evil as you can be and you think that’s Satanism then you have become part of the Christian religion. That is Christian Satanism which is not what I am about at all. I know these powers are good because they saved my life many times!
How awesome is the crowd? Seriously the energy from the audience is INSANE. I can't wait to see King live. I've watched this easily a 100 times. It's one of the best live performances of any type that I have ever seen. Everything sounds BETTER than the studio versions. The mixing is great, the video is stellar, everything is just right. Hail the King!
have loved rock my whole life, by accident heard king diamond on spotify about 6 months ago, and absofuckinglutely love them, what an incredible vocalist, and the guitarists and drummer, and yes, the gorgeous back up vocalist are simply magnificent....simply brilliant performance at the Fillmore...
What really impresses me is how true they are to the original recordings. Its like listening to the CD/LP but in live version. The solos are spot on, and so are the vocals and the rest of the band. Really flawless performance.
I'm done with with people nitpicking Kings live vocal he is an amazing vocalist period sure there are overdubs or enhancements who cares most metal singers use them
@@jamestorres9464 I actually appreciate that he has another vocalist helping with the higher notes and that she's not under the stage or behind a curtain. Most (insert music genre here) singers that are using vocal tracks probably shouldn't be singing. Live shows are mean to be just that... live.
It's amazing how the guitars are spot on.......truly tight.....the drummer and the bass are amazing as well......talented real musicians that have mastered their instruments Thanks
He is a King , and Sparkles like a Diamond , but whatever health issues he has had to deal with - it is absolutely EPIC that he can come back with vocals that sound like no other on this planet and still sound identical to the studio albums all these years ago. Pure Scandinavian Talent.
The health scare is the reason he sounds so amazing still. Forced him to give up his bad habits that were detrimental. Undortunate that he had to go through it. But glad he came out on the other side and continues to blow our minds with shows like this.
This concert sent me down a path this last year that I haven’t been able to get off of. I had listened to a little bit of Mercyful Fate here and there you know the popular songs, but after watching this concert, I bought a bunch of King Diamond and Mercyful Fate albums over this last year.
Never took the time to really dive into King Diamond’s discography but I always love it when I hear it. This live registration is pure black depraved gold. The performance, skill, theater, audience, camerawork, sound. This is truly awesome!
An absolutely brilliant performance by the band and the man himself. Everything on point (and sounding better than ever, I might add), King Diamond treats fans to an experience that surpasses the average concert. Stay heavy and long live the King 🤘
I saw the same show live at the factory in Toronto Ontario. It’s so cool to watch it again. It’s like a complicated movie that you need to see twice. King Diamond is my favourite band of all time and I’ve seen them live so many times! King… you are the King! As a musician myself I’m blown away by the talent of everyone in your band. I’m a drummer and from Mickey D to Matt Thompson…. Blows my hair back even though it’s thinning lol. Keep giving us the good stuff my brother!
Matt Thompson is an underappreciated drummer. Love watching drum cam video of him playing. I realize Mikkey Dee created the best of the KD catalog, but Matt is still an amazingly talented drummer. I've commented repeatedly about Matt. But he took a moment to meet with us before this show in the lobby. Took a moment to speak with my 6 year old daughter. I'm forever grateful and appreciative of how generous he was with his time.
Back in 1999 during the mercyfulfate tour 9...I got the chance to talk with King Diamond and hes one cool dude.Loves his fans and its heartfelt.King Diamond will always be my favorite band.
I can't believe how those guitarist shred!!! It's fucking amazing!! Still kicking ass after all these years!! Wish I could meet King and the boys 👍🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥

Omg... Speechless... lost for words after watching this. I've seen KD twice (1990 & 2005... missed the House of God tour) and he still has it: performance, stage presence, showmanship.... it also extends to the band. Serious serious musicianship here. No words for Andy; everything has been said before. Having quit smoking is the best that happened to King's voice. Speaking of voices: surprinsingly very very good work on the backing vocals of Livia, matching his husband high pitch and also harmonizing. Nothing else... let's watch it again cranked to the max !
. King Diamond fans for a long time deserved a high quality recorded show. This wonderful day will be eternalized for the enjoyment of future generations. Metal Blade, Thanks for posting to everyone here on youtube!!!! .
King has made some of the best metal albums of all time and now im seeing this show with this outstanding performance from King and from these glorious musicians and makes the time for next new album seems passing sooooo slow.
I’ve watched all or snippets of the show hundreds of times and each time I see something I hadn’t noticed before. Fuckin' A! I've been a Mercyful Fate/King Diamond fan since '83. He still sounds amazing! The last time that I saw King Diamond, was in 1993, when he reunited with Mercyful Fate. I saw them live at Studio One in Newark, N.J. Cathedral was the opening act. I got to go backstage and hang out with Cathedral, and King Diamond popped his head in at one point to say hi. I was blown away, he was really cool in person. I'm 52 now, I wish I could still hit those highs! LONG LIVE THE KING 🔥🤘💀🔥

