  • Village Cooking in Laos | Meeting Family For The First Time in Savannakhet | Travel In Laos
    After Vientiane, I take an overnight bus to my families hometown Savannakhet, Laos. This was an emotional experience since it was my first time meeting my family and cousins in Laos since 1992. We got to face time my family in Wisconsin and meet all the kids. My cousins took me to their village an hour away and I got to see how they lived and they cooked me amazing Lao meals. All the villagers came to meet me and through me a baci to wish me a safe travel.
    Xeno - This area is about 2-3 hours away from Savannakhet. It is very small and quiet. There is a bus stop in the town that you can take to get back to Savannakhet. My cousins live in a village near Xeno and it is very remote. The village had a few houses and they are all on stilts because of the heavy rain in Laos. My aunt had several cows and a pig in the back. There are several wild dogs just running around the kids play with them.
    Lao Village Food - All the food was very fresh. They butchered fresh chicken for my visit. They had a few jeaws to enjoy with sticky rice and a soup.

    Thank you for sharing this video and your experience. Both of my parents are originally from Savannakhet before finding refuge in France during the Vietnam War. I look forward to visiting Laos, specifically Savannakhet once the pandemic is under control. Watching your video makes me think how both of our lives could've been so different if our parents never left. Wishing everyone good health and blessings in the country.

    I enjoyed watching your clip. Thank you so much for the beautiful views of ban nork and city life cos i am planning to spend part of my time in Savannakhet starting next month or in May after i met a really nice lady and her family online last year who are from that city. It will be my first time going back to Laos since i left the country i 1977. I really miss the food and traditional Lao culture and the friendly people. Hopefully, my daughter will get to experience her new life there too. Thanks again for sharing and so glad to see you got a chance to meet your extended family.

    I've been to Laos several times visiting distant relatives. I was really happy to see them, unfortunately, I can't say the same for them. Of course, they are VERY happy to meet and befriended with my $$$$$. After several visits and in each visit, my valuable just happened to be gone AWALD unnoticeably and I have a good idea of who assisted with the AWALD. For safety reasons, I pretended as nothing happened.

Love your videos as i always tell you so keep up the great work Saeng.

    • @OS253
      @OS253 2 роки тому

      Not all Lao people from the USA can speak their mother language perfectly especially if they can't read or write Lao scripts. Most real Asians will write in scripts. Lao scripts, Thai scripts, Chinese scripts, Japanese scripts, Korean scripts. We don't copy Westernized writings like Vietnam do.
