Vacuum cleaner motor burnout

  • Some idiot tried vacuuming up glass using a cleaner with no dustbag, wrecked the cleaner and threw it out. Not all of it got as far as the bin...
If you like this burnout check out Photonvids' channel, he's popped a few of these vacuum cleaner motors and they always seem to go a bit "Green Mile" when they fail :)
For other good channels check out the list on the right of my own channel (or at least it's on the right until YT change the layout yet again).

The best vac motor pops I've seen are Photon's, but when it comes to washing machine motors running on MOTs, Aussie50 is indeed the man!

How many RPMs do you think it was running at before it popped?

Nice motor pop! I just happen to have one of those sitting on my shelf. No disrespect to Photon but for the best universal motor pops, Aussie50 is the man! We're talking flying red-hot commutator bars! :)

These motors always remind me of the Green Mile. I guess I forgot to wet the sponge.

    Sounds like my computer overheating.

Not a clue. The pitch of the whine of the motor might give clues but someone would have to hook it up to a rev counter and a spectrum analyser (or at least do an FFT analysis of the waveform after recording) to get an idea of sound versus RPM. I'll have to look into that. I'll also have to find another old vacuum cleaner :)

A friend used his mum's vac to hoover up some sick/spew, after tripping out too much on the old e's. The next day his mum went to use it and couldn't understand why it was chucking out such a pong, till she opened it up lol

Maybe I'll rip the fan blades off the next one, too. Less wind resistance, more speed :)

Now you're asking. Some sort of bagged upright cleaner, I can't remember the brand though.

That motor is going to blow out Watch What Happens end of this video that when we hear a warning sound of a motor you must not bring your balloons because it's going to pop

Why not open the motor and show what need to be replaced instead of all the pointing finger and confusing explanation?