Damn it, this is King's most fucking show!!! I love him and his work - the music is just MINE!!! Goosebumps!!!
Just watched this again. Still one of the best metal concerts ever captured on film. Every musician gets his share in the spotlight, I just love everything in this. And The King himself, 30 years after Abigail was released, just amazing. I was in Espoo to witness this, I´m glad they made the video, thought after the show that hopefully they do, so fantastic it was. As I can memorize every note, word etc. in Abigail album, this was almost perfect, there are maybe two or three times towards the end of the show, where King can´t quite reach original heights, but only few. Guitarwork is almost 100% as it should be, incredible. Bass, hat´s off ! And Mat´s drumsound is fat and juicy. Until next time !
I was fortunate enough to see King on the Them tour at the Arcadia in Dallas Texas October 1, 1988 and several times since... Still so damn good! Big love brother.
Something I’ve never experienced... a King Diamond concert... or even Merciful Fate... but I have experienced a crazy storm while listening to the album Them On a kick ass stereo system..... AT MIDNIGHT!!!!

One of the best shows I have ever seen. The TRUE METAL is here.
Matt Thompson's drumming is absolutely perfect! This is a great video. Thanks for sharing.
I love the end of this concert where the band and King give some love back to the audience - there's nothing sadder than seeing a band you love finish their final song and can't wait to get offstage and away from everyone. King is very gracious in receiving the love from his fans.
King Diamond must be immortal. Killer performance 🤘
He is the god of darkness
@@shmoezer6663 Really?
I think his cardiologist would disagree.lol

How awesome is the crowd? Seriously the energy from the audience is INSANE. I can't wait to see King live. I've watched this easily a 100 times. It's one of the best live performances of any type that I have ever seen. Everything sounds BETTER than the studio versions. The mixing is great, the video is stellar, everything is just right. Hail the King!
King fans are the best. Can't wait to see him in October
@trentonwalker8602 Me too friend.! I'm driving over from Daytona. My birthday is 10 27. The nite after.! Close enough.!!
have loved rock my whole life, by accident heard king diamond on spotify about 6 months ago, and absofuckinglutely love them, what an incredible vocalist, and the guitarists and drummer, and yes, the gorgeous back up vocalist are simply magnificent....simply brilliant performance at the Fillmore...
Backup vocalist is his wife, Livia
Live shows are mean to be just that... live.
@@jamestorres9464 I never ment anything negative about the band with my statement, so don´t shoot at me.

It's amazing how the guitars are spot on.......truly tight.....the drummer and the bass are amazing as well......talented real musicians that have mastered their instruments
Thanks
This is too good to be. King Diamond is one of a kind, it’s a truly unique band

Best of the Best. Best concert ever. King Diamond rules forever.
New goal in life: Don't die before seeing KD live. Bloody amazing, epic performance!
I thought he was Danish?
35 years later, it still blasts from the windows of my truck!! Long live the King!
This is one of the top moments in the history of metal!
Absolutely amazing! This man and his band are beyond f*cking legendary!!
It does not get any more metal than this. What an incredible performance!
An absolutely brilliant performance by the band and the man himself. Everything on point (and sounding better than ever, I might add), King Diamond treats fans to an experience that surpasses the average concert. Stay heavy and long live the King 🤘
sleepless nights in this performance has to be one of the greatest live performances everrrrr!!!

People don’t realize the writing that went on with King’s music. I mean it is absolutely amazing
its truly amazing. still a true masterpiece of a band that technically outruns almost any band nowadays.

In the years of university by middle nineties I studied by dawn and the darkness gave me a spine goose bumps when I listened this Rhymes of grandma, specially with "them" record. King Diamond definitely striked a generation with his whistle notes. Yeah........
